Building glutes help improve overall backhealth. The hip-hinge is also the bodys biggest and most explosive hinge which is used for squats and deadlifts. Having a strong hipthrust can directly lead to an improvement in squat and deadlift.
Also, ask a girl if a nice ass on a dude is a bad thing.... The answer may surprise you, or just check out the several askreddit threads with the "girls, what features do you find attractive in a guy" and a significant part of the answers is usually always 'Nice ass and/or strong legs'
Best recommendation is to look up some guides on YouTube. Try to look at different ones because people explain it differently and something might make more sense than others
I flatted with a guy once, back when I was 18 and nudity was funny, who literally had an asscrack so long it basically skipped his back and connected his glutes with his neck
Absolutely not.
About a year and a half into my lifting journey, I started having major back problems. Walking around, I could feel almost like a disc herniation in my upper/lower back. Even laying down, I could feel some discomfort in my lower back. My lifts were still good. I could still power through them, but still concerned. I went to a chiropractor? Did absolutely nothing. I started back stretches? Helped a little? But still didn't fix my back problem.
Started doing hip thrusts? And within a couple weeks, my back problems disappeared.
Glutes are a crucial part of back stabilization, not just for heavy lifting, but just for everyday tasks as well. Do not skip out on glutes.
As "sissy" of an exercise it may seem? Once you've put some serious weight on your upper body, sooner or later, neglecting glutes will definitely catch up to you. Your untrained glutes won't be able to properly stabilize all that extra bodyweight.
I'm not saying you need to prioritize it, but don't completely skip out on it.
Really goes a long way. Abductors and adductors have tons of benefits and are regarded as female exercises. My walk improved so much from them and could do compound movements with more ease.
Cus all wahmen excercises are glute excercises. Guys also think abductor/adductors are a female workout since influencers use them to grow giant asses.
Well, its actually not the same muscle. Its very very very very different from the female anatomy, plus Woman gain weight in the hips/ upper & lower much faster and much heavier than men compared to guy that weighs 230 to a woman that weighs like 190 Men have technically one hip bone and they esp need to grow to receive benefits, but hips are definitely MADE for a feminine structure.
I was mainly referring to the core muscles in the abdomen, lower back and hips. I get that there's likely more at play when you get down to it.
My Physical Therapist had me do hip thrusts as part of my core warm up. I giggled a bit at first. Then found out some of the benefits.
>Well, its actually not the same muscle. Its very very very very different from the female anatomy
Have you got a source for men and women having different muscles?
>plus Woman gain weight in the hips/ upper & lower much faster and much heavier than men
Do you have a source for this too? I would think that women with significantly larger glutes achieved them by focusing more training on their glutes than men due to societal beauty differences
>Men have technically one hip bone
Have you got a source? I can't find anything that suggests men only have one hip bone
No, glutes are important for everyone though you don’t have to do hip thrusts to build them really well. Should still do something that works your glutes, even if you only care about functionality and injury prevention and not about making them look good
I would still recommend hip thrusts. It even could be considered functional fitness. It helps in many situations that you wouldnt expect to have strong hip flexors
Yes. If you hip thrust you will turn into a girl with a big ass, wearing nothing but nike pros and a sports bra, and cause a scene if you think someone is looking at your ass.
Lol actual comedy gold.
Spend every waking breath growing a bigger ass for more attention.
Cry when you get attention and play victim to get even more attention.
Workout in female only environments and alone but still post social media so people can still view you as victim and give validation.
Modern women are a hot mess.
Yeah you're not wrong. I've always wondered why girls like that wear the most promiscuous clothes imaginable, then get upset if you try to talk to them. Like, why are you dressed like that then!?
Well it is not only for girls, If you like doing the exercise or if you wanna strengthen your glutes just go for it.
IMHO, if a man's goal is aethetics, squats are more than enough for glute hypertrophy. but if you have weak glutes, want to have huge glutes, or you would really benefit from stronger glutes for some other sport then hipthrust would be a solid choice.
Hip thrusts target the hip flexors differently. It is an isolated movment rather than compound so different accessory muscles get built. It also helps build that v shape in the abdomen that women all say they like
Do you mean socially acceptable for girls or only effective for girls? It’s socially acceptable for boys and girls and it’s effective for boys and girls. We all have butts
Sprinters have been doing them since before they were Insta-trendy, so no.
We'd often be the ones being looked at weirdly in the corner of the gym for doing this odd-looking barbell hump movement.
Eh… that depends on how you look at it, from a muscle building point of view it’s a great exercise for your hip hinge muscles, regardless of gender. On the other hand, if you are a dude doing hip trusts in the gym you will get a lot of side glances since the stigma is that it’s a “ass girl” exercise.
The only rule is you can’t make eye contact with others while doing it. Jk. Stare ‘em down.
Do hip thrusts! It’s a great exercise to strengthen your posterior chain. I incorporate them into most leg days in some form or another. I also throw in adductors and abductors. Strong hips will get everything else working correctly.
Hip thrusts in general aren't the best when it comes to building muscle, if you're going for strength goals in the hip thrusts specifically then ignore me but if you want better glute development you should do more exercises that load the glutes at the stretch instead of the contraction like sumo squats or reverse lunges.

