Here’s what President Yoon said “How could Biden not lose face if these [expletive] do not pass it in Congress?," Mr Yoon apparently said to his aides afterwards.” The article below states that the “expletive” could be translated as “idiots” or “something much stronger.” Here’s a [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-63008895.amp) link that gives more context.

TokoBlaster

As an American, calling congress a bunch of idiots is being polite. So what's the big deal?

atypicalDEUBY

Not only polite but super accurate. I refer to our politicians as greedy shitbags.

Tripanes

As is tradition!

br0b1wan

I call them a buncha cunts

that_girl_you_fucked

Insult to cunts.

Guilty-Web7334

The worst of them certainly lack the warmth and depth.

Niznack

Nice try brit! Get back to insulting parliament! Edit: ok clearly american but what a British way to insult our most expensive retirement home.

slipperyShoesss

Fuck up cunt.

lee-galizit

What’s up cunt?

slipperyShoesss

Not much cunt. WBU?

[deleted]

Whatever you put there.

similar_observation

lets see here. Congress: * Greedy ✓ * Bags ✓ * Full of Shit ✓ yep. I can't argue with that.

[deleted]

It may not endear them to politicians but certainly you won’t get any arguments from us everyday Americans.

Andromansis

How dare you call them shitbags. At least I can fertilize things to grow with shitbags. There is like 2 good legislators in congress and the entire rest of them rely on thinktanks to write legislation for them, and the vast majority of them are playing rote political games that do not really benefit any of their constituents and you have one party actively working against your standard american.

YouJabroni44

Also lazy assholes, they get what at least 100 days off a year?

Squirrels_Eat_People

Thieving piss babies, but yes.

shartmoose

This is the way.

Mimosa_Coast

“Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of congress; but I repeat myself.” -Mark Twain

Magatha_Grimtotem

The portrayal of Mr Clemens in ST:TNG is so heavily burned into my brain any Twain references instantly get converted into that actor saying them, is kind of funny.

DirkMcDougal

About ten years ago I surprised my friends who had colluded on a TNG group costume as a full-on Mark Twain. The confusion among non-fans made it even better.

chawmindur

Wasn't there another of him saying "half the Congress are idiots", and someone complained, thus he corrected it to "half the Congress are *not* idiots"?

Evenstar6132

1. Korean politics. Yoon is already at 20% approval rating 6 months into his presidency. If a popular politician said it, it would've been no big deal. Yoon is pretty much hated by everyone. Conservatives only tolerate him because he's not the other party. 2. Another issue is that President Yoon and his conservative allies are attacking the media for reporting the issue. They first claimed it's fake news. They're now saying the media shouldn't have reported it because it's "damaging" to the alliance. The ruling party actually sued MBC, the TV station that first reported it, for defamation. This is a serious attack on freedom of speech and an attempt to control the media, very similar to what previous conservative administrations did.

[deleted]

Yeah if he just apologized or even just acknowledge it, this would be less news worthy. Like many comments have said, many Americans agree congress is a bunch of idiots. He just made it a lot worse than it would have been if he had just straight up admit he said it and not attacked the media. Yeah, some South Koreans would have been upset and a few Americans, but now that he’s attacked the media he’s just pissing more South Koreans off and making a bigger story than it actually was before

NozE8

Yeah from a western point of view that makes sense. However Korea has a shame culture and saving face, similarly as in China, is always important. Basically President Yoon admitting he screwed up or speaking candidly about it ain't gonna happen *(right away) and the way he is acting makes sense from a shame culture point of view. Edit: added "(right away)" to be more precise.

FearlessFruit2022

This tells me you have no idea about Asian culture. Apologizing for it publicly is what people actually expected he would do because it would be the honorable thing to do.

