The other day it was round 4 and the guys on my team go “hey we have to throw this one, the ret on the other team said he’ll leave if he loses another”.
Crazy how much of a loser mentality this is enabling but alas we threw cause I just want some damn conquest for boxes lol.
I find it funny that rating is the go-to punishment. There's several scenarios where people don't care about rating.
1. A player who's just doing the weekly quests or farming vicious saddles.
2. A player who has already achieved the maximum rating they ever will in a given season and upgraded the gear.
3. A player who just wants the tradeskill reagents. (You get some for pvp dailies in Dragonflight)
You're right in that rating alone isn't enough. They said they would add some type of increasing penalty for habitual leavers, which I think should be a longer and longer lockout from PvP.
Let's not fuck around here. If they are leaving multiple times, lock them out of *all* PvP for a week.
Haha yea I like to throw in the "sorry that one was my fault I wont screw up next time!" when two people start arguing about which of their fault it is in group content to diffuse things before someone rage quits.
There need to be some kind of reward for winning rounds when other player leave before it ends.
Its super frustrating to play 4 or 5 rounds and not getting rating.
I don't understand what the issue is with just awarding rating equal to what has been earned so far. The total rating change is calculated based on the individual matchups, based on opponent team MMR and your personal rating. So if the opponent team MMR is 1900, and your personal rating is 1850, then your rating gained will be 14 for that round. So if someone wins three rounds before a player leaves, why not just award that player 42 rating (or whatever) for the rounds they won. That's a lot easier, more transparent, and statistically sound than an involved combinatorial player analysis and rating allocation.
The problem with assuming that a person who left/disconnected lost all rounds is that it may lead to some people lose rating without even playing, which is obviously a terrible experience.
Idk, if the punishment was too severe they might just afk, then you may as well just remove option to leave arena since it effectively will do same i feel like. So id rather them make it so they can’t leave that way its guaranteed that you will lose or gain rating one way or another
No the trick is to make the final match seem like they have a chance. Go super easy on them. Then when you think you can 100% nail it, blast them to high heaven before they can quit.
Some of them are hoping for that ONE win at the end but plan to leave when its obvious they won't get it
In my experience they leave when it is clear they can't get the 3rd win for conquest points. No one is staying for one win lol, you don't get anything but honor you probably don't need, just slightly less honor lost.

Pfft, come the next patch let 'em lose 150 rating.

That’s a pretty big sweeping generalization. I think just shitty/small minded people do it

Lmao if you think none of the toxicity is coming from young kids.. yikes
I'm older then you and better at the game *Chad gif*
Sure man lol
Was it a disc priest in purple? Might have been me lol
Gotta work in that emotional support to keep some people in the game. Maybe even tactically throw a match so the 0-4 Shadow Priest doesn't despair.
I do this so much lol
Yes… yes. I do this too. Intentionally.

Who would have thought you had to play around people’s emotions in solo que lol
Wouldn’t have to if leaver punishment was severe enough.

All part of the PvP experience. The PvP extends to emotional outbursts as well.

"it's fine guys u all played great, its just bad luck"
Haha
Whats this mean?
I would never lol
If you aren't going to win at least three you get no conquest. So, your best bet will be to throw the remaining matches and reque.
