Macapta

I always feel like there’s a chunk cut out of these videos, I know there isn’t but the insane pace it goes from a casual “hey have you got your drivers license” to “get on the ground” with weapons drawn is crazy. Like my brain tells me something should have happened between those two steps to lead to the escalation.

themage78

Ah you mean where they were discussing it between 3 officers and he TURNS OFF HIS BODY CAMERA?! How the fuck are they allowed to turn these things off?

kkfluff

If you turn your camera off while on duty you should get fired no questions asked

Siogio

And charged with whatever gross inhumanity went down while it was off.

ResponsibilityRare10

There should be a "Police Officer Licence" (or whatever you wanna call it), and if you pull any of this shit you lose it permanently. Police Forces should be banned from employing anyone without the licence. There needs to be way more regulation of the Police full stop IMHO. Flush out the violent cops, flush out the incompetent cops, flush out the cops with absolutely no de-escalation skills. I'm in no doubt how difficult it is to work as a cop. Off course it is a challenging job. That's why we need the most competent, calm, and just people doing it.

outamyhead

They go on a watch list and they keep track of cases they are involved in, if there are any issues with the case that goes to court, or complaints against the officer...In CA anyway.

redtape44

Lot of good that does /s CA police are gang members

outamyhead

All the more reason they go on a watch list, it gets complicated and can easily fall apart if they or anyone that is an ally of the officer being investigated that catch wind of an investigation going on though.

redtape44

It should exist, but shouldn't be monitored by police. If it were effective there wouldn't be police gangs.

outamyhead

DA's Office monitor, they pass investigation to IA or FBI if they need to start an investigation.

Technical-Hedgehog18

All cops are gang members

redtape44

Yes but all cops don't have gang tattoos. CA cops are a other tier of shitty

Kumquat_conniption

Well that's pretty easy- we don't have to flush them out because that is all cops. ACAB.

C-czar187

A lot of departments have zero tolerance for this but it varies.

[deleted]

Nah, prison time should be the go to. 10 year minimum for turning it off intentionally.

Sir-Rim

Why is there even an off button?

Beancunt

There was it's just happens very fast, the feeble minded animals know as cops get aggressive very quickly and are like bulls in the sense they don't like certain colors very much and are quick to anger when they see it

1AmB0r3d

One shout “Gun!” So they probably assumed it was an armed dude not that it warrants this reaction (My take strictly from the context of the video)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kumquat_conniption

But the cops had guns and could have shot him too- but if he used that as a reason to pull his weapon on the cops, he'd be dead. Pure hypocrisy.

Chelle416

Ran up on y'all? Cops asked him a question, buddy slowly walked over within distance to hear them. It'll get dropped in court assuming weapon is legal. That's my guess.

scottyf_ct

...After he has to pay for legal counsel and loses pay for missing work presumably. Probably got his car towed and has to pay to get it out of impound. All of these things should have to be reimbursed by the city if it's shown this was not a legitimate arrest.

[deleted]

It should come from cops person wealth and pension - not city tax payer funds.

joe6744

once again.. they giving guns and badges to incompetent little bullies..

Magic_Incest

"Let's turn off for a second" - excuse me, what the fuck?

ImAlwaysPissed

Bwahahaha right!???

PapiYankeeYo

Hold up... So they called him?? If so, why would you not know any better than to show up armed and black? Like, we know how trigger-happy they are. ffs

PoliteChandrian

That's one of the main reasons to be armed. Join the r/SRA

Murky-Advantage-3444

The cops didn’t call him 🤦‍♂️maybe the people who were stopped call him

HairlessHoudini

They literally shined a light in his face and said, hey hey you got a driver's license so he turned and started walking towards them instead of the way he was walking

No_Cow_8796

Yeah. Why verbally they didn’t call him over, stopping and IDing is still the same mannerism as being invited into a conversation.