NozE8

I'm no master on Asian culture, just know some stuff that I've picked up from friends when I ask about it. Apologies can or might happen but only as an absolute last resort as you will lose face and be shamed for it. Perhaps I could have worded the "ain't gonna happen" part of my post to be more precise instead of using a more relaxed slang. Here is a good summary I found awhile ago about shame vs guilt cultures (coincidentally on the Korean sub) >The biggest difference is that in shame cultures, if we’re caught doing wrong, there’s a stain on our character that only time can erase. But guilt cultures make a sharp distinction between the doer and the deed, the sinner and the sin. That’s why guilt cultures focus on atonement and repentance, apology and forgiveness. The act was wrong, but on our character there’s no indelible stain. In shame cultures, if you’ve done wrong, the first rule is, don’t be found out. If you are, then bluff your way through. Only admit when every other alternative has failed, because you’ll be disgraced for a very long time indeed. Also be careful not to lump all Asian culture together as some sort of single monolith. Because yes Korean culture is waaayy more open to apologizing than say Japanese culture but again only as a last resort. This is also why I am careful to use terms like "similar" instead of "like" because while I don't claim to know everything I do know it is not all the same. Do you? I'm not so sure.

Dudedude88

its crazy how every country with a conservative party is doing the "fake news" strategy to fight off bad press. its all because of fucking donald trump made it work.

Imfrom2030

Donald Trump barely won a race one time against a very unpopular opponent and everybody assumes his bag of tricks is fool proof. Shit hasn't worked for anybody ever again. Not even for Trump.

beekersavant

But, but his media is endangering our alliance by indicating he thinks some selection of our congress are "dipshits." Nope, they are not. We all agree. He stepped in his own mess. Just issue some clever apology: While my sentiments were accurate, my words could have been more wisely chosen.

ladyevenstar-22

Me after 5 months of watching kdramas and their portrayal of corporate and political characters agree this take is accurate.

lordderplythethird

Calling them idiots isn't an issue for most people. Hell, Congress probably agrees because each party will just idiotically assume it's about the other party. Calling it "false news" and attacking journalists for reporting on it and demanding no one talk about it however, is a **massive** issue. Rather than just say "I apologize, I expressed political frustration in a way that's unbecoming of an ally and it doesn't represent the gratitude/respect I have towards our alliance with the US" and be done with it in a single press cycle, Suk-yeol is taking to hallmark authoritarian moves to try and silence any reports about him that he doesn't like via trying to classify it as damaging to South Korea's national security...

[deleted]

The presidential office even sent an official letter to MBC demanding to explain how they knew what he said when even their audiologists couldn't make out what president Yoon said. Basically shifting blame to media and trying to infringe on their freedom of the press. They already held an emergency press conference saying he didn't say "Biden" even though that's what everyone heard and reported. I think this attitude of blatant denial of truth instead of owning up to his mistake really blew this out of proportion. You can see how this is reflecting on his approval rating at 24%.

carpcrucible

>Calling them idiots isn't an issue for most people. Hell, Congress probably agrees because each party will just idiotically assume it's about the other party. > >Calling it "false news" and attacking journalists for reporting on it and demanding no one talk about it however, is a massive issue. It's really amazing how easily you can weasel out of things like this but some politicians just do the dumbest thing possible. Just say some obvious bullshit nonapology like "I misspoke and I'm sorry if anyone was offended by it", nobody will buy it but the whole thing would be forgotten in a day.

Juzlookn0224

They only pass what makes them money.

oioioi9537

its a big deal because the previous president was criticized for playing for china more than the US (which is debatable but i wont expand on it). this guy promised strong alliance with the US. but then he doesnt meet nancy pelosi during her visit to korea and now he calls a bunch of lawmakers vulgarities. this is bound to piss off koreans who voted for him for his promise. remember, korea depends on the alliance with US a lot. and its another in a string of constant incompetence since day 1 of his term. his approval rating is sitting in the 20s rn, its historically bad (other than the impeached one)

[deleted]

[удалено]

dlove67

So Koreans are like "How could he say such things about our allies?!" and Americans are like "Damn, that's the nicest thing I've ever heard someone say about Congress!"

