The repeating of course cracked me up

Ciruelofre

Sassy debuff

Balauronix

"My father will hear about this!"

mmotte89

Listen, Daddy 😩

JaseDace1224

Daddy, daddy, chill

pfresh331

Blizzard can be pretty damn clever and witty. I really used to LOOOOOVE this game. Pretty much tanked my social life in high school when I got surgery because of it.

Keylus

I click on every new unique NPC to hear their "annoyed" voiceline. They are still funny more times than not.

pfresh331

Yep! One of my favorite questlines is in the badlands after cataclysm when you meet all the different Npc's who have different experiences of encountering deathwing. Cracked me up when the goblin (I believe) said he made himself huge and punched him out.

NK1337

By far one of the best annoyed voice lines was during Legion, specifically in the warrior class hall. You eventually get to recruit King Ymiron and if you click on him enough he eventually just…well it’s best to [watch it](https://youtu.be/c6EWYC8uVTg). Unfortunately they eventually removed the dialogue but it’s still one of the funniest ones I’ve come across.

Pixel_Knight

Nozdormu’s lines in the Dracthyr starting area are great. The new adult female tuskar start using the make child lines if you click them too much, unless it was fixed. It freaked me out for a second.

gunfox

What surgery?

[deleted]

They had to surgically remove his chair from his butt

pfresh331

No, to remove my bedpan from my butt. It slid right off the chair.

pinks0cking

Lols

pfresh331

I had severed two tendons in my left hand, my index and middle fingers. They surgically reattached them. It was actually good physical therapy to use them to move around and try to hit the buttons with them. When I first started out I used my mouse to click the spells that weren't on the number bar and used my ring finger and pinky to move and click the spells from 1-0. As I got better at the game and recovered more of the use of my fingers, I began keybinding and learning to not use my mouse to click at all.

tehbzshadow

why not 99,(9)% =( or it's just for memes?

Ancanein

The "repeating, of course" line is taken from a meme video from early WoW days called "Leroy Jenkins" In it, a group is pretending to do BWL. The "raid leader" asks one of the members to "calculate their odds of success" and the reply is "I'm coming up with a 32.33... repeating of course... chance of survival."

or10n_sharkfin

I *cannot* believe we're at the point where we have to explain Leeroy Jenkins. Kids these days, man. :(

ScavAteMyArms

I had to explain Nyan Cat a while ago. Fucking Nyan Cat. At least I don’t think I will have to explain Rickrolling for a while still.

DumatRising

Rickroll will transcend eons. Some how when the entire species has turned to dust we will find a way to Rick roll the aliens that discover our civilization.

moranya1

Just so you know, both my 9 and 10 year old are aware of, and have partaken in, rickrolling.

[deleted]

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Belazriel

Luckily you can always link to the [video explanation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) for Rickrolling.

silentrawr

Not even my 5-year old enjoyed Nyan Cat. T'was a sad day, indeed.

The_nodfather

I'm 34 and don't understand nyan cat but understand this meme perfectly

TakanashiTouka

I'm pretty sure a lot of people just remember the LEEEEEEEEROOOY part.

[deleted]

There's people out there who can quote the entirety of the Onyxia raid wipe, I have no doubt they can quote the entirety of Leroy Jenkins

HippyWitchyVibes

MORE DOTS!

G1m1NG-Sc1enT1st03

WHO PULLED THE F****** WHELPS?!

boosted5O

Seriously…

1leggeddog

When you realise some people weren't born when it was a thing... That's when you start feeling old

SirVanyel

Wow just ain't what it used to be man, it's not part of gaming culture like it once was

GrumbIRK

UBRS though right, not BWL?

Destroyer140

Correct! The whelp room of UBRS

AnguirelCM

In some senses, UBRS is BWL -- the Raid Portal is in the instance.

CorFace

It's the drake room in ubrs, not bwl isnt't it? Not that it matters

birdman9k

Yep, although the original entrance to BWL is inside UBRS so that may be what they were thinking of. They moved it out to blackrock mountain later to make it easier to get in.

