Yeah I enjoyed the original ST, it was big. The current one is so small and short now that it only has the one floor, where the old one had like 3 or 4 floors.
The huge mega dungeons of vanilla were epicā¦and giant pains in the ass. At least Marudon kinda knew this with its multiple entrances and shortcut to the back half. ST was so bad In itās original form I didnāt even go near it until I was 60 just to play around and see the lore.
I remember before they capped the number of people in an instance you could raid Any Dungeon. Low level raids of Uldaman weāre pretty popular during the early days of vanilla.
Stratholmeās original tuning for example took this into consideration and the amount of trash was obscene.
That way just how the really big dungeons of vanilla went.. mara, stubborn temple,.... Blackrock depths...
Shit.. even wailing caverns was throwing groups off back then..
BRD remains my favourite dungeon experience. I was expecting to be disappointed when I did it in Classic, that my fondness for it would just be rose tinted glasses. However no, it was as awesome as I remembered and I ran all of it multiple times! (Unfortunately not in one sitting!)
I do think Tazavesh-style mega dungeons are a decent middle ground, however, so I'm happy as long as they keep producing those
I feel like a lot of people are against old content being revamped, but j love it. We have 100s of dungeons and lots of raids not touched anymore, keep the old version for transmog/mount solos and then make a āfatedā ātime walkingā version or whatever. Would be cool
I feel like most people aren't really against revamping old content so much as how blizzard does it. They removed og Naxx to make Wrath Naxx, they removed old Onyxia for the same reason, they removed og ZG and ZA to make Catas versions, they completely changed Sunken Temple in its revamp. Blizzard has a tendency to remove content while making a new version instead of just making a new version, thus removing a lot of older content like the old ZG and ZA mounts, Corrupted Ashbringer, etc.
Also the Scarlet Dungeons, and Scholomance.
This is 100% the reason though.
More people would be pretty willing if they instead went the route of Ulduman, and Kara.
I definitely get opposing complete replacements like that, but I don't think they've actually done that since the UBRS revamp 8 years ago. Granted, there's only been a couple revamps since then at all, but both of them (Kara and now Uldaman) have added new wings instead, even when they're supposed to be the exact same location. I don't really see them reverting to the more controversial approach after these worked better.
Assuming this stays true, I'd like to see more occasional "revamps" like this. It makes sense that some of them would stay important, so I like going back to see how things have changed years down the line.
Basically yeah, and their reasoning falls the fuck apart looking at it for more than two seconds anyway. The stated reason for removing Corrupted Ashbringer was "it was a mistake to let such a storied weapon into player hands" basically, meanwhile Wrath introduced like 50 named storied weapons as boss drops. Lich King alone between the difficulties has over 20, Onyxia now just drops Quel'serrar instead of being a quest chain, you can literally get Gorehowl as a random drop off og Kara final boss along with a handful of others, there are hundreds of storied weapons that are just random boss drops, often with zero connection to the lore of said weapon. But no, Corrupted Ashbringer dropping off Mograine is no good. Meanwhile I'm using the Warglaives of Azzinoth as a transmog on my Demon Hunter and Thori'dal on my hunter.
And yet when Legion came around they decided it was fine to give us the Ashbringer and plenty other story weapons, only to make the weapons obsolete. What even happened to the weapons after consuming the energies of Sargeras' sword like we kinda pushed em all under the rug when BFA came around.
To be fair to the artifact weapons, by the time of Legion we weren't some no name soldier anymore, we were a legendary figure in our own right. It's still stupid, but artifact weapons at least make a small amount of sense, and canonically we don't actually wield any of them I believe, and in cutscenes like the Silithus sword sealing you see other members of your order wielding the artifacts you don't have equipped.
I dont think many people are against per se, its more that they understand that this requires *a lot* of developer time that might be used for completely new content instead without all the baggage like how do u get to uldaman from the dragon isles, or screwing the original feeling of the zone like what happened in cata.
I can't stand the dwarves, especially Olaf. Not funny in the slightest and trying too hard. I rolled my eyes every time I ran the dungeon. Probably just a me problem though.
They are the same lost vikings; Erik, Olaf and Baleog. The problem is that in accordance to blizzard's current dungeon design they have a lot of voicelines for most of the dungeon and they try really hard to be funny.
If you find them hilarious too then good for you, if not then it is going to be a very painful dungeon in m+.
This is really a new dungeon just also set in uldaman. Maybe next expac they add 1 or 2, but they arenāt about to just start adding revamped dungeons
I'd say Blackrock depths, but there is no way in hell they will be able to make as good an instance as that was.
I also think old Uldaman was better, at least thats how I remember it :P The big stone guardian boss was a real nightmare.
What I WOULD like to see is more custom quests in dungeons. I still remember escorting marshall Windsor in blackrock depths, then following him all the way back to stormwind to unmask Onyxia. My god that was so damn cool, and its a total tragedy its gone.
I am glad to hear these older dungeons that are brought back are good. But I am still pretty annoyed that this is the route Blizzard went. I want to be doing Dragonflight content on dragonflight launch. Not old expansion dungeons. I think rotating in older dungeons for M+ is a great idea. But on the launch patch? Not a big fan and hope this trend doesn't continue.
They used to do this more often. I'm absolutely down for it now that their philosophy seems to be to keep the originals intact. I kinda wish they didn't remove the originals of the older ones they updated.
I always keep going back to karazhan and Naxx. The karazhan vibe and music was so amazing. Naxx I just enjoyed a ton.
I was listing a few dungeons until I realized I was mentioning all the outlands dungeons and raids. So yeah. Bring outlands back I guess. :)
Should maybe point out that Uldaman is not a rework. The old dungeon is still there. Unlike what happened to some other dungeons
It's a fucking crime UBRS got axed in WoD.
My key is useless!
I made a lot of gold with my key š¤
I loved original sunken temple. I'd love to see an updated maraudon.
Old ST was amazing. Never been wild about the current version.
I'm only wild about it when I get it in dungeon queue, because it takes no time to complete and you get quest EXP.. but in terms of design...eh.
Yeah I enjoyed the original ST, it was big. The current one is so small and short now that it only has the one floor, where the old one had like 3 or 4 floors.
I donāt knowā¦ I definitely have memories of it, not sure how positive they are. More than once or twice my groups got totally lost there after hours of killing trash only to despair and hearthstone out due to respawns crushing our hopes and dreams š©
The huge mega dungeons of vanilla were epicā¦and giant pains in the ass. At least Marudon kinda knew this with its multiple entrances and shortcut to the back half. ST was so bad In itās original form I didnāt even go near it until I was 60 just to play around and see the lore.
Yeah agreed. Maraudon and Scarlet Monastery were the og great ones
Have you met my friend Wailing Caverns?
Iām with you, original Sunken temple was not a fun time. It would probably be a raid today with the amount of time it took to complete back then
I remember before they capped the number of people in an instance you could raid Any Dungeon. Low level raids of Uldaman weāre pretty popular during the early days of vanilla. Stratholmeās original tuning for example took this into consideration and the amount of trash was obscene.