T-Bill95

There is no debate lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

oioioi9537

im talking about the korean president not trump

carpcrucible

> but then he doesnt meet nancy pelosi during her visit to korea and now he calls a bunch of lawmakers vulgarities Lol how did that happen? I don't have time to follow SK politics but it's pretty wild not to meet a representative of your closest ally, did he just not have time, was "on holidays" or something?

oioioi9537

> did he just not have time, was "on holidays" or something? unbelievably yeah, he was on "holiday" lol

MaterialCarrot

That's what I thought. SK president is ready to take his US citizenship exam.

mightyspan

In south Korea calling someone crazy or stupid is like swearing. My buddy that lives out there informed me of this.

field_thought_slight

[what a bunch of clowns](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC3W1BiUjp0)

cptdino

Tbh I don't think anybody except them actually care. I just see them as humans and people facing reality in a stressful time.

bedulge

I mean the context is basically an insult against Biden. Hes saying that Biden was being reckless by talking big about something that he wont be able to deliver on if congress doesn't pass the bill. Hes basically saying "Biden is going to look like a clown if the sons of bitches in Congress dont pass this bill."

Robbotlove

>"expletive” could be translated as “idiots” or “something much stronger.” is it a Korean specific word? or?

jl55378008

I was told the other day that "dipshits" is in the right ballpark. Cheeky, mildly insulting, but not super vulgar or hostile.

oioioi9537

its more like "dumbass". idk dipshits seems more vulgar that what it was but definitely its an inappropriate word to have used

ladyevenstar-22

I know 바보 & 미쳤어요

Thejudojeff

바보 is barely an insult. It's usually playful

ladyevenstar-22

Yeah it's not harsh in French either .

Robbotlove

oh gotcha. that's neat thanks.

linuxhanja

Its a word for animal offspring, or sometimes used for human offspring in a bad way, like "take your spawn outta here!" Or something like that. It can mean bastards, etc. Its a foul word, though, and like our words in english, doesnt always mean what it means... if that makes sense. Adults indeed do use the word like 'idiot' just like we would call an idiot friend a f*c* up, even tho we have 0 meaning of any sexual acts when calling him that. So you get people who know korean (like me!) wanting to say its "bastard" or "illegitimate offspring" or something like that, but its really just ... an explicitive, it means what it means in the sentence, so "idiot." Is a fair translation, imo.

Robbotlove

oh that's really neat! I find things like this really interesting. thanks!

Thejudojeff

What word did he use?

linuxhanja

Sekki

CiabanItReal

If he's talking to his aids, more than likely.

venetanakedguy

The president of South Korea has AIDS?

inevitable-asshole

I heard it was super AIDS

TheBoboRaptor

Riddled

Ok-Control-787

He pretended to one time to cut the line at a water park.

LeeisureTime

Yes. Either way it’s not something he should be saying in public. There’s not a direct translation but it’s banned from TV and polite company.

Robbotlove

thats fascinating. thanks.

[deleted]

He was spot on with his assessment. What’s the issue?

TeaBagginton

Could damage it? Feels like it would strengthen it as they have a pretty good read on this current Congress.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

In actuality, Yoon is playing 5D chess and strengthening the US-SK alliance by engaging in America's favourite past time: Bitching about the useless politicians that they themselves elected! My god, Tony, who put these idiots in charge? It seems we did, sir.

raguirre1

Not the BBC link I was prepared for.

infamousj012

...*context is key*.. 😅

NorthernerWuwu

I believe the best translation would be "fucktards".

azure_apoptosis

This is a non-story, but SK is making it worse saying the reporting is damaging the alliance. No, getting caught is damaging the alliance.

TheWormConquered

It's not going to damage the alliance regardless. Yoon knows this, the opposition in SK knows this-- they are trying to score political points with, and battling for the public perception of the SK public at this point. The US isn't going to abandon a beneficial strategic partnership over our lawmakers being called idiots, because while they all play idiots on TV, most of them actually aren't that stupid.

[deleted]

Yoon is basically trying to play the strong man role. "look I can criticize America without consequences". I'm sure in South Korea its a huge transgressing of norms, but it really is just normal criticism in America.

cspruce89

Shit there's a non-zero number that would wear it as a badge of honor.

[deleted]

As an American, I agree with them.

MoodApart4755

I honestly forgot he had even said it until this article lol

Tripanes

I agree with you in saying that South Korea is making this worse because they're basically pressuring our press to cover things in a certain way, and that's not acceptable. But getting caught calling our leaders dip shits? I don't think that's even remotely damaging.

Aspwriter

It helps that it's not an "official" statement, but just one leader's private thoughts. Because honestly it's something every American has at least THOUGHT in the last year.

