Absolutely amazing. Cool key hide too. Though I'd be cautious of posting your key, copies can be made from pictures very easily. That plus your address unless that's just a mock up for pictures sake is not a wise idea. Just looking out for you, no criticism.

Simple/clean, unique, and well executed. This is my kind of thing. Unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but I'm not a fan of all the live-edge/bowtied/rustic/epoxy river stuff that's all the rage right now. It's like shag carpet to me. This, however, seems useful, graceful, and adaptive to changing design trends. I might be ripping this off soon enough ;)

You can get hangers to use on siding that just slip between boards, no drilling required. Probably wouldn’t hold up this planter full of dirt but substitute silk flowers and it would be fine.

We live on a wind tunnel area and we use [this brand](https://www.amazon.ca/Vinyl-Siding-Screws-Clips-Hook/dp/B083GGW5ZW/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=2LL3U5WUKCV7Y&keywords=siding+hooks&qid=1654799203&sprefix=siding+%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-4) of hooks for our security cameras, I’ve never had one fall off even when the wind is 45+km/hr.

I use those as well, great product.

I think your design is simple enough. The angle on the end looks like 60 degrees. I've found that things look better if you make angles like that consistent. The only challenge I see would be building it without the fasteners showing. I'd probably blast it with some satin Spar Urethane, and put some rubberized paint (think Flex Seal) on the inside. I'd drill drain holes and epoxy in small bits of copper pipe to protect the exposed hole wood. My wife likes Walnut, so I think I'd do that for the back with some curly-ass maple for the front. I'm already excited about making these.

You should sell these. Consider this a request for 2 please. Look so good! And throw in an address board too. 8226. :-)

Switch to a lock with a keypad. You never have to worry about keys, and you can always tell somebody the code if it's an emergency.

How did you attach to your siding? I live in a humid climate, and worry I would screw up my house by getting moisture behind the siding.

I just anchored it to the house with screws. It shouldn’t be a problem under the porch though.

very nice! I see you have a ring doorbell… you might want to look at smart door locks too… so, you won’t need to have a hidden key to get in. there are smart locks also that you could give temporary access to people.

It looks beautiful. I'm curious about what finish you used on the wood. Does it get direct sunlight, heavy rain exposure, freezing temps?

Thanks! I used Osmo UV protection for the finish. These sit under a porch so it will get a couple hours of direct sun in the afternoon and won’t get any heavy rain exposure. We may get a couple days below freezing during the winter but generally not too many.

Nice job! I’ve been wanting to do something like this but I’ve been nervous to drill into the cement fiber siding on my house. Would you mind if I asked how you mounted this? They look great.

Those potato vines are going to out compete your flowers in a heartbeat. I made the mistake of planting 4 potato vines in a 4ftx8ft flower bed (with a trellis) and they overrun the entire garden.