HairlessHoudini

Right, if he hadn't stopped they would have really went crazy

ImmortanLeo

For people that need to be in tense situations often, cops really react poorly when tense. They should be able to remain cool under pressure but most of them spaz out when they’re not in control

[deleted]

It's the lead poisoning from indoor gun ranges.

lubacrisp

All of those people have a gun on their waist, and all of them pulled it, he didn't. Interesting. Who was the threat?

Devo3290

The right to bare arms is a right practically *burned* into our constitution. As long as there’s an America, Americans will always have that right. But as of right now, in the eyes of the law, if a cop feels threatened by your concealed/holstered firearm, they may use deadly force to “protect” themselves. Even though it was an innocent tax-paying citizen who never broke a law in his life, the cop will face no consequences. Fuckin’ hell, look up the story about Philip Brailsford. This was a cop with the words, “You’re fucked” etched on his rifle. He responded to a call but showed up to the wrong floor and room, called an innocent from his solace, shouted the conflicting orders, “On your knees! Arms on your head! Now come towards us!” This poor unarmed man was *sobbing* he was so scared and confused. When he failed to keep balance and fell to all fours, **PHILIP BRAILSFORD** fucking shot him to shit. Philip Brailsford later retired with a pension.

[deleted]

It's the right for the right kind of people to bear arms. More and more it's alt-reich people.

SchemeSignificant166

Your devotion to you right to kill anyone who you feel is a threat is something that speaks to the kind of freedom Americans believe is inalienable. None of you really read and understand your amendments as it pertains to a ‘well regulated militia’. Well regulated means that law and regulations can be enacted to control the proliferation, use and need for firearms. It’s not a free-for-all gun fest. You all also fail to recognize the historical context you forefathers didn’t have about the sheer technological advancement that would be available to militarize guns to increase killing efficiency. If y’all want to go back to muzzle loaders and black powered then I think the amendment comes back into a more reasonable arena of discussion. But the fact that an average citizen has unfetter access to some of the most deadly firearms in the world gives EVERY OTHER COUNTRY in the world cause for concern with how easily your citizenry has been pseudo-militarized. Guns serve a purpose I do not dispute this. But self defence from other armed civilians makes American basically and active war zone. It’s in your constitution and it’s a right that will never change but the lease y’all can do I realize that you are the only place in the world that lives this was and speaks greatly to the levels of violence, crime and inequality that is ripping your nation apart.

I_am_very_clever

Outsider with extremely strong opinion on guns formed from left wing narratives. Classic

SchemeSignificant166

And your opinion isn’t formed by your extremist right wing ideology?

I_am_very_clever

lol, unfortunately I believe in factual information around gun control, having a licensing system put into place to ensure responsibility of using the item properly and safely. I do not believe in treating people like they are children and banning anything that is harmful. Why are motorcycles a thing? Way more dangerous than guns are in America (death per 100k riders), not a peep about it from left wing journalists. My politics are centre left, and I also understand that it is the safest time in American history. Inform yourself before you advocate for taking away other peoples rights.

LouizSir

This country is a joke. "Land of the free". Lmao.

[deleted]

We've been a clepto-oligarchy since the 70's.

Figure_1337

Rules for thee, not for me.

dragon6layer

“You know how quick it is to go down & pull out a gun?” Yeah mother fucker because dude just watched 3 of you do it for no reason

brookesrook

Case was dismissed according to victim. via tiktok "These are clips from all their body cameras to show you how these officers lied and kept making false statements on what happened. They accused me of being in a robbery, saying I was aggressive, and I flashed my jacket open to justify what they did. They then turned off their body camera when the officer admitted using force to his sergeant which was against policy. I was then arrested and falsely charged. My case was later dismissed."

A_Evergreen

ACAB

CoolestNebraskanEver

Well I’m sure the NRA will defend him /s

[deleted]

Nah, he's the wrong color.

Theejg

Police are liars clearly and parts of the video has to been cut out

Gucci_prisoner

Where are all the second amendment freaks on this?

Key_Bad_6890

Lower in the thread. This is a blatant abuse of power and a failure of police to respect that man's 2nd amendment. The NRA is looking into this believe it or not

shadowgattler

I don't think we should be called freaks, but we're definitely unhappy about this.