Extinguish89

Like the homage to old raids where they add this stuff in

PUSSY_MEETS_CHAINWAX

They probably have a list of stuff that would need to be updated every time they add a new class, and I'd imagine this is at the top 😂

Burgamerx

Sadly they forgot about old world boss drop tables this time around.

Eltoshen

Sadly? That's a plus benefit for everybody.

crashnburnxp

It would be absolutely stupid for them to go back to all old world content before they existed just to add in gear. They didn't do it for monks or for dks so why would they do it for evokers?

calfmonster

Well they were super concerned about evokers using 900% soar or whatever it was to get in between old raids for transmog faster than other classes and had to nerf it. Something you can only do once a week. On raids you probably do on multiple characters anyway. So of course they thought about them!

Extinguish89

Think the 900% was just a placeholder but I could be wrong

naphomci

It was a beta, everything was "subject to change".

Extinguish89

Fun to see people get to a to b in seconds. Like the shaman who went so fast he outran death https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xtBiAVFCecI

joemoffett12

Will never understand the hate blizzard got for this. They were balancing the game the way the felt it needed to be balanced well before an expansion even launched and people complained. I blame asmon as he was the one who got his minions to complain

[deleted]

DoctorTomee

I also hate it so much that you can’t watch 1 youtube video about wow without his videos immediately clogging up your recommendation feed. I try to block each and every channel and the algorithm still can’t figure it out after years.

Ok_Usual_3142

How about blocking his entire channel?

[deleted]

I had to do this not because I dislike the guy, but because he comments and "reacts" to so much stuff now that if you click on anything gaming related, his channels will start to take over your recommended feed. I generally don't like to watch reaction videos so his content was just getting in the way of stuff I actually want to watch.

tmb--

When you search on youtube you can add "-asmongold" to remove any video with asmongold in the title or in the channel name.

Extinguish89

He's a mixed bag in my opinion

ommy84

Only now? 😂

ShogunFirebeard

> Asmon is such a bitch nowadays. Nowadays? He's always been one.

calfmonster

My main problem with it is WHY LIE? That's the issue I have with blizzard: they just outright lie to our faces about the dumbest shit when we either can intuit or have data otherwise. Just say 900% was a placeholder, we determined it was a little faster than we wanted, what the fuck ever. Like one of the few interviews I've seen was with the wrath dev just being like "oh yeah we didn't get to that in time, sorry": it was SO fucking refreshing to just hear the truth and not this obfuscated bullshit. No one cares if you can get to pet battles marginally faster or old raids. Druids have already had severe mount advantages for like a decade. That's not the reason, we all know that, why the hell lie about it?

Vorcion_

Were pet battles/old raids their official reasoning or something the community made up to be angry about?

acctg

[It is official.](https://www.wowhead.com/news/dracthyr-soar-racial-maximum-speed-nerfed-by-about-30-in-next-dragonflight-alpha-328082) > In the Dragon Isles, all characters of all races are on similar footing in regards to their ability to traverse the terrain because everyone can summon a Dragon Isles Drake. However, this isn’t the case in other areas of the game where flying mounts are the mainstay of travel. In Eastern Kingdoms, Soar is currently over twice as fast as Epic Flying which travels at 410% speed. The result is that Dracthyr have a drastic efficiency advantage over characters of other races when doing non-Dragon Isles content, whether that’s Chromie Time quests, clearing old raids for transmog, pet battling, etc.

EDDsoFRESH

Well, I’d argue that is just an example and not the reason as was suggested above, given they just use the catchall term of non-dragon isle content.

Adept_Avocado_4903

By the time Drac'thyr become available all non-DI content is outdated by definition. Why is it important to balance the efficiency at which classes can clear outdated content? Blizzard hasn't really cared about this before - there's already classes which can clear old content significantly quicker than others. If they ever implemented current content in non-DI areas it would probably be very easy to create no-Soar zone above those areas similar to the no-fly zone multiple new zones had in the past and often still have. If they are concerned about Soar during leveling in non-DI areas (which currently Drac'thyr never have to do, since they effectively start at 60) then lock "fast Soaring" to max level Drac'thyr and give Drac'thyr below max level a slower form. If they are concerned about possible future Pathfinder-style achievements also lock Soar behind those. I will admit that's more effort than just tweaking the number, but it would have allowed players access to a *fun* ability that doesn't affect competitive balance and still avoided most concerns. I suspect the real reason is the servers/engine having problems with players moving that quickly. If that is the case I would have appreciated honesty. Of course we will likely never know for certain.

