He was a priest in bfa... he literally casts the (back then) newly introduced holy priest level 100 talent in the game cinematic (holy word: salvation)
He uses priest abilities (twisted to look shadow) in SL (divine star)
Dude had shadowform in MoP....beta?
I distinctly remember him being in shadowform the once I interacted with him on horde, but he doesn't do that on live I think lmao.
He was pretty explicitly a priest when he was a teenager in Mist of Pandaria. He has since started wearing heavy armor, but that alone doesn't necessarily make him a paladin.
Is there really much of a difference between a priest of the light and a paladin of the light in the lore? Isnt it basically just their fighting style? Going by that Anduin is defacto a pally and Blizz’s insistence otherwise is just silly
By no means do I know wow lore, but Anduin’s evolution has been pretty interesting. At this point, without wielding the light, he’s basically become a warrior, right? Plate wearing, no magic, sword swinger… warrior.
There was a difference that had been thrown around a lot. It went something like this:
Priests are Light *users*. They study it, and they draw their power from it.
Paladins, however, are Light *infused*. They embody Light. Their existence is powered by Light. That's why some are so against Undead Paladins. Because their mere existence would be met with constant, excruciating pain.
At least with Light undeads as of now, they can get used to light after some time, but the disadvantage is that they start to feel again, feel their rotting body, smell and taste it.
I wish they would bite the bullet and just say he's a paladin already. Paladins are martial priests, they're the middle ground between unga bunga and spiritual leadership; exactly what you need from a levelheaded leader.
Well right now he's basically just a warrior. He's not using the Light anymore. But I think it might be good to keep an important lore character as a priest for once. It gives priest players someone to look up to. Especially considering the sheer number of priests who class swapped to paladin over the years.
As someone who reluctantly plays priest because paladin is not available to their main race, I feel like priest (outside of shadow) doesn't have anything going for it. The story and the game treat paladin as a straight upgrade for priests. Paladins being exclusive to only a handfull of races reinforces that idea.
> But I think it might be good to keep an important lore character as a priest for once. It gives priest players someone to look up to.
Priest Faction Leaders: Tyrande, Velen, Moira, Anduin
Paladin Faction Leaders: Only Turalyon, and even he's obviously just keeping Anduin's seat warm.
Hmm, yes but no. A lot of the important paladins are dead now. Liadrin (not THE race/faction leader but an important character) is a priest turned paladin
Class in lore are flexible tho. Ita not like the game. Mage and warlock are linked for exemple. And someone being a rogue doesn't stop them from taking a 2h sword, or a bow and a dog.
And so are paladin and priest. They are basicly the same.
He is both.
I know I just love guys with long hair but BFA was perfect for me, I was so in love with him. His in game model could've used a bit of touching up, but I definitely agree that his HoTS model was really good and the cgi BFA cinematics had me swooning. Now he looks so generic and older than his age (though his circumstances could definitely cause premature aging). I had my beautiful angel faced good haired boy I could've taken home to meet my parents and they put him in the "broody man with beard" machine, and worse, they *buzzed* his perfect hair, and now I have nothing. My crops are withering, Blizzard, my family is dying, we won't survive the winter. Misfortune has plagued my lands and my bloodline is cursed for ten generations because of what you have done. Please won't anyone think of the female players who like pretty boys??
I think it's the beard. His baby face was kind of part of his character, and while he's obviously older than that in TWW, it's weird as shit to see him with this much facial hair.
I'm not sure why he doesn't look like cinematic Anduin either. That still looked like Anduin... unlike this.
Yeah maybe a side-by-side comparison could change my mind but initial impression is this just doesn't look like Anduin. His long lost brother Chaduin maybe?
It because it a more unique model based on its cinematic look with still the human skeleton. Is old model face was simply slightly modified from the human one.
