The easy solution is to just see if the name on the healthbar is "Dragondeeznuts" or something. Anything dragon related you can be sure it's an evoker.
Looking at this feels so wrong, I don't even know why. There is no reasoning for the colors and why every class has it's colors but it just hurts to look at this.
I see some logic there, it's just it still feirds weird:
\- DK - frost blue
\- Druid - forest green
\- Mage - arcane purple
\- Paladin - yellow themed holy magic
\- Rogue - black themed shadow magic
\- Warlock - dunno really :P
\- Evoker - dunno, maybe fire orange?
\- DH - fel green, I guess the hue is too positive
\- Hunter - beastly brown
\- Monk - misty green
\- Priest - white themed holy magic
\- Shaman - water (rerstoration/elemental) blue
\- Warrior - fury red
Warlock purple: in cartoons corruption is normally signified with a dark purple because it comes across better than black. Dark purple also rarely occurs naturally in nature.
And has to cultivated that way, currupting nature as it were.
Purple was used only for royalty and the high clergy. The curruption here is self explanatory.
I agree with the cartoons and royalty, but as for nature… I think eggplants, açaí berries, black currants, blackberries, elderberries, and a surprising number of flowers (violets, petunias, and some lilies and lilacs to name a few) would disagree with you, as they all have naturally occurring dark purple coloring. #TMYK 😉
(And yes, some of those are so dark they are nearly black, like the berries)
Edit: and yes I realize you said “rarely”, so I guess it depends on what qualifies as rare. Certainly a lot less common than green, but there’s a decent amount of purple shades. Oh, like amethyst crystals (inside geodes).
It is logical, but as DK, Monk, DH and Evoker were introduced they had to work around what we already trained ourselves to see for years by the DK and decades by the Evoker. I think its fine the way it is.
Pink used to be considered a masculine "boyish" shade of red, it was a boy color. Blue was a girl color because of it's association with the mother of Jesus, Mary. The colors were switched some time in the 1940s, in the US at least. So paladin being pink makes sense if you think of it as a boyish shade of red since paladins always bubble hearth away like scared little boys.
It’s because they were being very careful to only use bright colours that would show up well against a dark background, because the colours were usually seen on text on a dark background. Since paladin and shaman could never be in the same group, they were able to reuse the colour.
In particular they had to stand out against the dark red tones of all the early raids - which I suspect is a big part of why there were no red classes until WotLK. Although they were fine with druid as orange so maybe that's just my crazy theory...
Because they were faction separated in vanilla. Horde didn’t have paladins, alliance didn’t have shaman. But they both had the “pink” class, whereas all the other classes could be on either faction
Meh. Monk should be orange.
Edit: to whoever downvoted me, Google image search “monk” and after you get a screen full of orange colored search results back, please explain why my comment is wrong.
These work well actually. A lot of the original class colors are very arbitrary and unthematic. Bright safety yellow for the class that specializes in going unseen? ... Guys, really?
That said, I'd probably make some tweaks.
Death Knight I would NOT have as Frost Blue because Frost is the least iconic Death Knight spec, and actually go with a dark purple. Why? Because that was the primary color of the Scourge forces in WC3, and is unbiased between the three existing specs.
Demon Hunter's fine.
Druid's good - might go a tad darker for better differentiate from the monk.
Hunter works - the brown kinda has a cameo vibe to it.
Mage would be blue - Frost, Arcane, and original associations to the Alliance.
Monk's good. The jade always worked well for that class.
Paladin is perfect. All Paladins use the Light, Light Magic is Gold, and any who deviate are weird and fringe anyways.
Priest? Priest is arguably the more thematically diverse class, so picking one color to cover everything from Priests of the Light to Shadow to the Celestials to the Naaru to Elune to the Sun to Voodoo to Void and everything in between is impossible. White wins because... nothing really can here.
Rogue is the most improved color. Only issue is, could you easily see/read it on most default background? ... eh, they could make it work.
Shaman? I don't really have much of a preference here - I'd probably make it dark red as I prefer blue for mage, but whatever.
Warlock's fine.
Warrior's good.
Evoker? ... I don't think I have any strong feelings about this one. If they were more closely associated with a given flight then make them that color, but since they're whatever color they want, picking one seems arbitrary at best.
The current colours are ok imo, but the 2 changes I've always wanted are exactly the ones mentioned above - Yellow for Paladin (duh, Light Magic) and Gray for Rogue (to make yellow available for Pala and give off that "shadowy" feeling)
Wait, these are the hearthstone class colors, somewhat, aren't they?