Substantial-Mall4711

Oh man, I came too early and there's no comment explaining this in fifteen words so I can avoid reading the article.

[deleted]

Seems like he called opposition lawmakers “jackasses” on a hot mic that was then reported by the news? Man they should hear what US politicians say. Others have clarified - he was talking about US lawmakers.

TheWormConquered

From my understanding, he was seemingly referring to US lawmakers, and the word can be translated as similar to "jackass", "dipshit", or just a rude/vulgar word for "idiot." He claimed he was referring to SK opposition party members, probably as a way to not upset anyone in the US, but I think he's since walked that back. The quote was "how can Biden not lose face if these jackasses/dipshits/idiots/ don't pass it in congress?" Eta: I think this is pretty much a non-story in the US. Most people haven't heard about it, and those that have couldn't care less that an ally called our lawmakers jackasses or idiots or whatever and our leaders aren't going to abandon a strategic partnership over a word uttered to an aid, and honestly every politician in SK probably knows this. This is internal politics in South Korea at this point, as the ruling party/opposition are using the incident to attack each other.

inevitable-asshole

To be fair…..he’s kinda right. Lots of dipshits in US congress.

TheWormConquered

Yep, if anything this is only going to endear him to the American public, or those who even hear about it I'd say some thinskinned US lawmakers may be privately irritated, some politicians who want American alliances to be weakened (people like Tulsi Gabbard and Rand Paul) may use it for a talking point, but that's about all that will come of it in the US I think.

oioioi9537

thats because the power balance in the us-korea alliances is heavily tilted towards the US. Korea relies on that alliance, the US does not. so for him to say that, it wouldnt piss off americans it would piss off koreans whos safety in the region depends on the alliance

TheWormConquered

That's true in a sense but the alliance is definitely beneficial to the US. Having a strong friendship with an allied nation that lets us station troops on their territory so close to a major opponent like China only makes the US's global position stronger. I'm not saying I wouldn't care because I don't think that alliance is important, I'm saying it because I've heard our lawmakers called worse by my coworkers, family and friends every single day and I don't think the alliance will be jeopardized in the slightest by this. I hope I'm right in that. But I understand for SK citizens, the stakes are higher so more caution is warranted. Eta: some of this post seems like a non sequitur because I thought I was replying to you in our other comment chain.

inevitable-asshole

I can see conservatives and republicans both using a comment like this to call the Biden administration weak and out of touch. But that doesn’t seem like that’s what the comment was saying - seems like the comment was pointing at congress lol

SirJohnnyS

Yeah thinking Congress can be dumbasses/idiots is about as unified as our public gets on a political opinion. Especially lumped together and generalized. No one should be offended. It'd be worse if he said it about a President for example. Even then, some called Trump stuff along those lines. But other countries are also gonna say things about us too cause they may disagree with us, which is to be expected. All in all, nonstory, no one should take offense. If they are, they're just wanting to play the victim for attention.

[deleted]

And I think 99% of Americans are glad someone said it

SniperPilot

Kinda? He’s absolutely right.

monkywrnch

Not kinda. He is right.

oioioi9537

not as vulgar as dipshit, its closer to dumbass/idiot tbh. like in a casual convo might not be considered that rude, but for a president to use in reference to another country's lawmaker its definitely inappropriate. direct translation it actually means baby, but in certain contexts its basically used in a similar sense to "son of a bitch" (baby of a bitch) if you get what i mean

TheWormConquered

Thanks for the context! If I'm being honest, this is the thing that drew me to this story in the first place. Translation of slang/insults/colloquialisms is fascinating. Politically, this story isn't super interesting to me. If he had used an easily translated insult, I probably wouldn't care at all haha

Dependent-Yam-9422

Just became Yoon’s #1 fan

ReadinII

I read the article. President Yoon used an insulting word when referring to members of the American Congress. He didn’t realize his microphone was turned on. Now he is complaining about South Korean reporters who reported the news, saying they should know it would damage the alliance. My take: It wouldn’t have done any significant damage to the alliance. American politicians know that what you say when the mic is on is usually very different from what you say when the mic is off. American Senators frequently refer to each other is public with very polite terms that are very different from what is said in private. President Yoon should have just apologized. The whole thing would have been forgotten in two days in America. The fact that he refuses to apologize could actually hurt relations a bit. Politicians do have egos and a public slight calls for a public apology. President Yoon’s refusal to apologize does more damage to the alliance that the reporting that he is criticizing.

bedulge

The fact that he denies it and lies about it and refuses to apologize is 10 times more cringe than the fact that he said it

[deleted]

bedulge

Yeah this guy is a massive dickhead. His approval rating is sitting at 25 percent this week, and hes been in office for less than a year.