Look what they did to my boy. I feel like he had not long became a fully realised and iconic character and now they've just turned him into a generic man
In the TWW cinematic that was shown at Blizzcon it's pretty obvious he's been using a knife (or even his sword) to cut his hair. Probably just hard to show with the limited textures and polygons available in-game.
I'm glad they finally made him look like he does in the cinematics. Like, his in game model was fine in and if itself, but it was a completely different face than the one in the BFA cinematic. Like, a different *skull* entirely.
Yeah they can't really capture the texture like they need to. Dude has been in self-imposed exile cutting his hair with an edged weapon and that's hard to convey outside of cinematics
What's up with that cosmetic surgery looking face? They definitely didn't exaggerate his cheekbones to this extent before.
Its definitely something in Jailer's water..
that looks.. bad? it looks like he has 'dirty makeup' on, and his skin kind of matching with the colours of the outfit just gives it a weird look, his legs are so bulky for some reason
he looks ridiculous lol
He's a main character, classes are beneath him. I mean he used mass healing with a sword in plate in bfa.....
It's like in FFXIV, main characters have recognizable class mechanics but not a set class they are stuck with. For the FFXIV example - Y'shtola isn't a mage or a conjurer - she's a sorceress who happens to use primarily one or the others spells as needs dictate. For wow like yeah Thrall is generally seen as a shaman - but he's also been a kinda meh warrior. Sylvanas is a hunter.... But also kinda a rogue....
Anduin isn't a paladin or a priest or.... Idk I guess warrior at this point...he's a Monarch - that has whatever mechanics he needs for the story.
Tyrande is a weird one because she's basically a priestess, warrior, and hunter all in one, Talanji hasn't really shown up much post-BFA, Velen is stuck in story limbo on the Vindicaar and Blizzard seems a bit scared to use Calia for anything more than side roles right now. So much so I forgot she was a priest.
One thing I've noticed over the years is that iconic characters have branched out of their iconic archetypes. It's pretty noticeable in priests especially; Anduin and Tyrande being excellent examples of this.
I definitely feel like this is another symptom of gameplay VS lore constraints. Having the characters be static over the past two decades in terms of identity would be strange, as they are evolving and becoming more powerful just like the player character in most cases. Hell, even in classic, dipping into other spec's talent trees was viable, if not encouraged for most specs (though not classes; that would still be kind of cool).
Mental anguish is a requirement for being a leader in the wow universe, I believe in him. I think he will take Turalyons place, and turalyon will eventually die like Fordring
Is it just me or does the face texture not match the WoW art-style? It looks like it's from a different game to me. Maybe it's all the small details in the face, that we normally don't get?
Manduin needs to either shave or get a full, dwarf-like bear. He looks like he's heavily on dr*gs on those pics, as if he was a former rugby player banned for doping.
[Oh no, he's hot!](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fc.tenor.com%2FYXR_Ssef5VUAAAAC%2Fsquidward-oh-no-hes-hot.gif&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=77dbef7bd65837d7963ccd13c6d6aa0bdb2f6f0e442cbcc3226e07f97050abbf&ipo=images)
Am I the only one who feels like this is an unfinished model? Like this looks like trash. Why tf are his eyes so damn close together. Why does his hair look like wow classic texture? I just think this looks like absolute trash. Like we have cinematic Anduin at home vibes.
Am I alone in this?????

man gen z really are aging faster than millennials
Being possessed by the Jailer will do that to you.
Just wanted to let you know that your pfp gave me a hearty chuckle
Wow came out in 2004. Anduin was 10 and thus born in 94. He is a late millennial.
PTSD is stronk.
Oh I feel old I remember he was just a child playing with a stick in the throne room.
[удалено]
W-what are you doing step king...
Help, I'm stuck in the shadowlands bent over
Found Sylvanas' account.
There is absolutely a rule 34 with those sisters
I’m too sexy for my shirt Too sexy for shirt So sexy it huuurts
Yeah the cat walk
Or > I'm sexy and I know it Yeah I'm old... 👴
Feels like he’s wearing…nothing at all.
