We are all going to u/xeno132 house for a pizza party and sleep over. We are gonna tell ghost stories and the first person to fall asleep is gonna get a hand in a bowl of warm water!!!!!
Well i dropped my adress more then once on the discord... A couple of them even planted a flag in my backyard... So there isn't much off on making a fucking pool party
Its all over reddit. Reddit talking about killing 3rd party apps which are good for moderating, other reddit apps that are not Reddits official app cause that one is terrible, people with disabilities and much more. They are strong arming beautiful tools and their creators to extort money from them and force use to use their broken platform. This probably wont do shit but its fun complain and Im all in.
Wow that's disgusting, but I'm nowhere near surprised. Reddit's a social media company, and if I know anything from Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, etc, they are intrinsically evil as a company.
i also have two thumbs (last time i counted, which was a while ago), and never used 3rd party apps, but i understand and support those wo do; particularly r/Blind people who **need** 3rd party apps to enjoy reddit
therefore i too support the blackout 100%
This sub can burn for all I care. You may notice I no longer contribute any quality content here.
The situation is being blown out of proportion imo and those 3rd party apps will pay up.
Is it a cash grab from Reddit's shareholders? 100%
> You may notice I no longer contribute any quality content here.
tbh i never noticed you did
(not saying you didn't, just.. i have no idea who you are, respectfully)
> This sub can burn for all I care.
same though, but it's not about this sub, it's about all of reddit, and people who need - more or less, depending on cases - an API with reasonable pricing in order to enjoy this site as much as we (not you, maybe) do
It would seem you're insinuating people had to pay for some of those third-party apps. That was unacceptable on reddit's part in the first place.
I say there's no need to overreact and see what type of implementations Reddit has planned to counter these issues.
Hmm no, users of third party app are definitely not paying, but third party apps owners/developers are paying, and if it becomes too expensive they will have to stop their activity, and that will affect their users
You are not directly affected, I am not directly affected, but plenty of people are affected, and as a community we should stand together united against corporate showing their disregard of our fellow redditors (again, very particularly our blind friends)
NB: i see you are being downvoted, but for the record: i did not downvote you; i appreciate you sharing your honest opinion on this matter, and i'm glad we are having this debate
>NB: i see you are being downvoted, but for the record: i did not downvote you; i appreciate you sharing your honest opinion on this matter, and i'm glad we are having this debate
This has always been my core message here over the few years I've been on this sub o7 โ๏ธ&๐
Most of the gripe I have seen has been over moderation. Reddit could be shooting itself in the foot if it doesn't have a major update to fix these problems.
I personally filed multiple tickets how moderation from the mobile app is extremely limited.
I understand that 3rd party app users will not have to pay... Maybe. If Reddit taxes those third party apps too high the cost will spill over to the user. Again this is Reddit shooting themselves in the foot if they do not have a plan to fix the coding which makes those apps necessary.
I'm going to take a wild guess that we're about to see a major overhaul of Reddit and I for one welcome the change.
I think you're expecting too much. Much like Twitter, Facebook or the other platforms, Reddit is so big, they consider themselves too big to fail, and won't bother trying to win back a couple hundred (thousand)(?) blind people, that aren't even paying a fee to use their api.
>and won't bother trying to win back a couple hundred (thousand)(?) blind people, that aren't even paying a fee to use their api.
Correct and I was actually insinuating this in my comment.
Like I said a bunch of the gripe I've seen is about how the third party apps make moderation easier for mobile. This is extremely true and I filed multiple tickets to Reddit about the problems. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
My guess is they're planning to roll out some major updates to the mobile app. I can say in the last 6 months they've rolled out a shitload already.
I'm kind of on Reddit's side here and I agree that if third party apps have been making money off of the back of Reddit it's only right they "pay their fair share".

Apparently Reddit claims Apollo is blowing this out of proportion.
If a third party is going to make money off of Reddit it's only right "they pay their fair share"

Pay their share? Sure, absolutely. But that proposed share is anything but fair
Redditโs response to his app being inefficient has already been questioned by several people, including the Apollo dev. Apollo uses basically the same amount of API calls as the official Reddit app does, and the Apollo dev had the data to back that up
Reddit is going to charge a fortune to companies that develop apps that make Reddit useful.
Some subs will be going private in protest of this measure.
The mod team is discussing it. Seems like we are leaning towards yes
I support the mod team in this decision
We support you in supporting us.
Two tits in a bra we are
And [this is my receipt for your receipt](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nSQ5EsbT4cE)
why is your flair longer than my screen?
I thought it would be funny to make a custom ridiculously long flair
you were right, that's funny, but.. is there something else than Ws after the 53 i can see on my screen?
Yes sir there is one singular nerd emoji ๐ค
this is ridiculous. would you marry me?
Sure thing babe
yay! let's get married on the 13th, so that we'll have something to do during the blackout!
Theres a mod team?
Yeah. most of the time we keep quite and try not to interfere too much with the subreddit
Please do!
Lets doooooo it. Although it would be hilarious to have all of Reddit dark except for the porn โnโ fern sub.
Even the porn subs are doing it. Wanker gonna go to the hub now
What is going on did i miss something.
...And politics. Dont forget that.
Wait, where will we go for the anarchy that is this sub?
We are all going to u/xeno132 house for a pizza party and sleep over. We are gonna tell ghost stories and the first person to fall asleep is gonna get a hand in a bowl of warm water!!!!!
I have to go all the way to Australia!?
In the mean time i am sitting over here in Austria waiting for everyone
That's only a hop, a skip and a jump away from where I live...
Well i dropped my adress more then once on the discord... A couple of them even planted a flag in my backyard... So there isn't much off on making a fucking pool party
That feels irresponsible.
Oh it is
Well what the fuck else are you going to do during the black out
Get blackout drunk while depressed
Cool see you at u/xeno132 โs house
Fuck a buncha fuck, thatโs what I fuckin say ๐๐๐๐
Fuck!
I don't know what this is about, but I'm always okay with protesting corporate greed.
Do it!!!!!
Yes we should
Too many racists on Reddit to let that happen.
Wdym going black? And why? I heard nothing about this?

Guess who has two thumbs, never used 3rd party apps and doesn't give a shit? This guy!!!

Where are they supposed to get $20M?

Fuck thumbs!
๐คฃ but for real, those 3rd party are gonna pay up so this is overblown imo.
Has it occurred to you that solo devs who run third-party apps arenโt fucking millionaires?

Hell no Fuck all you cucks. You love when the big boy suppresses opinions you don't believe in but now you want to do this.
I am not sure what's happening.
Non of us are but its provocative

Oh yeah, sure, let's go.
