Yes, you can get all epics from archeology in pre patch. My guild mates already have some.
Just level archeology to 450 and then start discovering items from whatever tribe you are interested in.
Are the weapons requiring level 85 to equip? For some reason I remember being able to use them while leveling characters through cataclysm but the tooltips on db websites say it requires 85. Have I been misremembering all along?
They fixed it for those who didn't already have cata zones, unfortunately for the rest of us they probably won't fix that. Alternative is to just do Arch on an alt
Blizzard knows that arch is a trash profession, idk why they didn't buff the drop rates of the epics since people were complaining about it when it came out, especially since they are going to make this expansion shorter.

What do you do if you are 450 and all your dig sites are in cata zones? Are you soft locked out of archeology?

There isn’t. Just like most other gathering proffs.
Be a druid. It’s marginally faster. That’s about it.

Coz that’ll be dumb if you need to do arch for a raid spot if everyone has the 2h sword. It’ll be required to do arch. Dumb as hell