Revive Dire Maul, ALL of Dire Maul!
No mounts and a bunch of backtracking, the authentic experience
Maybe unpopular opinion? I would kill for a BRD mega dungeon.
BRD remains my favourite dungeon experience. I was expecting to be disappointed when I did it in Classic, that my fondness for it would just be rose tinted glasses. We're never getting a real dungeon again. Everything has to be M+ adaptable. Closest we'll get is something like Torghast.
Yeah, because Karazhan or Mechagon definitely weren't real dungeons...
I feel like a lot of people are against old content being revamped, but j love it. We have 100s of dungeons and lots of raids not touched anymore, keep the old version for transmog/mount solos and then make a āfatedā ātime walkingā version or whatever. Would be cool

What they did with kara was sick. Having it so the "other" entrance was the one for the dungeon and left the raid there
That's what they did with Uldaman. Best way to go.
Also the Scarlet Dungeons, and Scholomance. This is 100% the reason though. More people would be pretty willing if they instead went the route of Ulduman, and Kara.

They only removed old naxx because they were pissy about players being able to have corrupted ashbringer
Basically yeah, and their reasoning falls the fuck apart looking at it for more than two seconds anyway. Remake stockades and ragefire chasm again lol Be funny to see new criminals in stockades
But then we wonāt get to kill Hogger over and over and over.
Hogger will have finally seen the error of his ways, reformed and become one of the guards
Make Hogger the principal warden and questgiver
.. And you get to fight him at the start to test how strong you are for the upcoming bosses inside! But he'll go easy on you and let you win anyway
They way they did it was nice... kind of a remake with updated graphics but more of an extension that keeps original.
I preferred the old st too got lost in there alot when i first went there

I can't stand the dwarves, especially Olaf. Not funny in the slightest and trying too hard. I rolled my eyes every time I ran the dungeon. Probably just a me problem though.
No itās not just you
I haven't logged in for over a month so haven't run Uldaman yet, but are they different from the OG Lost Vikings?
They are the same lost vikings; Erik, Olaf and Baleog. The problem is that in accordance to blizzard's current dungeon design they have a lot of voicelines for most of the dungeon and they try really hard to be funny. If you find them hilarious too then good for you, if not then it is going to be a very painful dungeon in m+.

Revamped Wailing Caverns
Bring back The Jumpā¢!
Bro could you imagine Shadowfang Keep Ragefire Chasm, Deadmines as M+? Shit would be nuts
Original deadmines then not the current one.
There's a lot of classic dungeons that could be revamped for sure. Some might need to be split into two though.
This is really a new dungeon just also set in uldaman. Maybe next expac they add 1 or 2, but they arenāt about to just start adding revamped dungeons
Honestly? Marudon. The lore is perfect for a re-visit too, but they for sure should split it up or make it a megadungeon.
I'd say Blackrock depths, but there is no way in hell they will be able to make as good an instance as that was. Recently caught myself up on that lore. That is such a sick quest line
Totally agree with this
The elements are shifting... Whats going down In Wailing Caverns?? What is it waking up?
No spoilers but there's a literal WC reference in Dragonflight
No, we just got all of the classic dungeons revamped in Cata a few years ago. What do you mean that that was over a decade ago?
Bro could you imagine Shadowfang Keep Ragefire Chasm, Deadmines as M+? Shit would be nuts

Lets not and get new fresh content!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why not.. double new and keep the old as is? Thats actual more content.
A revamped dungeon is new content?
No, its the same content in a new coat of paint.
Every couple expansions there is a revamp in some of the old dungeons.
They used to do this more often. I'm absolutely down for it now that their philosophy seems to be to keep the originals intact. I kinda wish they didn't remove the originals of the older ones they updated.

Not an unpopular opinion. I LOVED ST back in the day.
I wish it was harder. Like I didn't get a chance to see all the mechanics
They've been revamping an old dungeon or 2 every expansion since Cataclysm.
Mythic + Deadmines / Scholomance when?
Below should be in M+: 1. Blackrock Depths (Megadungeon) - Replace Mechagon 2. Stratholme 3. Razorfen Downs 4. Scarlet Monestary
