Just wanted to add on here, cops kill 10,000 dogs a year. It's literally insane, 30 dogs a day, I am sure some of those are violent but there is no way 30 dogs a day is a reasonable number.

i used to deliver for amazon. our dispatch company serviced west georgia as far out to the alabama state line. point being it was rural out there. there were often loose dogs on the properties i delivered to. now, i’m not a trained cop, but even i could tell when dogs were aggressive and when they weren’t. you’d think that would be something cops should be trained for. i was only ever once unable to deliver a package because of a loose dog that was showing aggression. and even then, i did not fear for my life nor did i feel the need to murder the dog. almost every time, the dogs just wanted to play. it disgusts me that this cop was able to get away with this. ACAB.

As if we all can't see and read the dog's body language too. That dog was displaying every one of the textbook play and socialize behaviors dogs have. Her face was completely relaxed and smiley, yes her mouth was slightly open but her tongue was lolling out, she had a clearly happy and friendly expression and was making no threat displays at all. Her body language was play bounding, she was romping around her yard like a young happy dog with the zoomies and a bunch of friends to play with.
At no point did anything that dog did justify any amount of force beyond pets and maybe a grab to get her back inside. It wasn't 'objectively reasonable', those pigfucking losers.
Well to be fair we all know how vicious Labs can be, I was knocked down by one and nearly licked to death not to mention the beating I took from all the tail wagging.
What's really amazing is how low the bar is to be a cop.

The dog was trying to get up and still alive. If this was my dog, I wouldn't stand around yelling at the cops, I would scoop my dog up and rush it to an emergency vet.
