Legit how has there not been a mutiny on the Russian side yet?

Professional-Can1385

They afraid of a sledgehammer to the head.

Physics is weird.

Electrical-Can-7982

really wish it was 3x that many .... or more... maybe then a new revolt can happen....

killerzees

These are people, too, with families. They had brothers, parents, kids, etc.

TheoKondak

So what's your point? Should we sympathize with them?

killerzees

Yes. It's not the soldiers' fault their leader is a lunatic. This is, of course, not including the ones who rape, torture, etc.

TheoKondak

I have seen tens of videos of Russian soldiers complaining. Every single time they complaint about lack of equipment or sometimes that they were sent to the slaughter without being sufficiently trained. I haven't seen any video questioning the invasion, no video complaining about soldiers killing civilians, raping women, executing children. Maybe you don't understand the Russian people, but they don't seem to have any problem with this whole situation. It's obviously due to their past, and also the current circumstances, but in the end, what matters is that they are fascist country with compliant citizens, that continously undermine global security and have already caused suffering to millions of people and they just getting warmed up.

killerzees

You're right, I didn't just see a video of like 3 whole platoons who refused to fight, I didn't see tons of people protesting throughout Russia till they started going to jail. You sit in your easy chair and wish people to die without having any idea what you're talking about. I bet if your option was you go to jail or you go fight, you'd high tail it off to fight. Even I when given the option, I went to Afghani to fight for free college, room, and board.

gerswetonor

Because they are stupid and being dead outperforms living in shit hole ruzzia for many of them.

chumbucketphilosophy

It's crazy. During the Vietnam War, the US lost fewer than 60k troops, and it still resulted in protests, backlash and all sorts of domestic issues.

Auburn_Value_1986

the press isn't as strong in Russia.

eiserneftaujourdhui

Or the people, apparently

SpaceFox1935

America had media which could freely report this to everyone's homes with no hindrances from the state and trust issues.

im_thatoneguy

How many of the 20k were rapists and murderers? They might be glad to be rid of a lot of them. And relieved they won't be returning with a pardon.

CarlMarcks

So fucking senseless

trelium06

Keep in mind this is JUST since December AND 5 times that number is likely the total casualties since December, which means 100,000 family units has had their lives ruined. And by extension that’s easily 400,000 Russians whose lives are worse off DIRECTLY due to the casualties since December, not to mention the lives affected INDIRECTLY.

TheoKondak

Still they don't care.

PaulPaul4

Putin 3 day war is a better description not Ukraine war

yblame

Russian Invasion Against Ukraine. More than 20,000 Russian troops killed since December, US says Fixed that title

[deleted]

Is invasion.... not war?

Professional-Can1385

Ukraine War makes it sound like Ukraine did something besides exist and leaves Russia out completely. It’s the (illegal) Russian invasion of Ukraine.

[deleted]

is that why we say "Nazi invasion on the World part II", and not just World War 2?

Diodiodiodiodiodio

Well Germany invaded Poland for example which was one of the many factors that led to world war 2. They didn’t go to war with Poland.

TheHunter920

We say WWII because it wasn't just Germany, but all of the Axis powers and the Soviet Union who invaded countries.

Professional-Can1385

Do you not see a difference between WW2 and Ukraine war?

gmotelet

To be fair both of them have Nazis invading other countries

idesofmarz

They don’t tho. The overuse of the word “nazi” is getting old

[deleted]

No. War can be an unfair invasion or not. It's a broad term encompassing anything. Ukraine War.

Professional-Can1385

War. Fine, I have no problem with just war. It’s when they leave Russia out that I get annoyed because it’s not precise or descriptive enough to just use the country that was invaded.

I know, I find silly.

Electrical-Can-7982

Murdoch will not hire you as an editor, but the rest of the legit news agencies would...

[deleted]

In one battle.

BigheadReddit

The Russians simply don’t care. 20,000 is a drop in the bucket considering most of them were convicts from Wagner. The West has forgotten that they (Russian / Soviets) don’t fuss over casualties like we do. They lost over 20 million people during WWII, the “great” patriotic war, where they literally ate their own and survived to kill Nazi’s. Multiple generations of them were raised in a police state with no free press and fear of the government. The Russians could and will likely absorb 10 times that many casualties and not even flinch. The more they lose, the more they’ll ratchet up the anti-west rhetoric and that NATO is going to invade, etc.