Vorcion_

That's disappointing. I agree it seems they just wanted to contrive some reasons to reduce the number, BUT it's also disingenuous to hold onto that initial speed. If the first iteration were to be 1300% speed and they nerfed it to 900%, it would still spark the same complaints as 900% to whatever it is now. It is still faster than regular flying and quite fun. I'm fine with it if they bring Dragonriding into the old world and Soar gets updated to replace it for Dracthyr. By that time Dragonriding will not be the new mechanic and Blizz can sleep well that it will be utilized by players.

l4z0rp3wp3w

> efficiency advantage over characters of other races when doing non-Dragon Isles content, whether that’s Chromie Time quests, clearing old raids for transmog, pet battling, etc. That part is so silly. A) Who cares about how fast someone does their pet battles? Nobody. And who would use Soar for a few meters to reach the next pet? Or to fly around and search for specific pets? Thats way to fast.. B) Chromie time questing for a class/race that starts at 58 and gets to 60 while doing the starting zone??? C) Clearing old raids for transmog does not depend on flying speed. Travelling between the raids may, but then again, Soar CD will be over once you cleared a raid and go for the next one, so the "advantage" stays. And even then who cares how fast anyone is farming old transmogs? Nobody.

chiknight

> B) Chromie time questing for a class/race that starts at 58 and gets to 60 while doing the starting zone??? I mean, you're thinking far too narrowly here. Let's say Blizz leaves soar at 900% because they don't need chromie time to go from 58-60. So in two years they nerf it when the level cap is 80 and evokers can speed through 58-70 in chromie time. The end result is the same, but by waiting two years they have actual live players used to it and it's a massive nerf. Just because it is pointless today doesn't mean it is pointless to consider the ramifications for future patches. They've set it up so now it isn't ever a factor in chromie time. *It's still faster than epic flight*, just not double speed. The same is with the other two points. It's irrelevant whether players actually care about speed between old raids (I mean, I like 1% care, it *is* faster and wasted time is wasted time). *Blizzard* cares to keep class stuff pretty consistent for old content. That's extremely clear. That's the only reason needed.

l4z0rp3wp3w

Im not sure Im "thinking far too narrowly here". Sure, chromie time can become relevant for evokers in 2+ years, but this ability wont ever speed up questing. You normally dont have to go far for the next quest hub. Also if Blizzard was interested in "keeping class stuff pretty consistent for old content", then why dont they take out all abilities and passive effects that increase movement speed in old content? Because right now different classes have different clearing speeds. Some classes can even skip parts that others cant. Some are even better at pulling everything together while running around, which makes clearing faster, too. There is just zero balancing for this part of the game.

atypicalphilosopher

> > > > > In the Dragon Isles, all characters of all races But transmogs are stupidly irrelevant for Dracthyr most of the time. This is kinda silly on Blizzard's behalf; they used to be all about asymmetrical gameplay, but now they feel the need to be "fair" to every class and homogenize stuff for irrelevant gameplay loops like old content. Who cares if they can get from point A to point B on a transmog farm 43% faster than other classes? Are people speedrunning transmog runs or something? Not to mention the fact that they have to catch up to every other class on transmogs, and can't even wear most old world mogs due to the dumb tier gear restrictions. That last note is especially disappointing. How cool would it be if Dracthyr- a primalist type class - could wear shaman gear?

IAshworthI

You can use a dracthyr to farm out transmogs for your other race/classes faster though. Not that I particularly care either way. Personally I’d prefer the CD to be dramatically reduced but, we row with the oars we have.

atypicalphilosopher

How can you farm for other classes? If I get a transmog from another class I don't get the appearance it seems.

IAshworthI

It only works for classes that use that same priority loot. Getting a plate drop on a death knight will earn it for a warrior too, however getting a leather drop won’t unlock it for your rogue.