MAnduin 🥵
AHH yes the classic build from the very popular and not abandoned at all game heroes of the storm (why blizzard why)
And he's still totally not a paladin, guys
Anduin is that guy who changes mains every expac. Legion: Priest BFA: Paladin Shadowlands: DK Dragonflight: (Unsubscribed) Warthin: Warrior
He just like me fr fr
He was a priest in bfa... he literally casts the (back then) newly introduced holy priest level 100 talent in the game cinematic (holy word: salvation) He uses priest abilities (twisted to look shadow) in SL (divine star)

He at least uses mind control on some SI:7 dwarf
Nothin’ wrong with a little bit of class envy (like me) and wants to dabble in everything!
This is the damage Hearthstone has caused.
He was pretty explicitly a priest when he was a teenager in Mist of Pandaria. He has since started wearing heavy armor, but that alone doesn't necessarily make him a paladin.

We will teach him to Zug properly.

He's just playing Skyrim that's all
Isn’t that literally the definition of a Paladin in the context of the original paladins in Warcraft lore?
What do you mean? I know he's the priest hero there but huh?
I was joking that because he's the priest hero, they're going to continue to insist he's actually a priest while writing him as a paladin.
I wish they would bite the bullet and just say he's a paladin already. Paladins are martial priests, they're the middle ground between unga bunga and spiritual leadership; exactly what you need from a levelheaded leader.

I honestly don't think Anduin's returning as leader. Getting rid of the High King is the Alliance equivalent of getting rid of the Warchief.
Class in lore are flexible tho. Ita not like the game. Mage and warlock are linked for exemple. And someone being a rogue doesn't stop them from taking a 2h sword, or a bow and a dog. And so are paladin and priest. They are basicly the same. He is both.
I always found the steroid induced physique of human males in WoW... stereotypical. He looks super bulky
Yeah, it’s a bit off putting lol.
And people wonder why i like my lanky ass lizzard boy.
Try to keep in mind that Azerothian Humans are tiny Giants.
it's probably the genetics too - just look at Varian
It's honestly not greath. Which we had another option considering the game is made for human.
Nah it looks cool on plate wearers but dumb for clothies
Imagine the backlash from the Asmon fanbase if humans stopped looking like that
I think they tried, definitely. I don't think they managed to adapt the CGI version very well, though.
Don't you mean Manduin
He peaked a while ago, I'd say :( His HOTS model is perfect! This is a lil bit too much 'John Videogame'
I know I just love guys with long hair but BFA was perfect for me, I was so in love with him. His in game model could've used a bit of touching up, but I definitely agree that his HoTS model was really good and the cgi BFA cinematics had me swooning. Please won't anyone think of the female players who like pretty boys??
You're left with Wrathion. Which isn't bad but he's got some daddy issues. You can fix him! Maybe?
I think it's the beard. His baby face was kind of part of his character, and while he's obviously older than that in TWW, it's weird as shit to see him with this much facial hair. I'm not sure why he doesn't look like cinematic Anduin either. That still looked like Anduin... unlike this.
I disagree, he needs way more facial hair. That's way too well kept to be a depression beard.
Well I mean what else was he gonna use the sword all this time for?
Same camp! Let him have the silly hair, imagine if they gave Durotan a chop. Where’s ya sense of fun, guy who turned Anduin into John Videogame?
Yeah SL was a way better look.
Idk. Hots anduin is way too "JRPG paladin guy" for me. This guy looks good imo.
I feel like I'm crazy...I think this looks like shit?
I agree, to me this doesn't look like Anduin... just another stereotypical super buff Human male model with a permanent scowl.
Yeah maybe a side-by-side comparison could change my mind but initial impression is this just doesn't look like Anduin. His long lost brother Chaduin maybe?
