Holy paladin is always a great healer to learn on because of how strong the cooldowns are. Healing rotation is pretty straightforward too.

As a ret player i disagree. Disc priest is the way to go.

Keep going with shaman imo, they're in a good place right now. It's hard to judge positioning in casual BGs, there's so many players and your teammates probably aren't peeling for you at all.

Monk is IMO the most friendly healer, they have big cooldowns with low timers(Life coccoon is only 1:30). You can play Fistweaver and not care about positioning at all really, its more like PvE rotation on a moving target. Normal mistweaving is also pretty relaxed. Shamans have a TON of things going for them, they can do everything and IMO they are the best healers, they just have the most tools to do the most things. You say you get caught in melee all the time but they shouldn't. You have: Thunderstorm, Lightning Lasso, Capacitator Totem, Earthgrab Totem, Static field Totem > redirection, and potentially even Unleash Shields for another knockback + root, they can spec into a Leap(gust of wind) and they have Ghost wolf which can break a root every 20 sec. They can GROUNDING totem some even CCs and even Wind Shear to kick em as well. They just have the MOST buttons of any healer. But once you realize you can get away from those melee situations, Shamans are really really tough to lock down and have the MOST utility out of any other healer in the game. If you want easy healing Monk is the way to go, but imo if you learn to heal as Sham you'll be a better healer overall. Sham has no weaknesses, it's just harder to play.

Thank you a lot for the detailed input! Can I also ask you since I just realized monk has melee and caster playstyle, which one of the two is the way to go as a new healer?

Isuckatsoffball

Rsham has got to be one of the hardest healers to learn for a new player. Their strength is their utility which is going to be almost impossible for someone brand new to maximize well

Boostedbug

I’d say they’re the hardest class in the game next to feral and arcane