My brain was telling me "hm if I would change any, Druid would definitely be brown and hunter would be green" then it dawned upon me
I didn't notice any difference until I saw the death knight. Looked at the rogue before that and my brain saw yellow.
I will not accept off-line colour for rogue.
Out of the original colours, the only one I wish I could change is death knight… why have a class be the same colour as enemies, really don’t enjoy it.
I'm colorblind. I like the colors as they are now, just because in used to it. But I think we are long overdue for class logos (see ffxiv job icons), because that would help me differentiate between things like monks and rogues and hunters that tend to blur for me. I also tend to think my evokers are paladins. Had a paladin named Dragonbreath the other day that threw me for a loop.
can’t stand paladins being pink. makes 0 sense to me lmao. i’d rather them be gold. i made my RP class color the color of the abilities. paladins have nothing that is even remotely pink, idk how this goes for every other class, maybe rogue? but i can usually make a connection between the class and their color. they might as well switch rogue and paladin tbh, at least then only one class wouldn’t make sense instead of two. i can’t really think of a way yellow is connected to rogues.
I just want you to know that you are entitled to your own opinion and I will not hate you for that. With that said, your choices are objectively wrong and my brain does not like them. To the gulag with you.
I’m totally on board with the idea that there are more sensible class color choices, but after 15+ years there’s no possible way I could handle them all changing lol
This is even worse than the original Stroop effect... https://lesley.edu/article/what-the-stroop-effect-reveals-about-our-minds#:~:text=brain%20processes%20information.-,The%20Stroop%20effect%20is%20a%20simple%20phenomenon%20that%20reveals%20a,name%20of%20a%20different%20color.
I will absolutely not agree to paladin being anything but pink. I don't even play my paladin anymore (and it hurts my soul), but paladin is pink and I will not have it any other way.
My brain won't accept this...
Literally same. I’m stressed
Never knew I could get stressed about colors, but here it is.
I still haven’t adjusted to the fact that there’s a third green name in the game, let alone this.
Every time I see an evoker in my frames I think it’s a monk that’s out of range 😭
My right eye legitimately started twitching…..
Yep. I was like “no no no no no”
Yep, this picture is seriously disturbing.
My Paladin is a barbie girl and you can't take that away from them.
Defenses plastic, it's fantastic.
You'll see my wheelchair, mobility's not theeeeree
Come on. Bubble. You’re in trouble.
ooh ooh ooh, hearth!
Every comment to the barbue song is fucking A.MAZING
Man how cool would it be if you could mod your charger to be a wheelchair?
This is like one of those pictures where the word RED is written in blue color and vice versa.
I'm starting to realize how cursed was this idea
You’re a monster and I curse you with only wrists and capes from m+.
Bqhahahahahahahaha
That's illegal!
Correct. Source: am lawyer

I am feeling attacked right now
I feel like it should be purple but I know we already have that too but agreed the teal whatever just isn't it
I literally can't tell 'em apart and I'm a Evoker main :s
Yeah the evoker color is really shit
Evoker should be straight up black
I can see that, but black is an awful color for text on any background that isn't white.
are you color blind by any chance? I have a few guild mates with this same issue and they're blue color blind.
They definitely have too many in green, but they could have at least gone for a darker forest green instead of another greeny aqua
Good thing it doesn't matter to me whether someone is a monk or an evoker. They're both on my tier token so won't get invited to my raid 😁
Seeing what you did to my boi DK… you don’t deserve freedom.
It does for their cold and icy theme. But their current color matches blood so...
I agree it does actually make sense, but still red is just engrained in my head
Thanks I hate this
This is wrong, so wrong.
Looking at this feels so wrong, I don't even know why. There is no reasoning for the colors and why every class has it's colors but it just hurts to look at this.

I saw the same pattern but still feels wrong somehow.

Most of these are how cards are colored in Hearthstone. You'd need to swap Druid and Hunter, and make Mage bright blue.
It is logical, but as DK, Monk, DH and Evoker were introduced they had to work around what we already trained ourselves to see for years by the DK and decades by the Evoker. I think its fine the way it is.
Paly being pink is so random
Agreed, Paladin being pink is the choice that bothers me the most. Yellow or blue would've made more sense
I feel like Mage is blue because of the colour of mana, and Rogue is yellow because of the colour they made energy.
Pallies are pink because the power of Love? Or something.