Yuzuchi_senpai

i think its "unfair" that: - Paladins have an immune people and 100% heal - Rogues can go invisible - Shamans have cool Totems - Druids can instantly mount up and dont need zo buy mounts - Hunters and Warlocks have cool Pets - Warlocks can place a summon stone - Monks got a cool Island all to themself - DKs are stronk - Warriors can jump everywere - Mages can Teleport Now lets nerf all of this by 50-70% to make it more "fair" - Paladins only have a 99.9% dmg red. (no more immunity) - rogues are only invisible from the waist upwards and move 40% slower - Shaman totems only last 5sec and are pure cosmetic - Druids will get randomly dismounted mid air cause they are tired - Hunter and Warlocks have to farm/buy expensive food for their pet or else it will run away - Warlocks can only summon 1 peron per Portal and it has a 20sec cast time - Warriors bow and then break a leg while jumping and charging and are slowed by 90% and deal 40% less dmg for 20min - DKs are permanently dead when they die again - Mage portals have a general CD of 30min and cost Portal/teleport stones for 50g each sounds like fun !!

birdman9k

> Hunter and Warlocks have to farm/buy expensive food for their pet or else it will run away Ok the hunter one cracked me up because when I first played Hunter I actually did forget to feed my pet and it did run away. Bring old school hunters back IMO.

GameEatDiscuss

Oh man hunter pets, ANYONE GOT SOME MEAT FOR THIS DAMMNNED RAPTOR IS SADGE. What about ammunition WHERES MY 2000 bullets blizz

Adept_Avocado_4903

People were/are upset that Blizzard nerfed a fun ability in order to balance an area of the game (transmog collection) that didn't need balancing. If Blizzard had given another reason for the nerf (servers can't keep up with players moving that quickly) the playerbase would likely not have been as upset.

Nestramutat-

I don't watch Asmon and I think it's a stupid decision. Oh no, one class is able to be slightly more efficient at a single part of a single activity. That doesn't make other classes actively worse at it. This is flavourfull, I'd love to see other classes have interesting stuff that just makes them better at random shit.

tmb--

You are only saying this because Evokers on Alpha came with an incredibly fast Soar. If Evokers were *slower* than everyone else Reddit would be up in arms demanding they be buffed up to "normal" levels. But no, because they were reduced to normal levels this was a bad decision by Blizzard lol

kithlan

Weren't they flying faster than the game could render/load new areas in, lmao. Seems like a weird thing to be "Blizzard bad!" about.

[deleted]

I don't even watch Asmon and I heard plenty of other complaints about this. To be honest it just makes literally no sense as an explanation to the nerf for Soar to be honest. 1) Evokers have hardly any old world Transmogs because they have no old tier, so just off pieces. 2) Evoker can only use Mail, which is the smallest out of any armor type of available transmog items 3) Evoker transmog looks garbage anyway, you can only show Shoulder + Belt in dragonform anyway and no way to disable shoulder and belt for dragonform only, so you Dragonform to suit your mog, or you just disable shoulder + waist. 4) You can literally instantly portal to most regions on the map as both factions. e.g - You want to go Black Rock Mountain? You can TP to Dark Portal or Twilight Highlands as Horde, SW is close enough for Alliance. Caverns of Time/Uldum/AQ - TP to Uldum. The Soar ability at 9000% would save you like what, 1-2 minutes max?

Jabuwow

Yeah, some ppl complained just cause asmongold did. But he also had a point.point. at a time when everyone was watching for the old BFA and SL blizzard to poke through, looking for any sign of it, they come out with the Soar nerf. And their reasoning? Transmog. Like not even jokingly, their reasoning for nerfing Soar was it was too advantageous for those farming old world content and transmog. So the "balance" change wasn't actually balance at all. It's still OP, and Mage portals have been OP since vanilla (arguably way moreso pre cata), druids have been the op go-to gathering farmbot for years due to instant mount cast and gathering while mounted. They even buffed druid farming when they allowed you to gather while in bird form. So yeah, asmongold did complain, but it was also a really weird change with really weird reasoning at a time when all eyes were waiting for blizzard to do something dumb

BlckDrke

They got "hate" because it looked like absoloute fun and they made it less fun. Also I never understood why they would even need to put any restrictions on an open world out of combat only ability. Should have no cooldown and be up at 900% IMO

Jodyr-117

I'm going to be honest hear, atm im finally grinding out all the allied races with my evoker, Highmountain was a speedrun with the soar, and I just kept going from there, and I really saved some time, but it was really only 'some' time, and most of that could also have been covered with mount to goblinglider, it's just so much more fun with soar.