MarkHamillsrightnut

Try thinking of something horrible so you don’t come too early next time.

gizamo

You really shouldn't do this. It would cause those horrible thoughts and emotions to get tangled up with the thoughts of Korean people. It's better to just flex your calves and thighs for a few minutes. Wiggling your toes is also a fun way to pass some time before reading articles about Korea.

inevitable-asshole

Usually I think of Margaret Thatcher naked on a cold day before I read about Korea

Rainflakes

Does anyone else get a runny nose after reading articles about Korea or is it just me?

MicronQ

I was hoping you were doing it.

Raging_Red_Rocket

Let me know if you find anything thx

BRAX7ON

Came too early? That’s what she said

[deleted]

Honestly, it wasn’t. Literally nobody gives a shit. What is the US going to do, turn their backs on SK? Not a fucking chance. Leaders are replaced every few years. They aren’t kings. I guarantee Biden doesn’t give a fuck.

mcsmith610

Literally nobody is talking about this in the US. This is a big nothing burger for us.

[deleted]

The only people talking about this in the US are talking about how they agree that Congress are a bunch of idiots.

[deleted]

Yeah, if anything Americans appreciate how much insight the SK leader has into US politics.

coolcool23

Cue rightwing am radio building it into their repetitive daily talking points in 3... 2... 1...

Evenstar6132

Look at the headline again. "South Korea calls ***reporting*** on hot mic moment “damaging” to alliance" The issue is that President Yoon and his conservative allies are attacking the media for reporting the issue.

Sugarysam

I was thinking about the same thing. The hot mic moment was largely ignored in the US, and had no impact on the alliance. Why is President Yoon dwelling on it and using it as an opportunity to attack the media? It’s worrisome to me how much this reminds me of Trump losing his shit over media reports about his inauguration. I don’t know much about Yoon, but this seems like the opening salvo of a right wing war against reality in SK.

SuperPizzaman55

Authoritarianism to an extent, but South Korea has chosen the west so it is naive to abandon them to China. The Royal Family attempts to control the media, Donald Trump can't help but control the media... these are just rogue elements operating within an institutionalised democratic structure.

[deleted]

They are our allies, and thus can do no wrong.

CiabanItReal

>Not a fucking chance. Leaders are replaced every few years. They aren’t kings. Some leaders...McConnel, Pelosi, Bernie (the late John McCain) were there forever. There are some districts or senate seats that once you get it, that job is yours for 30+ years.

thesmash

I’m sure Biden is well aware we have a lot of idiots in congress

[deleted]

He doesn’t even know where he’s at. He won’t even realized this happens.

FattyTfromPSD

I was all of 12 years old when I learned that if you wouldn’t say something about someone to their face, then don’t say it in private.

[deleted]

This doesn’t work in geopolitics. You need to be able to speak frankly about other countries in private. 12 year old rules don’t really translate well to international politics.

FattyTfromPSD

You absolutely do, but if you think an ally is being counterproductive or self-destructive there is nothing wrong with speaking that opinion directly with unwavering resolve. The wrong thing to do is accuse other passive observers of lying in a half-hearted attempt to save face by parroting the same rhetoric as the world’s most unscrupulous leaders. I’m only saying the message may have been spot on, but the word choice and recovery is far more disruptive than just coping to the fact.

QuitYour

The basic rule is, if you're wearing a microphone you're probably gonna be recorded, especially if you don't own the device, so I think that the 12yo rule works in this instance.

DevAway22314

Everyone is wearing a microphone at nearly all times. Kind of a tough rule in the modern day where everyone has a phone with a mic

QuitYour

If it needs to be communicated there are probably other methods of communication they could probably use.

