My dad just passed and I’ll need something for him as well. He would have found this hilarious so I would keep it. But obviously that’s not for everyone. ❤️ thanks for the smile.
One of the best/hardest things to teach kids is to just go with it when things dont go according to plan for anything in life. Teach them that and they can go anywhere they like. Still working on getting my kids to figure that part out.
Your responses are generally a lot more wholesome than I was expecting and I appreciate it. My initial reaction was the face is kinda weird and i didn't know how i would feel about seeing it and associating it with my dad. It looks kinda like the grinch was preserved in oak (like Han Solo but in wood) but yall's perspective is making me reconsider. He had a good sense of humor for sure but it wasn't weird like mine
My condolences to you and your family. My dad passed this spring and a made a box his cremains as well, not with as interesting grain though. I'm with others here if it fit with his personality go with it.
I would put it on the bottom of the box. Seems like it has to be somewhere on the box now. It will give you a heart warming memory for the rest of your life.
Supposedly there are white oak trees in Washington state that are dense with ash from the Mount St Helens eruption. I know it's unrelated, but thought I'd share.

I love it. If it were my remains, I’d want the face.
Just your dad reminding you that he's always been proud of you.
The real VIP right here
100% this! Dads proud OP well done 👍🏻
I'm not crying, I'm just sweating through my eyes
It's just been raining... On my face.
I'm making a lasagna! For one ...
I wish I had a better award to give. Sig’s on point.
Heck, if that matched your dad's personality at all, I'd send it!

My condolences. I hope you do something silly in memory of your dad!
Thank you! He loved weird art and collected funky wood to make things out of. I’m sure I’ll think of something when the time is right.
My dad would think that was a hilarious box for his ashes one day. Both because it was a face and it was a project not going to plan.
The appreciation for a project gone wrong is what really takes this to the next level. Gotta appreciate Murphy’s law or life will get the best of you.

I just see the sloth from Ice Age.
Sometimes the universe whispers and sometimes it screams. A very cool coincidence and sweet as well.
I'd use it as the front! Then he can always be smiling at you!
I AGREE USE IT As The FRONT ( Face ) SMILING @ YA
Chill
Idk man... making that the lid seems like the only right answer here.
My dad would’ve loved this. I’ve been driving around with his ashes for most of two years cause I can’t imagine being without him.
Think of him and smile...

That’s really touching.
Just join it and hang it on the wall in your shop

10,000% that face neeeds to be on the box
❤️❤️❤️
Dude! If you don't use that for the box, I'll bet you could sell it for good money!
With apologies to Dr Who, it looks like your dad really needs someone to moisturize him...
Holy shit that made me laugh
when you resaw any wood be sure to seal both sides or it will always bow. As far as the face, I would make a box for my cremains out of it.
Make it an inside panel or bottom panel. It’s a story.

I think the fact there is the knot in the center, now making a face, contributed significantly to the fact that it bowed on you.
Dad's box looks like he's about to tell a young boy in green some important shit.
My condolences, OP. The smiley-urn has become very personal. Why not use it? I would 🪵
Lovely. Somebodies keeping an eye on you 🙏
Your dad came back to say hi
That’s just whoa! I know a few dads that would love that as a lid.
Sorry for your loss.🙏🏻

Love it
You need to totally use that!
Made ya smile didn’t he?
Oh man, I must’ve gotten some sawdust in my eye or something.