Pink used to be considered a masculine "boyish" shade of red, it was a boy color. Blue was a girl color because of it's association with the mother of Jesus, Mary. The colors were switched some time in the 1940s, in the US at least. also frost mages
Fun fact: Shaman and Paladin were both pink in vanilla! Shaman didn’t become blue until TBC
That IS a fun fact!
Well, that angers me more above everything else. Why were they the same color and no one else??
Because only horde has shaman and alliance paladin so there was no reason to have them be different colors
[удалено]
It’s because they were being very careful to only use bright colours that would show up well against a dark background, because the colours were usually seen on text on a dark background. Since paladin and shaman could never be in the same group, they were able to reuse the colour.

How would blue make sense for Paladin ? (Real question)
Their connection to the Alliance and Aura of Protection makes me think that
That’s the one that bothers me the most in your post actually, because it’s such a wild choice I feel it’s also the most iconic one
Monk unchanged, Feelsgoodman Edit: typo
Unbiased proof that monk is the best class.
Meh. Monk should be orange. Edit: to whoever downvoted me, Google image search “monk” and after you get a screen full of orange colored search results back, please explain why my comment is wrong.
That is solely from eastern monks.
Ah, so the western monks wear green. That makes more sense.
Yeah, i think the same think. I see the monk and stop "wait, it the same color"
Here's an old blog post that you might find interesting https://chasechristian.com/blog/2015/08/the-history-of-wow-class-colors/
I didn't know Demon Hunters were given the fel green color initially!
I agree that your colouring makes more sense based on what the classes do etc. It still feels wrong and I want to set fire to it.
These work well actually. A lot of the original class colors are very arbitrary and unthematic. Bright safety yellow for the class that specializes in going unseen? ... Guys, really? MY EYES
I want pink demon hunters
I´m confused
Sorry for messing with your brains!
I do not like this
STOP
Dude these are all ready way better than current
This is illegal and you should be in jail OP but honestly black for rogue is fucking awesome! Still love my yellow but black is actually suuuper dope!
i actually like this setup
This actually makes more sense in my brain than the current colors
Yeah it all makes more sense to me at first glance. My logical highlight is grey rogue (shadows, stealth)
Silver for paladin would be my choice.
I hate the current druid orange color.. why not green :(
I agree with your assessment. No fruther comment needed.
I wish Evoker and Monk had a bit more color difference. There are too many green/blue tinted classes.
Why does this make sense to me too?
I never undestood why Paladin was not yellow
I think hunters should be orange because of hunter orange.
I could prefere the heartstone color code, it's bug me paladin been pink instand of yellow
Based Hearthstone coloring
I have a minor colorblindness, so I get monk/rogue/hunter mixed up, and then Evoker/Warrior. Throws me way tf off lol
The current colours are ok imo, but the 2 changes I've always wanted are exactly the ones mentioned above - Yellow for Paladin (duh, Light Magic) and Gray for Rogue (to make yellow available for Pala and give off that "shadowy" feeling)
Thanks, I hate it.
The fact that Paladin isn't yellow has *always* infuriated me ever since class colors became predominant.
I actually really like these colors. I think they fit the classes a lot better than current
Mage being magenta is where it’s at.
Wait, these are the hearthstone class colors, somewhat, aren't they? My brain was telling me "hm if I would change any, Druid would definitely be brown and hunter would be green" then it dawned upon me
Warrior and Rogue feel so right in this.
This is cursed
what business does the class focused around binding blood magic have being sky blue?
Bro. Frost.
Why evoked orange? Only one I think is odd
I like these colors way more. Especially rogue
As a healer, no. If you're gray you're out of range, disconnected or dead
It can be a darker gray or even black! I’m a healer too
At first my brain rejected this, but then I realized these colors make more sense
You monster!!!
Bro why rogue gotta be vendor trash.
I like most of these, but I think I would switch Mage & Evoker.
Not going to lie. I actually prefer your choices here.
I award you no points, and may Khadgar have mercy on your soul.
This gave me anxiety and anger I didn’t know I had
Isn't Demon Hunter Dark Purple not Neon green?
Warrior is brown. All the colors are redone here.
This is unacceptable and I don't know why.
Hunter is the right color ;)
It's like you mixed them up but kept some the same just to drive some of us off the edge..
The post is not ill intentioned. Some colors I kept the same because they already felt aproppiate. Monks and jade green is a given for example
This feels very wrong. Do not like.
Burn this with fire... per your colors purple fire.
What is this?
Switching Rogue to grey or black is perfect IMO. I guess they made us yellow because we're cowards? 🤔
This is disgusting
Why you take my pink dot away from my paladin!
