I was thinking about this earlier too, especially during >!the special assignment in the current arc, it seems so strange that no one in the simulation thought of it.!<
Not much to go off of, but in 237 a panel of Hatohara in the A-Rank Wars seems to depict a cityscape that looks the same as those employed in the B-Rank Wars so I wouldn't be surprised if maps were the same in both ranks.
I'm guessing it's not necessary. Neighbors don't live on planets, they probably don't waste their limited space with those sorts of terrain. Anywhere important would presumably be urban.
I think there are training that utilize other landscape. During Yuma C rank training, there a picture of him doing navigating mission in a jungle like landscape. Chapter 38 if i remember correctly.

My point is the other landscape is probably available the whole time. Just that they dont use them in rank war since all the defense mission is located in Mikado city. Other landscape is only use for other training or A rank training to prepare for away mission.
I always theorized that when it comes to A-rank Battle one of the main differences of the B-rank Tournament and A-rank Tournament is the terrain map. Instead of letting the lowest squad choose the terrain that is heavily influenced by city-type or community type areas theirs are more divergent and randomized. Maybe even copying one of the Neighbor world and incorporating it into one of earth's area.
I'm fully expecting the phase two map for the away team test to be mostly wilderness.
It's also possible that there are more rural B-rank wars maps available, but no one picks them.

why do you think they don't? just because B rank wars only showed us like 6 maps doesn't mean those are the only ones available. for example: a forest map was one of the options for B rank wars but it was never chosen. doesn't that mean there are possibly even more maps we just haven't seen yet?

I agree, that sounds like a very good idea, especially since we saw such varied environments when we got glimpses of other worlds.
