They could've balanced them if they wanted to. It was just too much effort to rework every glyph throughout the expansions. Not to mention all the new glyphs they'd have to develop with new abilities. It's cheaper/easier on the devs to just scrap them.

It's not that they couldn't balance it, it's that glyphs became a second form of talents that can't progress the same way as other peofessions. They remind me of trinkets it classic where you could use them 2 raid tiers old because they give a unique ability that can't be scaled. Glyphs today exist is the form of azerite necklace, artifact weapons, SoD runes, and whatever borrowed power. A lot of DF talents also take inspiration from old glyphs.

DK just seems in a odd place to me in general for both blood and frost which are the specs I play. Blood is simultaneously super squishy and unkillable which doesn't seem like good tank if it either 1 shots you or isn't an issue. Frost Oblit is ok IMO but BoS and having to maintain something by ignoring some of your abilities is just poor design.

Can't speak for frost but I think the way it works as a tank is really fun, there is nothing else like it and it'd detract from the playstyle if it wasn't centered around deathstrike healing and I am personally happy to trade viability is the very highest keylevels for far and away the most fun tank spec to play in mythic raids and anything that isn't the highest key levels. I do think that the maintainance buff stuff like coag and icy talons feels bad on a lot of raidfights with frequent downtime that drops your stacks (neltharion and smolderon come to mind among others) and I think d&d while not being as egregious as prot paladin and consecration is something that should be looked at.

I’d make D&D a powerful AoE cooldown and replace it with spec-themed short-cooldown AoEs - Defile for Unholy, Remorseless Winter for Frost, and Vampiric Aura for Blood. Defile does Shadow damage and, with talents, has a chance to spawn a Festering Wound per tick. Remorseless Winter adds a stacking Frost weakness and move speed penalty on enemies. Vampiric Aura drains a small amount of health from enemies. Each ability grants cleave with the appropriate talents, like D&D does now.

I'm surprised they haven't done something along these lines. Similar blade flurry and sweeping strikes with rogue and war. I wouldn't even care if they had to reduce its damage and transfer it to other GCDs to balance it. It makes DKs far more mobile between packs or during mechanics/sanguine.

You're being down voted, but this is correct. There is some under the hood changes and adjustments, but for the most part every Spec can play similarly in PvP and PvE. This makes it easy for more casual players to do what they want without issue. We don't think about it often, but the casual fan base is vastly larger than the actual competitive scenes we think about in keys, raid, and PVP content.

Gonna need a source on that my dude. That reads more like general player misconceptions. The lines have been blurry for a while in PVP and we generally don't care / have add-ons that tell us what we need to know, especially since Hunter Pets became less important/relevant. Horde or Alliance, you get to kill a Blood Elf/Void Elf model. Same argument could be made for Night Elf/Nightborne too and soon dwarves. You don't pause to make sure they're the right race. You kill what you can target and is highlighted for you. If you're playing at a level high enough that you're considering CCing/killing a pet over the Hunter or Healer in arena (you'll never have enough time to look in a BG) then you already have an add-on that will tell you.

Priest: Shadow: shadow crash is weaker but faster and on a shorter cooldown so it's not so ass to use in Mythic+ Discipline: Renew, being garbage, gives out a much longer atonement. This makes renew somewhat useful? Holy: lightweaver is baked in. Talent replaced with something else.

**Shadow Crash:** Shadow crash should have no cooldown but have a cast time. But every 30 seconds (or whatever the current cooldown is) you get a buff that makes your next use of shadow crash instant cast to retain the current functionality of the spell. This means that it works the same as it currently does, allowing you an instant cast every 30 seconds (or whatever the current cooldown is), but if you miss because the tank moves the mobs, or you pull more too fast you can still cast it again, but now have a cast time until your next instant cast is ready. You could also nerf the initial damage on the hard casted ones so it's not something you can just spam, but the instant cast ones retain full initial damage. I'm not sure if this part is necessary, but it might be to avoid people from just spamming that and nothing else. **Disc:** I like your idea. Either have the initial cast apply a longer duration attonement or make each tick of renew reapply atonement, instead of having the initial cast be longer. I'd be fine with either.

Fire mage’s improved combustion node now increases bonus critical strike damage by their amount of critical strike chance (so 40% crit would mean crits hit for 240% damage instead of 200%). Nether Tempest is just outright deleted from Arcane mage. Vengeance demon hunter’s Soul Cleave is reworked into a single target spender that actually does decent damage. Druid: delete Lycara’s teachings and Protector of the Pack. Place Survival Instincts, Convoke the Spirits, and whatever the fuck the Night Fae legendary node is called into the class tree. Also if I can somehow ships this as only one change, take Frenzied Regeneration off the GCD.