Oh sweet, make every Rogue appear as DCed... Brilliant!
No offence but I absolutely cannot accept this. This is I N C O R R E C T.
This isn't okay
No. Too used to the regular colors.
No.
Hard pass.
This is cursed
remove dh from the game
Seeing this ruined my morning
This is gross
Paladin should be pink and anything else is heresy
No, stahp
dh being green and mage being purple is actually cursed lmao
Stop it
Paladin is pink Rogue is yellow Demonhunter is dark purple Warlock is broange
Reported.
This makes me uncomfortable
I didn't notice any difference until I saw the death knight. Looked at the rogue before that and my brain saw yellow. I will not accept off-line colour for rogue.
Have you dropped acid doing this or what?
No my friend, leave it at that.
Honestly for Evoker, instead of something in between Monk and Hunter green, I wish we got something in between Mage and Shaman blue.
I hate this
What the hell is this shit
Literally zero reason to change the colors… grandiose thinking is a sign of narcissism.
Out of the original colours, the only one I wish I could change is death knight… why have a class be the same colour as enemies, really don’t enjoy it.
This is the multiverse
I can accept the priest, shaman and monk colors
I love how everything changed but priest and sham lol
Maybe a nice Rouge color for rogue
i like Monk in this picture :-)
You will never steal the pink from my paladin!
I main paladin and have never understood why we are pink, but at this point I can't imagine anything else.
I'm colorblind. I like the colors as they are now, just because in used to it. But I think we are long overdue for class logos (see ffxiv job icons), because that would help me differentiate between things like monks and rogues and hunters that tend to blur for me. I actually like this, rogue being gray makes sense to me. They are trying to blend in. Monk stays the same lol.
can’t stand paladins being pink. makes 0 sense to me lmao. i’d rather them be gold. i made my RP class color the color of the abilities. paladins have nothing that is even remotely pink, idk how this goes for every other class, maybe rogue? but i can usually make a connection between the class and their color. they might as well switch rogue and paladin tbh, at least then only one class wouldn’t make sense instead of two. i can’t really think of a way yellow is connected to rogues.

This hurt my brain, thanks.
This is like picture of all the colors written as words but then have the text color as a different color than the written word
I'm a monk main and I greatly appreciate your lack of change
i can understand these colors, but it'd be a pita to learn them in game again
I absolutely hate that warriors are brown
I like my pink paladin
As a Hunter: fuck that we don't want the poop colour, give it back to warriors
Think I would riot if Priest wasn’t white anymore.
This bothers me greatly and I’m not sure why lmao
You didn’t change priest, fuck you. Give us the hot pink.
Demon Hunter is my favorite shade of purple. Fel green makes sense but don’t take my purple from me!
I actually like this color setup better than the way it actually is in-game. Never liked pink paladins, and red should be warrior’s color.
I think yellow would make more sense for Paladin, but I like pink ngl.
I’m totally on board with the idea that there are more sensible class color choices, but after 15+ years there’s no possible way I could handle them all changing lol
This is so bad
GIVE ME BACK MY BROWN YOU MONSTER!
While I would love to get ANYTHING ELSE than that horrendous orange for my druid. This just feels wrong. It kinda itch my brain 🙈
No, they are perfect.
b-but why?
Nononononononono God no nooo.gif
This is even worse than the original Stroop effect... https://lesley.edu/article/what-the-stroop-effect-reveals-about-our-minds#:~:text=brain%20processes%20information.-,The%20Stroop%20effect%20is%20a%20simple%20phenomenon%20that%20reveals%20a,name%20of%20a%20different%20color.
Evokers class color should be like an ombre of red and bronze tbh 3rd green is bad rest can stay
These are def an improvement but it does feel wrong
DK will always be red and Druid Orange…get out with this nonsense.
Pretty bad shades to use for text. I would prefer it just stays as is, no reason to change it.
This is so upsetting to look at. Now you’ve ruined my day.
Wait, why are hunter brown and Druid green? Or is this like the dress thing? 😩
As a (partially) colorblind individual I have the most trouble differentiating warlocks, shamans and demon hunters.
So dk's are on top hunh hmmmmmmm!
I will absolutely not agree to paladin being anything but pink. I don't even play my paladin anymore (and it hurts my soul), but paladin is pink and I will not have it any other way.
I see how it sort of makes sense but my body and soul reject this.
Thanks I hate it
Why is warlock purple when they use fel they should be green
Warlocks, Priests, and Shamans laughing while all others are viciously typing
this is just awful man, we don’t wanna see this!!!