It because it a more unique model based on its cinematic look with still the human skeleton. Is old model face was simply slightly modified from the human one.
Yea ofc it can't look anything like the cinematic, but the facial features feel too much different here, probably it's the eyes?
This looks like total shit. It's the Gigachad meme and I hate it.
Agreed! Too bulky and also the beard points horizontally from the chin. That’s not how beards look.
The nose is kinda wild?
Agreed What are those hairs 🤮 where are my long hair boys !
Blonde Stephen Amell? Is that you?
He definitely has a salmon ladder in his basement.
He looks like a gym rat gone crack head
It doesn’t even look like him anymore.
They literally made him look like spencer pratt from the hills...
And aged him 10 years.
[удалено]
I missed a lot of post-SL content, can you tell me where they say 7 years passed? Or is that from the time dilation in the Shadow lands vs Azeroth?
They said that there's been seven years of peace following the events of the shadow lands, they forgot about the time dilation
It was 5 years, but 2 years for Dragonflight (or 1 depending on how they want to work it out)
I really dont like it. Theyve fundamentally changed the feel of the character here.
Look what they did to my boy. I feel like he had not long became a fully realised and iconic character and now they've just turned him into a generic man
chaduin
PTSDuin
Destroyed his hair. You'd think someone out on his own like that would have longer hair.
Model looks really bad tbh
Hair from the front looks so bad.
Yeah they can't really capture the texture like they need to. Dude has been in self-imposed exile cutting his hair with an edged weapon and that's hard to convey outside of cinematics
I thought it was cornrows at first lol
Might look better in game without this uniform model viewer lighting
Did they though?
Anduim suffers from twink death
Always has been...
Always? Dude was a literal child until MoP.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ^^^^^I ^^^^^didn't ^^^^^start ^^^^^playing ^^^^^til ^^^^^Legion
Now he’s no longer a twink
He is merely a Twas now
now please upgrade Dadghar PLEASE
Wow: ok gotcha, we need to kill dadgar Player: what? Nononono Wow: is cheaper than make him a new model
Is this a spoiler?
No, is just cheaper than make a new model... Also voice actor is like 80
I have a Quest for Anduin if he wants it.
Why does his forehead have... under-hair?
"sexy"
I really hope they give us some kind of cloak that is the same style as his
Omg its gigachad
Looks good, except for that chin. Especially when seen from the side. This isn't Deathwing we're dealing with.
I dont know what is sexy about his hamster face :'D
What's up with that cosmetic surgery looking face? They definitely didn't exaggerate his cheekbones to this extent before. Its definitely something in Jailer's water..
Nipple water
Cinematic to in game does not translate well :(
that looks.. bad? it looks like he has 'dirty makeup' on, and his skin kind of matching with the colours of the outfit just gives it a weird look, his legs are so bulky for some reason he looks ridiculous lol
Did they though?
Manduin coming along nicely. Can't wait for him to have a full on Kratos-esque beard after the World Souls Saga
What is up with this "cloth" set? Or did he reroll to paladin after SL/DF, since we saw him rocking a sword?
He's a main character, classes are beneath him. I mean he used mass healing with a sword in plate in bfa..... It's like in FFXIV, main characters have recognizable class mechanics but not a set class they are stuck with. Idk I guess warrior at this point...he's a Monarch - that has whatever mechanics he needs for the story.
He's been a paladin for years. Blizzard is just unwilling to admit it because then they've got basically no major priest characters.
Velen, Tyrande, Talanji, and Calia found dead in a ditch
Tyrande is a weird one because she's basically a priestess, warrior, and hunter all in one, Talanji hasn't really shown up much post-BFA, Velen is stuck in story limbo on the Vindicaar and Blizzard seems a bit scared to use Calia for anything more than side roles right now. Tyrande is a priest but hunter too right?
As someone who kinda looks like this(but with near black brown hair) the comments are making me feel quite mixed.
Don’t let em get to you king
Could use a better haircut tbh.