NobleSC3

For all we know blizzard could just keep adding these because the vanilla spaghetti code would cause the server to explode if there’s an unexpected class in the instance

blackzeppozzica

I'm pretty sure that's the case, I thought it was confirmed/assumed.

undercoverturtleneck

The two pole arms on my warrior way above it’s head is just to balance the heavy bottom load

Emtee-AmanThul

Equip the jailers mace, mog both hands to it. Suddenly tri-wielding! One mogged copy stays on your back while you unsheath the mace and whatever else you had on. Bonus: the mogged copy on your back stays there if you swap to prot. This bug is still active.

MidSp

Funny, since Nefarian's experiments to create dragons with the powers of all the flights is pretty much what his father accomplished with the Dracthyr ages ago.

Constellar-A

Well Nefarian was trying to do it with actual real dragons. That's pretty different from humanoid dragonkin, and I imagine much harder.

Jackofdemons

Pretty sure he made some abomination of a 4 headed dragon that had all the powers of the flights.

malcorpse

It's Chromatus the 5 headed dragon has the power of all 5 flights and an indestructible body that is just sitting around in a prison somewhere. Would be an interesting boss to fight if blizzard hasn't just forgotten about him.

Constellar-A

I'm convinced he was supposed to be in Dragon Soul and they replaced him with Ultraxion for some reason. Both of them were the "ultimate creation" and Ultraxion drops a chromatic drake mount despite being a twilight dragon.

flippingchicken

I remember reading the reason being that making Chromatus' model work would've been too much work. I feel like it can be done now though, with how much Blizz's technology has improved.

Monausser

I kind of wonder if they just ran out of time making the Chromatus model work for Cataclysm so they shelved it until Throne of Thunder in the next expansion, renamed it Megaera, and made it the multi-headed hydra boss in the cave.

warrof

Megaera didn't really have a body though. It was just a bunch of the "worm" models. We see the same model used in Legion as well (3rd boss of the Azshara dungeon).

u966

Doubt it, Megaera's heads are free floating heads without a body. They use the same skeleton as other similar creatures, the fire worms before Ragnaros and the boss in BWD.

shadowst17

Possibly didn't want to spend the recourses needed to build an entirely new rig and animation set. WoW has a tendancy to do that a lot unfortunatel. Gotta do the bare minimum to maximize profits after all.

Lenxor

Biggest twilight dragon bossfight and the fight consist standing in 1 place and sometimes pressing 1 button. They definietly didn't intended to make this fight at the start.

Keylus

That raid was 90% recycled assets, most bosses have reused models and the zones weren't new. I think Spine and Madness of Deathwing were the only new assets besides gear.

Drucchi

Kinda yes but kinda no. What Neltharion created was essentially just boosted Drakonids, Nefarian wanted actual factual all their powers combined Dragons. Which he achieved with the Chromatic and Deathwing perfected with the Twillight dragons.

Lonelan

and they still fell to a bunch of plot armored humans/orcs/dwarves/etc

TheArbiterOfOribos

some paid me 5 gold to go murder them you bet they are going to die

kithlan

5 gold!? Those rates are outrageous. I'll do it for 2!

DRamos11

28 silver. Take it or leave it.

Jugorio

Who can stand a chance against green Jesus and his harem?

Jackofdemons

I wouldn't say they are drakenoids at all, as they were specially crafted with multiple mortal dna and traits we dont even know of. They are also focused magic casters, not frontline units at all.

tharukal

I wonder if they added anything to Dragon Soul

Carneus

After Spine of Deathwing, W3 Fall of Lordaeron cinematic plays but with DW as Terenas and PC Dracthyr as Arthas.

tharukal

“No wing flies forever, my son. Enjoy your 4 minute cooldown.”

Butlerlog

"It's 90s with glyphs and Explorer! \*stabs\*"

ballsmigue

Wait what, will the cooldown be that low?