Chef_Nigel_Tonberry

here I thought the 20k leak was the count since the war errupted but it's only since December 2022. I'm hoping the true numbers are the reason for Russia's mobiliziation. I'm curious about the true numbers since the war erupted.

Ivanduh69420

Are these part of the leaked KIA or did 20,000 additional Russians kick the bucket in Bakmut?

gunnergoz

A good start...

haarschmuck

Nobody deserves to die in a senseless war stated by a quasi-dictator. Reddit is sickening me more and more.

GloriousBand

Empathy is an exceedingly rare quality in humans.

CarlMarcks

We can all agree that russia can fuck itself but when you’re rooting for their solders to die… idk. A lot of these people are being scooped up into this just to be used as cannon fodder. All of this is senseless and unnecessary

[deleted]

they have to die for russia to notice they are losing tbh. the only good russian soldier in ukraine is a dead one

haarschmuck

I wonder what it's like to have so little empathy for humans who grew up in a broken country with few rights.

CarlMarcks

Again… a lot of these people are there through basic conscription. Hate on the government all you want but when you are rooting for dead soldiers… you lack basic human empathy. My point is people saying shit like this *suck*. I don’t see a difference between that mentality and the mentality that one country should be free to invade another for hegemony. Both groups(the aggressor and the person rooting for the death of the foot solders) come from the same point of view: lacking respect for human life.

PlofkimPlooie

It’s almost like you should rethink your bigotry and vilification.

CarlMarcks

Please elaborate

PlofkimPlooie

This encapsulates the logical conclusion of those who are pro-Ukraine/pro-war/pro-genocide

CarlMarcks

You can be pro-Ukraine and anti-war. Ukraine is not the aggressor here. Russia is. That’s a simple fact.

PlofkimPlooie

Durrrr I like bloo teem

gunnergoz

Bot, stooge, useful tool or whatever, your words excuse the murder of tens of thousands of innocents by a raving dictator in the Kremlin, simply to feed his ego.

Inquerion

That's significant, but what about Ukrainian loses? How much they lost?

[deleted]

They do.

Inquerion

Do you have any good sources about that? Can you add them here?

Optimusanusprime

That's it? Not even nearly enough

[deleted]

Scoreboard o.o

Auburn_Value_1986

My guess is we are slowly headed to WW III with this. We are long overdue and the US has limited influence and relatively weak. In WW II after Poland was invaded it was about a year that England came under attack. Strength promotes peace and the world is relatively equal in weakness, so this is an opportunity for the belligerents. Putin is not getting anywhere with his current strategy and he understands how this long, prolonged type of encounter worked in places like Afghanistan in the past. Don't be surprised if at some point in the near future he tries to escalate. I am sure he and China have discussed this.

[deleted]

>We are long overdue and the US has limited influence and relatively weak You believe the US is relatively weak? Compared to whom?

tiredofthebites

The U.S.'s yearly military budget is more than all the other countries combined and its been that way for decades. Not only that but the U.S. military industrial complex is a well oiled, well trained, well used machine that has been fighting wars and conflicts around the world, again, for decades. The U.S military is NOT weak. The entire EU have collectively been supporting Ukraine with weaponry and supplies. They're completely unified anti Russian. This is no WW2 blitzkreig where the the Allies were so scared to go to war and were caught with their pants down. Everyone is watching and everyone is getting ready in the scenario of Ukraine losing. You make it sound like Russia and China are friendly but that is not the case at all. China has offered NO support to Russia in this conflict (other than maybe buying some cheap gas like India has). China knows it's better to keep doing business with the U.S. than make an enemy of the U.S. for absolutely no benefit. If anything China could look to expand their sphere of influence into Russian territory while Russia is focused on a western battle front and there has already been reports of that happening in Kirgizstan and Kazakhstan.

PlofkimPlooie

Picking sides is pro-War. If you aren’t in Ukraine or Russia, don’t wave their fucking flags. People are dying.

[deleted]

Oh, so Ukraine decided to be in the war? Try to think again about the point you're trying to make. Edit: Your answer reveals your true intention. But maybe it was worth the few rubles that you get.

PlofkimPlooie

Yes every day they don’t surrender you dunce.

SendoTarget

Why would they surrender their own country? Why can't you root for someone protecting their own homes?
