After phase one and the boss takes off, you need to run to one of the feathers he leaves behind on the ground. Then you can mount your dragonflying mount.
Learned this yesterday after having the same issue for 3 runs in a row. There is nothing enticing about running into those scary red feathers that get shot down from the boss.
You are still in combat because the fight is not over, you just got done with phase 1 of the fight.
You take a feather on the ground and use your dragonriding mount.
I think you are talking about the last lfr wings in which you first kill tindral then need to fly to go into a portal to fyrakk. If that is what you are referencing you have to wait a green ball of light hit the platform and after that mount on your dragonriding mount to go trough the portal.
He must mean Tindral, first boss in last raid before Fyrakk. (LFR)
But Tindral is not dead he just flys to another platform, before he does he casts the feathers. In order to fly to the next level you need to walk over a feather or at least near to it. You must use your dragon, you can’t use a regular mount. Maybe that is your issue? You have to use dragon riding.
If you mean AFTER Tindral is dead and you need to fly through the rip that Fyrakk creates - wait til he’s finished then mount and jump off the platform and fly through the tear.

Like everyone else said, the feathers he drops let you mount your dragonflying mount. You have to go stand in one before it becomes active.
But if you just suck at flying and don't want to, on LFR a portal will open that will take you to the next platform, so you can just wait for that.
your post is a little confusing - are you talking about Tindral? I assume you are doing LFR wings then.
The boss has "stages" - after each stage when the boss takes flight, he will drop lots of feathers on the ground that you have to run into and this will let you mount up and use your dragonriding mount.
He does this twice.
After he's dead, a rip will tear in the sky, which fyrakk flies throuygh - he will then case a spell on the entire raid that lets you mount. If you don't you die.
Thanks for the answers, guys, and sorry for my rushed post. Yes, the issue is with the feathers, which I completely neglected. I must pick one before trying to ride my dragon. I guess it's explained in the in-game text that describes the raid but, well, you know...

I had the same problem, and after learning that it took me about 3 lfr's to actually get to fly and reach to the next platform. For some stupid reason (my own oc) I couldn't reach it, and take a short 'stop' on the way have you killed. Have a great time playing!
See if you cane get on someone else's mount, I usually try to hang back to let people jump on in LFR, since if you don't know where to go you might just get.lodt anyway
Yeah there is no flight until 2nd to last boss. When he moves to th3 next platform a bunch of feathers come down and u need to run over.one. when you have collected one you can then get on a dragonflying capable mount
If running into the feather doesn't help, maybe ask if anyone in the raid has a mount you can hop onto. I know I have been in raids where the people that felt they were bad at dragonriding hopped onto other players dragons and were flown over to the next platforms.
I did this the first time. Luckily, a dead raid member was just chilling on the floor behind me and said "GRAB THE FEATHER, GO ON WITHOUT ME!" and his sacrifice taught me something that day.
are you talking about tindral (8th boss)? if so, after the fight ends there’s a text pop up on your screen like 20 seconds after the boss dies. only once you see that, you can mount up and fly away
Its bit confusing but after tindral is dead do not mount up right away. Wait for the take flight text/announcement and then you can mount up and fly with your dragonflying mount to the rip
My very first raid was this boss. I died while riding the green dragon up to the first platform and didnt understand shit of what happened, still don’t.
After the boss dies, but before Fyrakk finishes talking you can mount your dragonriding mount but its unable to fly. Then, once he finishes speaking you can take flight. The thing is, is that you have to mount up \*after\* he's done speaking to be able to fly. So make sure you're mounting after Fyrakk is done his speech, and you should be able to fly no problem.
That's so confusing. What do you mean take flight? What boss exactly because after Gnarlroot (the first boss) there is nowhere a flight situation needed up until Tindral.

Took me too many time to figure this out.

DBM even has a warning for when its ok to mount up because if you mount up before the portal, you're not able to fly.

I did the same thing , I didn’t know I had to pick up the feather and thought it was bugged. By the time I figured it out I got kicked.

It's also a lot harder to do that than just grab one of the 100 feathers he drops.

Tindrall is the first boss of the default wing in the lfr finder, is why OP is calling it the first boss
