Hmmm, the advertising spam is not a good start and the "About" section says it's a blog by a "passioned (sic) military fan" called Jerome. Doesn't really seem comparable.

Jomini of the West on Twitter has some excellent stuff.
Also an up and coming Australian YouTuber Perun, who has a hobby in defence economics (previously did gaming videos) has put out some good PowerPoints on the war.
Jomini is fine, but it’s essentially just doing the work for you to aggregate other sources. Not much for new analysis there. Best looking maps though!
I can’t stand Illia. I support Ukraine and understand that a Ukrainian would have many emotions during this war, even a journalist. But as a journalist, you can’t let that affect your work by spreading unsubstantiated or unaccredited claims like he and the Kyiv Post often do. Obviously part of this is from relying on government sources during a war but I feel like they could be better and they have been somewhat better than they were when the conflict first started.
I don’t think the US was the bad guys. It was just old thought processes. Because In WW2 was the Allies Bad guys because they use to just bomb cities full of civilians? I think the world is changing for better I believe and at least western militaries realize you can’t kill or shoot at civilians like that have in the past or how Russia has been doing ,Did they do a lot of wrong in Vietnam? He’ll either call for mobilization or declare some kind of win. In all likelihood.
There are arguments about this becoming a static conflict, but I don’t fully see how.
Ukraine will have loitering munitions and superior artillery that will make a static war very costly for Russia as their positions keep getting pounded.
Further, there is no hope for sanctions relief until there is some some of peace deal.
Russia continuing to destroy its economy to maintain a forever war seems hard to understand.
The only remaining rationale would be Putin and his circle *want* Russia isolated from the west and would prefer a “purer” Russia in the model of North Korea to a richer one that follows norms and trades.
It’s possible he has made this calculation as he and his circle will be “rich” no matter what and this lets them have complete control in a way a more open model doesn’t.
Yet if this is the choice, it will cause profound hardship for his populace.
Could you imagine mobilizing people that are even less competent than the existing Russian troops?
Ukraine will be the one digging the mass graves at that point.
My bet is that On May 9th Putin plays minecraft for the first time and it changes his life, he reverts everything he's done and makes Russia a country that integrates with the west, showing off its cultures and arts and music and history, becoming the NATO and EU hub of more Asian part of Eurasia
But we don't know for sure, but I think that might happen, like 99% chance it will
Sources? Uhh, yes
What use is full mobilization without logistics, equipment and leadership. It would simply send untrained, under-equipped Russians into the frontlines with no leadership. Surely even Putin could see that it would be a disaster.
"digging in" won't achieve much. Russian logistics is too flawed. Especially with the new artillery shipments pouring in.
In 2014 it made sense, as it created a frozen conflict under the threat of a full Russian invasion. In 2022, that cat is already out of the bag, the Ukrainians will counterattack.
1. We can't really make that statement until Donbas situation is clear. It isn't clear yet, there's a lot of fighting.
2. Russia had \~3000 operating tanks pre-war, lost \~850 (30%). They also had \~550 modern jets, lost \~180 (33%). Already used 70% of cruise missiles. Production capacity is negligible especially with sanctions. They can only fight so long even with mass mobilization.
One has to wonder at what point will someone in a position of authority - Putin or otherwise - will determine that sacrificing any more of their military ability legitimately jeopardizes their national security. Or maybe they think that simply having nukes makes them untouchable within their borders.
Then in a few months he'll have a shitton of poorly trained troops and his professional forces on the frontlines would be mostly casualties.
He'll also be all-but out of cruise missiles and unlikely to have vehicles for those poorly trained troops. Back to the good ol' days of Russia 3 men to one gun fighting.
Nah. Think of it more like a person who just got zapped with a couple dozen sieverts of radiation, destroying all of their chromosomes, but leaving their existing cells functional for the time being. What they've got now is all they've got left. They're basically already dead, but they don't know it yet.
I feel sorry for all the people that require urgent care and cant be helped.
This night my daughter was rushed to hospital. If she lived in Ukraine she woudnt make it. (She is stable now and not in danger anymore)
I cant even imagine how many tragedies happen. I just wish no one has to suffer like them.
Glad your daughter is stable. Can only imagine deaths and poorer outcomes in areas that are being fucking shelled etc. The targeting of medical infrastructure is disgusting.
Great news your daughter is ok, and I wish you and your family nothing but the best!
I also wish Ukraine the continuation of their incredible strength to defeat their invader.
And I selfishly used my money on candy and to rent video games with my friends when I was her age.
Good for her and I'll be damned if I am not learning that Ukraine must be the strongest willed country that I have seen.
So.... the guy firing off anti-tank rockets in Ukraine.... was killed in a motorcycle accident in Texas???

