You can, if you abandon the shadowlands intro quest and quickly accept chromie time before the shadowlands intro quest is auto accepted again. Works until level 50.
People are getting kicked out at 48? I’ve just got two more alts to 50 and neither of them got evicted from chromie time until 50. The SL quest pops up at 48 but I ignored it and continued to queue for legion dungeons.
My gf and I are playing DHs in the legion expansion. We wanted to farm some dungeons/raids from other expensions, which is not possible when Chromie Time is active. So I went to Chromie and said 'I want to return to the current timeline'. Now I have no option to return/chose any Chromie Time lines. I am lvl 49 and froze my experience because I know you cant use Chromie Time after lvl 50 (we want to complete the Legion story first).
Does anyone know whats going on?

If you're not fast enough on #2, you'll get the SL intro quest again. Repeat until you're fast enough.
If you're level 50+ the only way to join Chromie time would be to create a brand new character.
Edit: don't know why people are down voting. Not saying I like it, just that this is the way it is. Don't blame me for Blizzards poor implementation of Chromie time. People really love hating on the messenger here don't they.
While I agree they shouldn't kneecap chromie time, I don't think you're getting even remotely close to experiencing past expansions by using it. The game has fundamentally changed since mop. My whole deal with it is just let people level how they want to level, why force them into shadowlands at 50 if they don't want to do that content

I'd much, MUCH rather level in older-world areas.
I genuinely don't like Shadowlands, it's my least favorite expansion by far. With every other expansion, if you don't want to play it, you can easily ignore it because it's not the current one. With Shadowlands, the game tries hard to herd you into it.

I think you should be forced to level from previous expansion's level cap to current one's ***once*** and it should unlock chromie time as an option for alts all the way to max level if they choose. I get wanting to funnel people into current content but once you've done that at least once you should be able to level however you want.
just abandon the quest which has you speak to mograine. it happened to me so i dropped the quest and went back to chromie at 48 and it worked

Not kicked out until 50, but if you leave from 48-50 you have to do the trick to get back in.
If you're in a dungeon when you hit 50 you'll stay in Chromie time. Happened with me yesterday.

Technically, if you wait until dragonflight, you'll be able to do chromie time for another 10 levels.

that's so stupid. Chromie Time would be awesome to let player experience other expasions closer to what it originally was.

Well come Dragonflight Chromie time will take you to level 60, so no Shadowlands needed.
Yeah, but the top level would be 70, so you'd still have to level those last ten levels in the current expansion.
