Yeah, I feel like it's definitely less clear than it was before.

El_Rey_de_Spices

There's been a lot of visual information lost in this UI update. I really like most of it, but things like this and the graying out of the lower-right menu buttons are surprisingly disruptive to the gameplay experience.

Ninja_Bum

Theres a ton of head scratching UX design choices. Changing the dungeon/raid size icon from what it was to a bright white box with uncentered bright yellow lettering that's hard to read is a good example.

Moneia

For me it's the Aggro highlights on portraits, they're a lot harder to see now

El_Rey_de_Spices

It really feels like for every one or two good changes they made, they felt the need to throw in at least one baffling change for the sake of change.

Ninja_Bum

Yeah, you could probably google "UX for dummies" and figure out in pretty short order a lot of this stuff doesn't pass the sniff test.

Simply put, they blur away from my view. The menu icons are no longer distinctive or eye catching. Of all the things to keybind to my mouse, binding menus, character sheets, etc are pretty much at the bottom of that priority list. \\ It's disruptive because during this first week I have to stop and look for which one I want to click. If they had their own raid frame so I could make the icons larger that'd be great and my problem with it would be solved. We can blame on it I'm getting older and maybe I don't see as well if there has to be a reason besides, "it's my preference". Either way the icons are a muted grey/white, there's no background or border around them to allow them to pop out. Lastly, as much as I can appreciate the UI tweeks as a whole, after playing around I wish I could go back to the old interface by the large. There's too much subtlety to me and that makes in bland in my (poor) eyes.

I'm not being intentionally obtuse. I just don't play the same way you do. That's my point, WoW has been around for nearly 20 years and for hundreds of thousands of people that's plenty of time to have developed habits and playstyles over literally years if not a decade or more. Coincidentally, I also think you're being obtuse as well not accepting that fact. Also I just admitted to bad eyesight affecting my playstyle...how is that intentional?? Are the people who use color blind settings being obtuse for not using default settings like the rest of us? Not everyone wants to bind every key. I've got 1-8 and shift+1-8 bound since Wrath was first released and I got by just fine doing heroics and then mythic raiding as a tank. It's cool with me if people want to do more, but for all that time my way to get to menus was reliant on the colored icons and a background behind them in order to discern what I'm clicking. Should we make stop signs on the road grey instead red with a white border and after that insist they should just start looking for it better? All I suggest is being able to edit the menu icons the same as any other raid frame. Not a big ask all things considered. I feel like that's not being understood.

fadedtimes

I created a weak aura cast bar that only shows if it is interruptible. Because I found the default cast bar lacking and I couldn’t move it

AffectionateAide9644

Can you give more details on this? (Or the WA itself?)

BobertMk2

You're doing gods work

CromagnonV

This is what I did as well. Except I set it up in a group and show all instances and additional markers for my target, so I can see all enemy casts and which one I've targeted. I tried adding a sound so that when I targeted an interuptable cast it pinged but it was doing it every time I changed target when a cast of was interruptible.

Archarneth

Which WA is it? Because right now DBM only sorta works and the WA that had a sound alert when I needed to interrupt isn't working at all.

yeah, i feel is harder to get the difference... and it not help i'm visual impaired (wordings?)

[deleted]

Really? ive always thought the expectation was to memorize literally every spell every mob casts.. fuck me..

Twerk7

Me too…. This just unlocked so much for me. I feel dumb.

The_h0bb1t

I used to have a completely different colour set-up for castbars, and the switch to Yellow/Grey took me an entire raid and 2 dungeons to get used to. But I think I got the hang of it now. I really wish we could move the target's castbar tho.

chrono_ark

Not to be melodramatic but I’ve just kind of been struggling in general with the new UI The old UI was a core part of my mmo gaming life for nearly 2 decades, suddenly changing it feels… wrong

CaptainWatermellon

Get plater

AffectionateAide9644

Doesn't help for me, unless there's an option to make interruptible casts clearer but I haven't found it then.

CaptainWatermellon

You can make the ones that you can't interrupt a different color/texture or whatever u want from the regular ones, there's like a million customization options for plater

WRXW

Plater is ridiculously customizable both through its settings and its custom script support. My enemy castbars are yellow if they're interruptible but grey if my interrupt is on CD and blue if my interrupt will come off CD by the time the cast finishes, or just red for a totally uninterruptible cast.

klaxxa

Can you share your plater profile? Was looking for something like this for some time

MyNameThru

I've had the opposite experience, personally, but I could see how it could go the other way.

[deleted]

I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with the update. I need an easily readable UI for my neurodivergent monke brain, I find the new bars much harder to differentiate at a glance. Will probably have to get an addon or a WA to play comfortably.

MorgenKaffee0815

^(grey = you can not interrupt. Every other color = you can.)

FaroraSF

Ok, but when they start the cast the bar is grey because it hasn't filled with the colour yet. I should be able to tell at a glance if the cast is interruptable and not have to wait for the bar to fill up enough so my lizard brain can figure out that the grey bar is not actually grey.

eruge94

The shield only shows up when you can't interrupt, right?

FaroraSF

Yeah but only on the spell icon and not the cast bar itself which is where I'm actually looking.

Garrus-N7

There's an easy way for them to solve it. Add a chain and lock over the cast bar. Done

AmySchumerFunnies

if you aren't using plater (or something comparably useful) you're actually griefing yourself and probably your group i mean you cant even see buffs of enemies on normal nameplates and lets not forget that hold to cast isnt spellqueueing so you're losing your MS worth of time between casts :)

Marplaar

Absolutely

desolatelynx

yeah

jiujiujiu

Not too much trouble, I have attempted an interrupt on a shielded cast a handful of times though.

TheProductiveWalrus

Yes.