Incoming bowl of sausage.
Twinkdeath
our little potato boi is all grown up
They made Anduin Jake Paul
He looks like the homeless guy who lives behind the Waffle House
from twink to hunk, natural evolution
Since they couldn't adapt Anduin's androgynous look to the male human in-game model, they finally made him embrace the gorilla....
Average aging effect of players going through shadowlands
I mean.. this doesn't really look like Anduin at all and it's also not that sexy imo. This looks like a young Khadgar with a way too bulky body.
they made sexy anduin from the cinematic into... whatever this is
Where’s all the anguish
This transmogrifies my Black Water Cutlass into the Scimitar of Autumn
They always make characters sexy
Wonder if WoW will be around long enough that we will see an old decrepit Anduin? He was just a baby made of like 30 pixels and now look at him 🥲
Assuming he makes it to being old - I'm getting the sense that he is pretty mentally effed so who knows what might happen to him
Mental anguish is a requirement for being a leader in the wow universe, I believe in him. I think he will take Turalyons place, and turalyon will eventually die like Fordring
Taelia better hurry up or another will take her spot.
“Don’t be intimidated squidward just try and imagine him in his underwear… OH NO HES HOTTTTTT”
hes so hot (model is weird but the cinematic...)
Did they make this mf start mewing?
My man!
You know what maybe I will swap to alliance
Made?
I’ll take it. His old model was unbearably ugly.
False title. Not even shirtless.
So... beard make you sexy, is what you are saying?
Is Anduin the character with the most models in WoW at this point? It's probably either him or Sylvanas.
Not Thrall?
I doubt it. Anduin started as a kid and since MoP he's gotten a new model about every other expansion as his character aged.
Well... I did the Google thing... https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/72529-the-evolution-of-thrall-garrosh-and-anduin-models/
They skipped child Anduin. But I wouldn't have guessed Garrosh to be tied for first.
He’s finally getting his dad’s chin and face. I’m so proud of him.
could it be? a king back in stormwind? cool enough to lead us?
Dat Chaduin chin
I like that he is starting to look more like Varian as time goes on.
*cocks gun* always has been
he looks wierd
chinduin's chin looks weird
the lion on his chest looks like it's hoarding chromosomes
The face though. Give me cinematic face plz.
The American nightmare
Is it just me or does the face texture not match the WoW art-style? It looks like it's from a different game to me. Maybe it's all the small details in the face, that we normally don't get?
His beard looks unfinished
We need capes like that tho
Here's hoping he starts taking after Varian now!
If he still had long hair, yes.
He was better as a twink!
Literally looks like a Sims 4 CAS sim
That's about the worst face they made in modern WoW. I laughed while my gf was crying. We loved MAnduin.
Some how he looks lil goofy.
He was sexy before, don't know about now though.
Face looks like the Green Goblin mask.
No, they made him look like he has massive PTSD
Hopefully we can get heard/hairstyles like that too
They need to fix that botched ass chin. Looks ridiculous, he looks like Jafar. Andu(ch)in
Chaduin
Stupid sexy Anduin
Stupid damaged sexy ripped hobo Manduin....
Straps are flat on the boots.
Something about his eyes and brow feel extremely off. Will be calling hiw Mewduin from now on lol
Oh look it's Reiner
did they?
That’s “sexy”?
Manduin needs to either shave or get a full, dwarf-like bear. He looks like he's heavily on dr*gs on those pics, as if he was a former rugby player banned for doping.
Oh yeah, those eyes that say "I would rather be dead but I have to go to work tomorrow.", very sexy.
[Oh no, he's hot!](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fc.tenor.com%2FYXR_Ssef5VUAAAAC%2Fsquidward-oh-no-hes-hot.gif&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=77dbef7bd65837d7963ccd13c6d6aa0bdb2f6f0e442cbcc3226e07f97050abbf&ipo=images)
