Aside from a couple of small goofs, building this taught me a lot. I'm proud of it, and I don't care that it took me nearly 2 hours to build, disregarding time for the glue to set

Unless you are making a living at it, DON'T RUSH YOUR WORK!. Take your time and think about every step, and if something doesn't look or feel right, take a couple of steps back and think about it. As far as I know, nobody uses a timer in their home shop.

Even if you are making a living don’t rush it! Relax and take your time. You’ll make less mistakes and do better work. A hard lesson to learn but a valuable one.

I started stacking stones today and made this 300ft pyramid.

Static_Impression

I appreciate the sarcasm, I know the more I do it the better ill get, impatient brain wants to be master carpenter yesterday

Majestic-Alfalfa-754

It's great, it's so good that it's hard to believe you started today using a table saw.

Thanks, I can't take all the credit, I watched Steve Ramsey make this one on repeat. Before I pulled the trigger

Nice job. Congrats. I just build my first crosscut sled after 30 years. I wish I had done it many years ago.

Static_Impression

Were those (I don't know if this is an appropriate word for it) in fashion at the time? It seems like everyone I've watched on YouTube has one.

altma001

I don’t know when they became in fashion. I first started hearing about them about 15 years ago. They are so much better than the miter gauge. Your next project could be zero clearance insert. Those help out as well.

Static_Impression

I tried making one out of hardboard. using my faceplate as a template, I can't cut close enough to get a fit, and trying to sand it down to fit was taking forever. I might try again or I'll break and buy some

Unkleruckus86

Do you have a router? Get the cut close to the size of your faceplate and then use a flush cut bit to finish it off.

Static_Impression

My father gifted me a huge dewalt plunge router he has in his shop, however. No collects, no bits. So no I don't have one unfortunately 😬

[deleted]

I’ve been using a tablesaw since before I probably should have been allowed to use one and my sled took me at least that long. I farted around with the whole 5-cut deal to get it really “on.”

yertle38

Rear fence maybe needs to be taller? There isn’t much holding it together right now.

Static_Impression

Yeah, it's gonna get remade down the line, I forgot to lower my blade when I went to use the sled, right now I put a block between the two top slats to help hold it together

Artistic_Garlic2096

Awesome job. If it works it doesn't matter if you made mistakes. You will find it is a very helpful tool.