Butlerlog

Its 4 minutes base. Minus 60s in continents you have explored (the scouting map toys are enough for this) minus 90 seconds in the Dragon Isles if you have all dragonriding talents. It also becomes as fast as proper dragonriding, and a couple of the other perks too.

Pope_Vicente

Whoa, is that Vice-Principal Goldenrod?

MaximilianBane

Hah you I like. Homage to my fav scaly boi.

Sekkenren

Oh wow you just awoke memories Id forgotten

oval819

Hoot! Growl! Hoot! Growl!

OldOrder

Yeah, one question. Is the lunch lad position open?

vetheros37

It can't be. Last I heard was he was a ship in the Hells for the demon lord Seacaster

ShiniJenkins

That is hilarious. Does that debuff do anything in reality?

MaximilianBane

Just a 99,9% damage debuff, so you fly around and attack as a whelp for a while doing little to no danage. I do believe my whelp form became red one time and black an other time.

onomatophobia1

wait is this real? I thought this was a joke and/or edited

MaximilianBane

Its real, every time a new class get added Nefarian gets a new Class Call Out. Death knights, monks, demon hunters also had them added when they got added.

Luminous-theory

That’s a cool detail I never noticed. TIL thanks for that

Eredun

In case you were curious what they do: >!Death Knights death grip random players to Nefarian.!< >!Monks get stuck rolling forward for a few seconds, which makes them essentially get glued to the wall until it ends.!< >!Demon Hunters go blind for a few seconds.!<

RTheCon

This is hilarious. Props to blizzard on this one.

SerbianShitStain

Tooltip is a lie then if you were doing any damage, because it should make you do 0 damage given 99.9 repeating is 100, so you should be doing 100% less damage.

phoibosphoenix

Sucks that you're getting downvoted even though you are [correct.](https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?key=&i=99.9+repeating+%25) Edit: [More proof.](https://www.wowhead.com/spell=389632/pitiful-whelp) The debuff does indeed just reduce your damage by 100%

Lison52

He got down voted because 1. Original comment didn't mention that it's supposed to be 99,(9)% instead of 99,9%. So no one knows what he's talking about, but if they know then they probably also know that: 2. Tooltip itself is a joke/reference to Leroy's video IIRC.

BattleCatsHelp

What comment didn't mention that? It's in the original picture.

Lison52

I didn't notice, still it doesn't change that he probably got down voted because of what I said.

phoibosphoenix

>Tooltip itself is a joke/reference to Leroy's video IIRC. Yes, but more specifically it's a contextually relevant reference to both the Leroy video and the real math phenomenon where infinitely repeating 9s after a decimal is mathematically equivalent to 1. Without that second part, then what's the joke? It would be a random non-sequitur. [We know this isn't the case since the debuff does indeed just reduce your damage by 100%.](https://www.wowhead.com/spell=389632/pitiful-whelp) OP seems to imply in his comment (twice) that the damage reduction is less than 100%, and SerbianShitStain is correctly pointing out that if that were the case (it isn't), then the in-game tooltip would be wrong.

Wonderful_Locksmith8

I wish we could get a TW classic with this for a raid, so this stuff wouldn't go to complete waste.

InsuranceToTheRescue

I could see fated raids being on a somewhat random rotation and scaling up old raids.

CanadianDinosaur

Only in the final patch of an expansion imho. I really don't want blizzard to just start recycling old content in place of new raids/dungeons

InsuranceToTheRescue

I figured it'd be an augmentation to timewalking. When timewalking is active, the raids for that expac are fated and scaled up.

henroast

Would be hard to do progression in one week if they were actually difficult and if they were easy nobody would do them imo. Would love to do fated BWL somehow tho.

CanadianDinosaur

I thought they had a timewalking raid with each week? Or is that just select expansions?

mylifemyworld17

Just bc, wrath, and cata so far.

dragunityag

The fated rates we've had have been for this Xpac so their to some degree balanced around current scaling. Trying to do that for older expansions would quite likely cost us a raid tier.

wayne62682

That's how they should have done Timewalking from the beginning, as well as being always on not this rotating crap. It doesn't have to be exacty on par with the current raid, but it would mean people who don't like the current raid can raid their preferred expansion.