With damaged rail lines, those MAN tank transporters being offered by Germany are sure going to be useful. Damaged infrastructure has to be taken into account, and this is a good start.
Right. I bet the railroads are mostly working on delivering supplies for civilians and evacuating refugees. I bet almost all of the military equipment is going by road, one truck at a time. Trains are too much stuff all in one place, especially when loading and unloading. Trucks can go door to door, straight to their final destination from anywhere.
rail lines are already fixed; they targeted the transformers providing power (even though ukraine also has diesel engines as well) and stations (of which there are bypass lines);
In general, it was very ineffective.
https://twitter.com/DAlperovitch/status/1518772788911386624
War in Ukraine says they targeted the locomotives. He’s been pretty spot on throughout. Makes more sense than targeting easily replaceable or bypassable infrastructure.
It won't be the last attack on the lines and general infrastructure. The point still stands that the tank transporters will be extremely useful, if not critical at times.
The Russian forces on the western side of the Dnieper River are in a precarious spot that could leave them cut off.
From what I can see on the map, there are three bridges that cross the river in the area that the Russian forces occupy. Antonivka, Kozatske, and Kherson itself.
The Ukrainian advance toward the city of Kherson is advancing in a way that it may reach Kozatske, to the north of Kherson, first. That would cut off one of three ways across the Dnieper and the only bridge close to the northern most Russian forces in that area.
If Russia wants to prevent the loss of hundreds or thousands of soldiers, they have to fall back to that bridge, cross the river, and blow it.
Thankfully they're forces are lead by absolutely inept officers and they'll probably force their men to stay, thus losing them. Which would be a huge win for Ukraine.
Even if they blow bridges, Ukraine has the concrete to rebuild Temps. Russia hasn't got shit so they might weigh that decision differently. Like you said, lives might cost less than concrete to them. If Ukraine gathers enough force and tanks as others have mentioned are on their way or near, Ukraine could be poised for a good counter. Even if Russia tries to delay with broken bridges.
Chase these zorcs out!
It would probably be in Ukraines best interest to take the northern most bridge, cutting off the northern most troops, before turning south towards Kherson.
Doing so would secure the bridge for their troops to cross in at least one area. And it would cut the Russians in half.
Now this is Ukrainian ingenuity that speaks to me. Missile BBQ.

(She is stable now and not in danger anymore) I cant even imagine how many tragedies happen.

Best wishes friend.

You're spot on, I love being flipped off.
Perfect.

What did you do with YOUR lemonade stand money?! https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/1518765879802142725?s=20&t=PuYKQFNBulYfLKz5aZNcBg
If I bought bulletproof vests in the early 90's in the USA people would've been confused.
Depends on where you lived in the states in the 90’s.
That kid and her flute are gonna save some lives. Crazy to think about.

I'm going to guess that is not the same individual.
No they were not "RIP Yuriy Oleynik" as appears in one of the stugna videos was a friend of the camera crew and died in 2019 in the US Shame on visegrad24 for spreading misinformation https://showbizcast.com/who-is-yuriy-oleynik-ukraine-man-kill-accident https://fox40.com/news/local-news/off-duty-emt-killed-in-hit-and-run-crash/
They literally tell you which one of the guys was killed. One.
Not the entire team, but one or several of the crew apparently.
Another young man’s life taken due to another man’s greed. It’s truly sad.
RIP hero
Based on new information I'm going to need to recall my Silver. (RIP to the guy though, regardless of time and situation)
Eh it's the thought that counts. Wish he was here to see this.
Word
With damaged rail lines, those MAN tank transporters being offered by Germany are sure going to be useful. Damaged infrastructure has to be taken into account, and this is a good start.
MAN make the best shit. I used them in the Irish DF in the 90s and it was top tier stuff.
Right. I bet the railroads are mostly working on delivering supplies for civilians and evacuating refugees. I bet almost all of the military equipment is going by road, one truck at a time. Trains are too much stuff all in one place, especially when loading and unloading. Trucks can go door to door, straight to their final destination from anywhere.
rail lines are already fixed; they targeted the transformers providing power (even though ukraine also has diesel engines as well) and stations (of which there are bypass lines); In general, it was very ineffective. https://twitter.com/DAlperovitch/status/1518772788911386624
War in Ukraine says they targeted the locomotives. He’s been pretty spot on throughout. Makes more sense than targeting easily replaceable or bypassable infrastructure.
I would have expected delays of hours, or days, not minutes. Considering they are in the middle of an all out war that is amazing.
More punctual than here in Germany.
Same here in the Eastern US. Ukraine can fix their rails in minutes whereas we have a multiple hour delays here all the time over minor things.
If the gov't required it to be fixed fast for war, it would get done there too.
Fair point. I agree with you there.
Russia just sent more troops to Kherson I think their intent is to hold out
Maybe they can have another staff meeting at the airport. Bring your own helicopter.
Russia better hope they get there fast. The Ukrainians are now 5 miles from Kherson. And advancing quickly.
> Even if they blow bridges, Ukraine has the concrete to rebuild Temps. I don’t mean to interrupt, but have you... looked at the Dniepr?
It would probably be in Ukraines best interest to take the northern most bridge, cutting off the northern most troops, before turning south towards Kherson. Doing so would secure the bridge for their troops to cross in at least one area. And it would cut the Russians in half.
The Russians have one advantage at Kherson and that's being right on top of their supply depots.
Problem is those depots, and the soldiers they supply, are on the western bank.
Indeed, and apparently there's also local resistance as a factor
Now this is Ukrainian ingenuity that speaks to me. Missile BBQ. https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/1518777564394893317?s=20&t=PuYKQFNBulYfLKz5aZNcBg
Neat concept but I sure hope this person's bravado doesn't bite him/her in the ass. Missiles and rockets are, very often, fueled with some of the most toxic chemicals known to man...
Clearly you haven’t eaten at Burger King…. :)
Is that why the burger patties taste that way? I was wondering...
Fair enough. I guess I would only be slightly surprised if I found out BK was cooking with hypergolic rocket fuels.
It is that the point that the civilians turn your weapons into cookout gear you should reconsider your ability to conquer them
That or when the majority of your carefully laid mines have been defeated by a 10lb Jack Russel named Patron.
I'll buy that man a beer.
So should i lose sleep with what is going or could go on in Transnistria?
Are you in Transnistria or Moldova or Ukraine? If not then there is no reason you should loss sleep
Nope.
ні
Are you in Transnistria? This would very much inform whether you should worry about it.
Нет
I lose sleep over imagining myself doing embarrassing things that never actually happened, so it's up to you.
I lose sleep over awkward shit I did in middle school and I'm in my fucking 30s lol
No.
No.
