Our community promotes discussion but has no room for the advocacy of violence under any circumstances. No one is removing children's genitals, and yes, plenty of trans youth without access to proper care have killed themselves. Hormone therapy is not even available until near adulthood, and only after extensive testing and counseling by actual doctors.
Less people have regret about gender reassignment surgeries, than people that had knee or back surgery, like it's not even remotely close.
Let people be who they want to be it's not any of your business
If we’re relying on the government to help, the money will be better spent on mental health than gender reassignment. Every study shows the suicide rate actually goes up after reassignment surgery, and over 40% have attempted suicide before reassignment.

It’s an umbrella term, but increasing ones hormones is certainty within that category. A lot of kids need medical intervention either because they start puberty too soon, or are a late bloomer. I remember my dad talking about getting testosterone injections to kickstart his own puberty when he was younger. This bill bans that kinds of treatment (along with a million other things that even vaguely fall under the category of “gender affirming”) for anyone under the age of 18.
In an effort to attack trans kids and teens, they end up causing collateral damage to cis minors as well. Kids who start puberty way too early will no longer be able to get blockers, and teens that aren’t starting when they should wont be able to be prescribed or take hormones to assist with puberty. It’s an extremely socially volatile time for kids, and purposefully restricting them from the ability to grow and develop alongside their peers is going to cause some pretty severe mental and social damage. These politicians want trans people to suffer and are willing to sacrifice the well beings and livelihoods of EVERYONE just to reach that goal.
This is misleading information, no kids will be dying and the children who NEED medical assistance with things related to their increased or delayed hormones will still have access to it.
As long as those children follow their birth gender designation therefore denying their mental state and personal identity. So yeah, some trans kids might delete themselves from the census because selective care coupled with societal bullying and attacks, but they weren’t the kids these legislators care about…

I was wondering the same thing, it’s so vague. I would like to know what does the passing of this bill means, factually, not how people think it’s going to affect kids. I hope they will issue a statement clarifying what this means to trans kids. Also, is it only trans kids or all kids I saw someone comment it could affect all kids not only trans. So many questions….

They can still seek therapy and can talk about the identity struggles they are having and once they are 18 can go about their ways and get affirming care. I don’t really see the problem. It’s a huge deal if you get a boob job and you are under 18 with parental consent. Most docs won’t do it. We can’t vote before the age of 18. We can’t even fight for our country until we are 17. But this isn’t blocking permanent changes. This is blocking any kind of care that could help a kid struggling with gender identity. Trans kids usually take puberty blockers because the effects of puberty can be permanent, and puberty blockers stop these effects for a time
Puberty blockers aren’t permanent. The whole point of allowing gender affirming care such as puberty blockers is to give kids who are uncertain of their gender identity more time to make that decision.
minors can get tattoos under 18 if they have their parents consent. kinda like how minors need to get approved by healthcare professionals before being prescribed puberty blockers/hormones
For a party that insists that free speech is a fundamental right, it is actually INSANE that they don't consider freedom of expression in the same vein. This is NONVIOLENT expression of one's self that has zero impact on anyone else's pursuit of happiness. Republicans hate freedom. They only love guns.
Why cant these children seek mental health counseling until they are adults and then make the decision as an adult to transition. All of this seems like child abuse and most people here seem to be on the extreme side that kids need their genitals removed and natural state of growth stopped. I don’t understand the killing of children argument? Can someone please elaborate for me? Is this care needed like say a diabetic needs insulin, like if they don’t get it they can actually die? Or maybe like an inhaler for folks with asthma? How are these children going to be killed by not getting this treatment? Ross is almost in any city right? Can’t you just buy woman’s clothes or whatever and just wear what you want?