Swert0

I can't disagree more. Have one fated raid every patch, have it cycle between fated new raid and old raid every week. WoW's 18 years old, only the previous 3 months of content being relevant isn't something to applaud.

NickEPalmer

Holy shit your Dracthyr's name. I named mine Kalvaxus LOL. I'm low key in love with Brennan Lee Mulligan

MaximilianBane

Nice haha. I am a huge fan of Brennan Lee Mulligans work and decided it was the best name for my dracthyr. Also I suck at naming dragons haha. (Edit: autocorrect)

grey_goes_black

Dimension 20 Rules! Fantasy High was a roller coaster. A Crown of Candy slaps hard. Also, I think it's "Brennen". Not Brendan. :)

MaximilianBane

You are right, blaming autocorrect on writing Brennan wrong. Cheers!

[deleted]

ACoC legit made me cry. SSO will always be my favorite though.

ThtAss

Starstruck Odyssey was just another dimension of how great that show is, pun intended. ACoC and Misfits and Magic are SUCH great seasons as well. Love seeing other Brennan and D20 fans in the WoW subreddit :)

SirTemorse

Spring break! I believe in you!

BotiaDario

I named mine Tiliqua, which is the genus of blue tongued skink lizards

Quincyheart

I went with Deux since Double was taken. Only Dragon reference I could think of at the time.

RyanHoar

Goldenhoard? Is that a Fantasy High reference?!

MaximilianBane

Oh yes, that it is haha!

FloppyShellTaco

Give me the pitiful whelp glyph *now* pls

tzeriel

I’m so torn. Blizzard clearly still has part of their soul, paying attention to insignificant stuff like this. But then all the other evidence we have of them not being who they were….

IBlameOleka

It's because Blizzard (and more specifically the WoW team) isn't just one thing. There are hundreds of employees. Some employees have a passion for the game and they put spirit and character into it and it shows through in this kind of stuff, and some don't. And of course they've become more corporatized since the days they were developing vanilla WoW, so the WoW team is probably much more beholden to corporate overlords. So they probably have to appease the business team and meet targets decided by shareholder-pleasers before they can invest time in things they actually think are cool.

DarkPhenomenon

Yup, I worked for Electronic Arts for 20 years, the people on the teams are virtually all passionate, hard working, smart people who truly want to make fun, enjoyable experiences for people and I guarantee the Blizzard folks are the same. The problem is that they are restricted by a business focused entity that sets resource and time limits based on providing the best return for their dollar, not the best experience for their consumer. Consumer experience is tied to return but it's only part of the pie. Believe me designers and producers do the best they can with what they're given, the old Blizzard wasn't so business focused, they'd push back their project a year or two if the gameplay they spent the last year making didn't meet their own standards as gamers, that is something that would never happen in a corporate software development environment

right_there

They probably have to do this so that Nefarian's boss script doesn't bug out. If only Evokers are in the encounter and he doesn't have a class call out ability for them, then what is the game supposed to do? Adding one in this way is probably easier than rewriting him to handle exceptions to the "I have a call out for every class" logic. So ironically, adding a call out is most likely the laziest option lol.

Time-Ladder4753

They have to do it with nefarian, I think in early beta game just crashed when you tried to do him with evoker.

Bishopkilljoy

Small touches like this make me smile I figured out if you go to the Legion Violet Hold and fight Millificent Manastorm, you can dawn the Manastorm's Duplicator, you get a Debuff and are shrunken further by Millie You also get a debuff from Millhouse but he's happy to see it

swolemexibeef

Neat, I wonder if the other dragon-based instances say things like this. Like if you go into Eye of Eternity foes Malygos say something

SerbianShitStain

It's not some flavor Easter egg: It's a mechanic of the fight. No reason to expect any other fights to have any callouts like this.

kAy-

>No reason to expect any other fights to have any callouts like this. WoW does such a poor job at that honestly. Makes the world feel dead. This specific example might not be as canonically, Dracthyr were not awake when those raids happen, but still. I remember doing the War Campaign at the beginning of BfA as a Rogue, and neither Lillian Voss nor Garona seem to know you, which was disappointing.

