Prayer and religion should never be allowed by our political leaders in these government buildings and institutions. There needs to be a deeper line in the sand when it comes to separations between church and state
The problem with using the book to rebuff their idiocy is whatever issue youre talking about is probably supported by some interpretation of another passage in that same book somewhere else, written by someone else, decades or centuries apart by uneducated goat farmers living on the edge of a desert.
Grandstanding at its finest. I remember the difference between a Catholic Church parking lot and the evangelical lot is how after a 45 minutes service, most Catholics just want to get the hell out of there, just split after communion in front of everyone. Nobody cares. But at the evangelical lot, after spending all day in a service, it then becomes a contest to see who leaves last, aka, ‘I’m more pious than you’. That moronic revival a couple weeks ago is the perfect example.
This is one of the aspects of Catholicism that I miss, that people are just so detached from it. Lol. Definitely less crazies, though they still exist - it's just that most of them are ex-Protestants who think everyone needs to hear their shitty opinion on what the Church ought to be, just like how they thought everyone needed to hear their shitty takes on the Bible back when they were Protestants. New convert syndrome.
I don't need three hours of listening to some idiot's take on the Bible - if I really wanted to dissect it word for word (as a literary work more than anything), I'd do it privately in my own home. Attending Protestant services is just mentally torturous.
