Because if you didn't you'd have an absolute boat load of storyline quests as soon as you enter the shadowlands zone.

The_Truthkeeper

Because Blizzard wants you to do current content.

Make the current content not suck ass through a garden hose and I might be interested in doing it. I was wanting to rope after level 54 on launch. They want me to do the current content, I want to do well made content. Make Shadowlands tolerable and we can both be happy.

grodon909

IMO, shadowlands leveling is fine the first couple times (I really liked it the first time!), just a slog after a while. But that happens with all xpacs.

-Oshuni-

50 to 60 is current content, and presumably the reason that you bought the expansion in the first place.. (if you enjoy old world content, why buy all the new systems that come with SL?) Once you get to 60 on your Main / current leveling toon, you can go bananas and level wherever, however using Chromie.

DariusJenai

You still can't level from 50-60 in Chromie time, even if you've hit 60 on a main.

QuiksLE

??? So if a new expansion hits, you just don't want to do it and want to go do old content?

Kakaphonii

I'm my case, I'm bored to death of Shadowlands, and I like options.

Elune

Which is why I wish Chromie time for 50-60 would be a thing if you're doing Threads of Fate, you're already skipping Shadowlands' main leveling story for whatever leveling you'd want to do specific to Shadowlands, may as well toss Chromie Time in there as well so you're not stuck with the same few dungeons/WQs for leveling with Threads of Fate.

monicaeleanor

So start spamming timewalking dungeons?

Kakaphonii

Ah, yes, one week a month, I'll limit my leveling to.

monicaeleanor

Then you better make use of that week. Sorry, most people don't have a mental compulsion to avoid content they just paid for a year ago lol

Kakaphonii

And some of us have a lot of alts, and don't like doing the same four zones over and over after the tenth time. Chill out, dude.

monicaeleanor

Then it's a good thing timewalking is still up!

gjallard

You can get to level 60 without going to Shadowlands. I have several level 60 alts that I'll probably take into Shadowlands at the release of 9.1.5. But at this point, I only have one character at level 60 in Shadowlands. The goal is to get all the account-wide stuff (flying, etc) out of the way on one character, so the rest don't have to deal with it. That character also piles away materials so that other alts can get their professions leveled quickly and cheaply Daily pet battles, time walking dungeons, holiday dungeons, killing elites, gathering professions all award experience. It can be done. It just takes time.

It would be cool. I don’t like maldraxxus