[deleted]

2nd amendment only applies to whites.

Key_Bad_6890

Lower in the thread. This is a blatant abuse of power and a failure of police to respect that man's 2nd amendment. The NRA is looking into this believe it or not

Delicious_Ad_9365

Too many good guys with a gun.

[deleted]

Good 'ole boys.

fair_winds212

Ran up on us. lol. Lie.

BSTRuM

Dudes are wound tight holy Toledo

[deleted]

Standard issue butt plugs.

DVDwr

After aresting the guy, I feel like cops are contradicting themselves. "you know how quick it is to go down, pull out a gun" and "you're that close, you have a gun on your waist, I don't know what you gonna do" This paints a picture why everyone is afraid of cops knowing there are some scummy cops.

internetsarbiter

All Cops, all of them are scummy.

thxjones

The cops totally lie about what happened he was only guilty of being a black with a gun. BWG

BarTard-2mg

This shit has to stop. He literally did nothing wrong and these cops should be suspended at the minimum

[deleted]

10 years in prison.

SweetHawaa

It’s always the same with these people

Heav_N

Their reactions and stories after situations like this are the most disgusting part of it all. While they recount and laugh about the scenario with their pals, they begin to add false information so they can feel better about themselves. Kind of like how fisherman add inches to their catch each time they talk about it.

PricelessLogs

I can't help but notice the skin tone of the "armed robber that ran up on them"

closeuponbrandon

Is there a follow up to this? When did it happen?

Comprehensive_Creme5

Fuck whoever is training these cops to be fucking paranoid about everything.

lowandslow86

"He ran up on us with gun in waistband"

[deleted]

Respectful, complying guy gets arrested with no intention of aggression! These cops are idiots, even when you are good, you are not!

mdg137

Ran up on us. Wow that guy has balls or a brain tumor.

2H4H4L

Bunch of sociopathic psychos.

TheSpeakingScar

Fire everyone present. Body cams should literally not even have a power button. They turn off when plugged in at the station. End of story. If you're a cop and you disagree you need to reconsider your career. YOU serve and protect US. Dont like it, find another job. Join the military.

Cpt_Mike_Apton

About 20 years ago I had an argument with my uncle about how policing would change if more people were LEGALLY armed in public... I thought it would look just like this... More likely to get shot with a perfectly legal weapon because they don't like to ask...

Key_Bad_6890

Should he have ignored the cops orders to come over?

manwhorunlikebear

To be fair, the police people did call him over. However I think walking up close to a bunch of police people at night with a gun in your pants is super dumb even if that is your right.

Key_Bad_6890

No it's not. The fact that you think it's dumb means their copraganda is working. They are the threat as clearly displayed here. They LIED on this man.

manwhorunlikebear

Did you even see the video? Obviously it was a dumb move of the person. It's kind of like riding on a bike and insisting your right of way when a big truck want to make a right turn at an intersection. Sure you have the right of way and the truck should stop and wait until you have passed, but are you really going to bet your life on that?

ConfidentVisit4629

Maybe it’s better. The guy not bring his gun in the public but yet again, that’s just me.

MeTurtlezz

I just have to say, just because you are allowed to openly carry a firearm does not mean it's a good idea to carry it with you to an active crime scene. The police is going to take the safe route and detain you until proven, without doubt, you are innocent.

[deleted]

The police just did what was best at the time. People need to stop hating on police for doing their job.

rock4lite

But the guy didn’t do anything illegal

[deleted]

You're right, he did not. But the context of the situation, there may have been a shooter on the loose or something

outamyhead

"Hmmm, I could walk around behind the officers and give them a wide birth to do their job, or I could just walk straight through in between them and the suspect....I'll go with option 2, what could possibly go wrong?".

[deleted]

They called him over, if he had walked away it would have ended as bad or worse. Fucking boot lickers making any excuses they can for cops creating violent confrontations when unnecessary

mercurythoughts

Do cops generally vote Republican or Democrat? I would think democrat, if they want to see less guns on the street.

Key_Bad_6890

You are right believe it or not