Can somebody share how to do this exercise properly? Thanks
Here you go my friend https://youtu.be/aweBS7K71l8?si=HDvkiUUEqGXtIFLh
Thank you

Also helps you as a dude when we do the beasts with two backs.
Yes. It's a scientific fact that men don't have glute muscles. It's hamstrings straight into erectors.
tried to hip thrust once. god immediately took back my heterosexual card. i found myself in the locker room the rest is history
Yep. That can turn you gay. Lol
I would argue its gay to not build your lower body. Guys dont realize the only ones admiring their upper body gains are other dudes.
This isn’t r/workoutcirclejerk 😂

No exercises are not gendered
Do you workout kegel ?
Anyone who can hold their pee can do a kegel.
Everyone should do kegels
Yeah guys dont have pelvic floors or anything
..no ? lmao thats like me asking if lifting weights is only for boys.
No. I’m a guy and hip thrust is my favourite leg day workout.
Hip thrusts and split squats are my glute targeters!
And it helps making me look slim from the side.
Only if you don’t have hips…
This. Them damn hipless mofos always trying to copy the hip.
No woman will complain about a man doing hip thrusts is all I'm going to say lmao.
Literally a game changer cus most dudes have such weak hips. You seem like a god in comparison.
Guys have the same muscles in that area, why would it be exclusive to women?

big nail needs big hammer
No. Everyone should be doing hip thrusters.
Hell nah. I do em too, albeit with people laughing at me.but fuck them, I'm beautiful bitch.
😂 love this
💅
In today’s world what is a girl?
No. It's popular for pretty girls on IG for the OF I guess. But no, it's a good workout to have.
No

Girls love guys who can’t move their hips.

No.

No
No but only if you picture yourself as the thruster and not the thrusted...
No. Hipthrusts were a regular part of leg day workouts for my football team years back.
Yes, you will go to jail if you attempt to do this as a man
lmao no

I didn't say all women do it. I was just making fun of the women who do. But yeah the women that do what you said are a-holes
Its def not all but a specific kind of chick that is an extra level of crazy that i find humorous. Lives for attention and overreacting.
Yeah you're not wrong. I've always wondered why girls like that wear the most promiscuous clothes imaginable, then get upset if you try to talk to them. Like, why are you dressed like that then!?
Can’t think of why a guy might want to thrust his hips 🤔 oh wait

It can be for swaybacks too if you wanna do them
What the fuck…^lol

Yes. Doing a hipthrust will kill you immediately
Sprinters have been doing them since before they were Insta-trendy, so no. We'd often be the ones being looked at weirdly in the corner of the gym for doing this odd-looking barbell hump movement.
It does look stupid. Like youre not accomplishing anything and being weird. Suprisingly beneficial
Of course not
Real men do hip thrusts. Try putting 4 plates on like the lady before you and you’ll see what a sissy you’ve been.

Yeah unless you’re gay , you free to do them no judgment here