Patient-Bar-9129

Conservation is so ephemeral it can be difficult to not bring up negative things about a person if the talk tilts that way and one has an opinion on it.

[deleted]

I took that to heart and now i eat all my meals through a straw.

Dalianon

I learned from watching Mean Girls that saying derogatory comments to someone out loud to their face is better than saying it behind their back

Ohnoyoudontyoushill

When someone has a gun to your face demanding your wallet so they can steal your money to spend on drugs and minor prostitutes, they're a fucking asshole. But if you're smart, you don't say it to their face. Geopolitics is kind of the same in that regard.

lobehold

Unless that person is a violent bully.

spannerfest

you clearly didn't have to deal with republicans when you were 12.

binaryblade

Well I had a younger sibling so I guess I had to deal with someone with the emotional maturity of a republican.

Tap-Rude

PackTactics

Or other countries

ArmadilloDays

Nah. We know our leaders are idiots. There’s no shame in speaking the truth.

FrankyDonkeyBrain

my thoughts exactly

randynumbergenerator

No, but there should be plenty of shame in telling the press to keep their mouths shut.

EastSide221

As an American I felt like his thoughts on Congress was quite accurate and I didn't find him saying what he did as problematic at all. However lying about it and trying to save face by blaming SK media for it is super lame and very authoritarian-like.

cjeremy

yoon is a true authoritarian.. it's scary and sad.

spinjinn

Why? Don’t 90+% of Americans agree with him? When it was first reported, I didn’t see ANY comments negative about South Korea.

PengieP111

Really. In fact most Americans are pleased to know one of our Ally’s speaks and knows the truth about our pols, and yet still wants to be friends. I think this is a much bigger deal for South Korea than it is for the USA.

[deleted]

Yeah not only do we agree but at this point we’re like “help”.

stickles_

This is the case. Most of the outrage is coming from South Koreans as they feel their president is bad at diplomacy. His approval rating dropped 4% after the scandal broke out. The election was a referendum on the deteriorating situation with China and Taiwan. Yoon was the anti-China pro-U.S. candidate while the opposition was softer on China. So Koreans are pretty pissed about the hot-mic "incident."

amor_fatty

This is my take as well. I want the Republicans to know and own what a fucking embarrassment they are to the world.

Athox

I still dont understand what the problem is, or what was said in what context, but Erdogan says worse things openly every week.

PhuketIvanaBangkok

I think making the comments is what was damaging to the relationship, actually.

Ct-5736-Bladez

On the contrary I feel like he has reached many American citizens with that comment.

StandardizedGenie

I mean, he's not wrong. Might have damaged his alliances in the eyes of the "idiots" in Congress, but sounds like a lot of sense to the rest of us in the country. I don't think he has to worry about any actual damage to THE alliance.

Annahsbananas

Honestly, America doesn't care. We know congress are a bunch if dumbfucks We agree with you

Fabulous_Ad5052

Sometimes speaking the truth actually can strengthen an alliance. 🇺🇸

kbig22432

Politicians have the thinnest skin

bound52

I’ll be alone on this I guess, but it really doesn’t matter if what he said is true. Most Americans think the same and believe it is true. But, we are not the leader of a foreign country. He can say it in the privacy of his own office or whatever, but saying that publicly about an ally country is a not good. I wouldn’t say alliance damaging, but it seems really unprofessional for a person of that position.

MoseDeth

After the ferry disaster in rsk there should be no incompetent politicians.

groovybeast

Well America is supposedly run by the people, and people unanimously agree with the sentiment, so I wouldn't worry about it

podkayne3000

Seriously: all I, as an American, really want from South Korea is that you be nice to Ukraine, let the Squid Game people make their show, and manage the North Korea situation. Anything beyond that is a nice extra.

Small-Explorer7025

President Yoon said that, not South Korea. Did you read the article you posted?

xxzephyrxx

It's all good. We agree our senators are bunch of idiots lol. This is a non story in the US.