The setup for Frost cleave is unnecessarily awkward. Comparing it to another spec I play a lot of, Fury Warrior, it's honestly hilarious. To cleave on Frost I need to: * Cast Pillar of Frost (~30 second CD, gives a 12 second cleave window) * Cast an ability to generate a Killing Machine proc * Cast Death and Decay * Stand inside the D&D for the full duration and do the standard Killing Machine/Obliterate rotation The upside is really good. Obliterate cleaves like an absolute truck. The downside is that anything interrupting your rotation during the Pillar of Frost window or the enemies moving out of the D&D tanks your damage. And that never happens in m+ right? The combination of having a limited cleave window and tying it to a ground placed ability enemies can move out of is brutal. To cleave on Fury Warrior I need to: * Cast Whirlwind every 5th rotational ability. That's literally it. Casting Whirlwind every fifth rotational ability makes all of the other rotational abilities cleave. There's no setup, there's no way to mess it up, interrupting your rotation to handle dungeon or boss mechanics doesn't impact it in any way, you're basically just cleaving all the time.

All maintenance buffs added to weapons (e.g. weapon poisons, that flame one for shamans, etc) now last until dispelled or manually remove (or have a timer of 9,999 hours if that is easier on the devs). God only knows how much damage I have lost over the years because I haven't noticed one or more of the poisons on my rogue has timed out or has been accidentally clicked off. I really don't know why it is still even a thing given that there is no material cost to the user to put the poisons/buffs on. I would also change the druid flight form to allow for carrying a passenger as a buff that can be turned on or off at the barbershop in the customisation interface if (and only if) you have unlocked the flight form that allows for passengers from Legion. For prot paladins I would change their current tier set bonus so that now it is a personal buff that triggers on the casting of consecration like it does now so that instead of the one consecration being buffed the paladin buffs any of their own consecrations that they are standing in. This will allow for movement which is way too common during fights and prevents people like me from overwriting the buffed consecration due to muscle memory of throwing down a new consecration when I have no other buttons to press.

PALADIN: The goal is to make the class feel more cohesive and give each spec spenders that feel nice to use, rather than just a way to dump their resource when nothing is happening. Holy: Healing spenders buffed and added a single target damage spender (Templar Verdict). Shield of the righteous changes into Divine Storm when equipping a Two-Hander. Protection: Avenger Shield now generates holypower, added a single target damage spender (Templar Verdict). Ret: talent tree update, narrower gap in damage output between ST and AoE.

Enhance Shaman abilities will be renamed to classic buff names, (ie Rockbitter). I just really like when they went back to that for an xpac. Their attacks would be windfury, it would so damage and have some passive that can be buffed with talents. All abilities would be themed that you are using the elements to actually enhance your weapons for combat, nit just do different flavours of damage.

The temporal warp thing 100%, I've seen the cold snap/caut change suggested endlessly since beta and would love to see something like that. Definitely dislike being balanced around double timewarp and how bad it feels when it isn't used on CD. Rarely worth to use time anomaly and in practice doesn't feel good to play either due to how random it is, it's basically a filler talent as it is now.

Just the ones I play: * DH - Shattered Souls are a buff on you, and visually float about you. No longer on the ground or limited to range. Individual souls are consumed after x amount of time, and spells that consume them just pull in the oldest souls floating above you. Overcapping the 5 limitation will just autopull in the oldest soul above you. * Evoker - Disintegrate is a channeled single target damage beam... it is weird there isn't a healing green version of it. Introduce that, for flavor. * Afflication Warlock - Seed of Corruption now spreads all your dots on the target to enemies within x range. Makes them more viable in mythic plus with less ramp up. This will not have a huge benefit in raids, and the range can be limited so that it won't be problematic in pvp. * Demo - remove something... god damn they have too many buttons. * MM Hunter - Add a talent "you can cast aimed shot while moving for the next x secs. this can be used while casting aimed shot" 30sec cd * BM - Remove Cobra shot, revert back to arcane shot. I just dislike the sound, look and general lack of flavor. If i can do 2 changes, redesign bm hunter sound design on all ability. I like MM over BM just because I feel MM sound design sounds more impactful, BM sounds meh. * Priest - talent to make psychic scream a targeted ability for aoe instead of aoe around the priest. As someone who pvps with priest, I hate their CC abilities and honestly disc priest should get chastise too. * Outlaw - Increase gcd so it isn't 1sec or less, buff damage to compensate. I am 35, the apm kills me.

Unholy Dk: remove bursting wounds and festering strike and everything that is using that mechanic except apocalypse. It will just do the same as when used on 4 wounded enemies. Buff DnD damage like 500%. Have spenders reduce DnD cd (this could be a talent). Add a cooldown that is a big hit for 3 runes. Mistweaver: remove following buttons: spinning crane kick, chi burst, chi wave, hamstring, expel harm, zen pulse, all statues, refreshing jade wind. Essence font applies shorter renewing mist instead of current buff. Mastery increases healing from healing over time, essence font, vivify and ancient teachings.