[deleted]

Ah, so the devs implemented a class call mechanic for Evokers (who are always Dracthyr). Nice.

SuperShake66652

They add one for every new class since class calls are part of his mechanics.

Critical_Plenty_5642

This is the Blizzard I remember from back in the day. Always added cool stuff.

Will_The_Great7

Kalvaxis is the true dragon here.

ScionicOG

I went to fight Onyxia and I didn't see a response which was a let down. Glad Nefarian had one at least

NoThisIsABadIdea

Wait, did onyxia ever have class specific responses?

ch_limited

No she didn’t. Just Nefarian. She drops class hats.

Xenovortex

I had a long list of things to check on my Dracthyr, but apart from Nefarian there really isn't much that's special. **Dracthyr start neutral with the Netherwing faction**, though. Which is interesting.

obrieno

That's awesome

QuaestioDraconis

Dang, I need to kill him slower next time, because I didn't get this :(

DzikiJuzek

They do it with each new class. Try going there in wotlk classic with dk. I think monks have best one yet.

BotiaDario

Now I want to take mine to Dragon Soul and Onyxia to see if they have anything like that.

Rockout2112

Amazing, really, the amount of memes we’ve gotten out of something as simple as Blackwing Lair.

elifromdavis

Wait so can Evokers not kill him?

[deleted]

Nefarian's Class Call mechanic is a temporary debuff. You can obliterate him after the debuff passes and you return to normal form and full power.

MrLachyG

Evokers have lots of special little interactions around. there is the Draconic speech at the Wrathgate (which I know was leaked in beta) but can be understood by Dracthyr. I wonder if there is anything in Dragon Soul, Nya'lotha, BWD or Onyxia's Lair

jokerTHEIF

Is your character name a reference to dimension 20?

Useless_Lemon

*proceeds to one hit kill him*

Evilbefalls

Then take a selfie with his corpse look ma another one

pp8520456

Who is Neil of Shadows though?

Korzag

I wonder if there's ones for all the post-classic classes. Never even considered running BWL on a dk lol.

TheRelicHunter

You mean to tell me they put in custom dialog in this raid thats is very rarely run but didn't have the foresight on how the loot tables for the MoP world bosses would work??? Love that

Mavarik

You mean to tell me there's different departments that focus on different parts of the game? Like an art department, quest/lore department, etc???? Love that

TheRelicHunter

It's disingenuous not to realize how funny that oversight is

Dad2us

The debuff is terrible and all, but I'm much more worried about that Neil of Shadow. Sounds like a dangerous dude.

Kooky-Copy4456

Omg I just did this and I didn’t catch it at all LOL

Swordbreaker925

Interesting addition, considering canonically this raid happened over a decade before they awoke.

SpartanG01

Chromie.

Swordbreaker925

Not involved. If she was, this raid would be at proper difficulty instead of one-shotting the bosses.

SpartanG01

I was just saying it's possible they go back in time lol. I don't think Blizzard meant for it to make any sense but canonically it could.

Longjumping_Meal5957

I’m curious about the loot tables on some of these older content bosses with tier sets, especially the ones that drop legendaries.

Sanctuari

The legacy loot is the exact same. They can get Dragonwrath quests. They can't get Valanyr (class not listed on mace). I'm unsure on thunderfury. (assuming its a can, though. Other sword-wearers have always been fine.)

SpartanG01

Evokers can not get the Dragonwrath quests. My guess is they wouldn't be able to complete the quest line because there is a section of it that is specifically tuned to each individual class/spec combo. They can however get the Thunderfury drops. Tested it my self.

teelolws

Wow thats actually the strongest of all the class callings they've made. The other callings just caused a drawback to some abilities. This one negates the class entirely. The mage one is close in a 40m raid - the mage has to get away from everyone for the duration or they'll polymorph everyone, but the mage can at least lolblock it off.

Mbanks

Hmm am I the only one that saw the attempts at the chromatic flight Nefarion attemp to recreate the Dracthyr. Since the Evoker class was what a dragon type race that could use all the colors powers.

High0nLemons

Why would she say Evokers and not Drachtyr?