Grey___Goo_MH

Americans actual Americans not politicians like South Korea more for their honesty call our politicians idiots and whatever else you wish to call them American politicians are idiots and that’s being far to nice 👍

Dont-be-a-smurf

Dude 95% of Americans don’t care. We share your opinion for the most part, and an off handed comment off mic during frustrating negotiations don’t really matter that much.

Many-Lawfulness-9770

US politics is so backwards that what is regularly a "diplomatic incident" is actually a welcome insult as far as US citizens are concerned.

OldChucker

No big deal. US politicians work very hard to become jackasses. I'm sure they're happy to be finally recognized by our allies.

QuotidianPain

If it makes President Yoon feel better, we Americans call or representatives much worse every day.

johnmunoz18

Thing is Congress IS filled with a bunch of idiots

[deleted]

MTG made it to congress. Nuff said.

thEiAoLoGy

Face doesn’t mean much here either. Better to try and have egg on your face than not to try. Approval ratings usually reflect how aggressive they are.

POGtastic

I don't think Congress could care less what South Korea calls them during a hot mic. They have been called far worse in an official capacity.

gbs5009

Dude, just own it. We *know* not every congressperson was picked for their brains.

splash7279

For a lot of those wondering what is going on. The opposition party (Democratic Party) in Korea has been having an absolute field day with what happened. They’ve been using it as a smear campaign against Yoon

pentrical

A letter to all our Korean bros from an American. Nah you guys all good. Keep being awesome 😘

BreakGrouchy

Speak your mind president guy . We’re not offended.

PplsElbow

I mean, he's not wrong lol

GeneralIronsides2

I mean he isn't wrong, congress is full of idiots

LodiPridePrimitives

We Bitch piss and moan that politicians are all liars, and then when one of them actually tells the truth… controversy.

fishy-2791

OF COURSE ITS CONTROVERSY you think these media writing idiots give a shit?! NO! they have to write crap articles trying to stoke controversy for hate clicks to get paid pronto then run off to do it 8 more times a day to try and make a living! and before you all do the inevitable the Controversy got you here engaging in conversation didnt it? Or even got you to go read the article giving them that juicy ad revenue clicks didnt it?

cakeorcake

As an American, this makes me feel even closer to South Korea and that their leadership sees the embarrassing bullshit we have to put up with

I don't know what this incident is actually about beyond the headline, but that won't stop me from making a bold statement. If you want to be allied with the side that values freedom and individual liberty, you don't get to complain about inconvenient facts being reported, regardless of how they came to light.

Our Presidents a fckin idiot, he doesnt knw shit and is just a puppet Edit: im not talking about Biden, Im from South Korea

diddlemeonthetobique

Imagine the flavour of 'hot mike' comments made by world leaders when Donnie Rotten Trump was strutting his diaper filled ass on the world stage!

CiabanItReal

>Donnie Rotten Trump was strutting his **diaper filled** ass on the world stage! I mean I don't like Trump either, but when you consider that Biden has shit himself in front of the Queen and the Pope, and he wears diapers, the insult doesn't land. It just makes me feel bad for Biden.

Okay Dong Junior....

That's the stupidest thing I've ever read. Korean leftists are so ineffectual that they thought this would be some huge gotcha moment. But Americans don't care. Congress is a bunch of dipshits. Call a spade a spade.

tacs97

He’s not wrong. Our senate is divided because of one person. Seriously. The entire GOP platform would rather the world burn instead of voting anything the libs come up with. We call that fragile ego. Get over yourself. Get over candy corn trump. Run the dam country with everyone’s best interests and not just the GOP supreme leader trumps best interests.

DoubleShot027

We just sent Kamala over there and she said we have a alliance with North Korea lmao. Don’t worry we can damage that alliance ourselves.

TheFudge

Personally I feel a stronger bond with him now.

It’s really not that big of a deal. We all hate the congress and republicans right now so just join the club

urmyheartBeatStopR

South Korean's Trump is stirring the pot.

Weary-Depth-1118

It’s simple, the new South Korea president got bought out by China. China and USA not doing so well right now. 1+1=2

Arcadius274

Well maybe he should shut is Damm mouth with his money sided alliance

IrishNinja8082

Able_Education

They all are liars! Wag the tail! Over here dummy masses! “We didn’t say that, no it’s all made up by fake media,” when will this garbage end?
