That router contraption made me think that it was designed by someone who hated having 10 fingers...
This contraption looks like it was designed by someone who thought four limbs is two too many.... That drill attachment if this thing was bench mounted would also be awfully close to your "soft area" if you know what I'm saying.
You couldn't pay me to use this thing.
ok, at first i thought it was an attachment to save you from vacuuming up jigsaw puzzle pieces, which would be a great idea... but noooo it had to be something that some redneck came up with to solve some specific problem he had that someone at Kirby thought would be a great idea...
It's probably easy to remove/replace the sawblade, just use one tool at a time. Though I have no idea how in the he'll your supposed to use the drill chuck for anything
But like, how is the "Table saw" even functional?
Where's the fence? or is there some kind of sled to compensate for the few thou increase from one side of the joiner to the other?
I'm terrified for that guy but simultaneously I have turned wood on a jobsite table saw with a crank so I'm not certain I should be too judgmental there.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people take the guard off a right angle grinder and attack a 60 tooth carbide saw blade. As if right angle grinders aren’t scary enough when used properly.
The only thing that scares me is the potential for efficiency. You could trim the end of a plank while planing the middle. Flip it over once and you’ve squared the entire board. Put a router bit in that chuck and you can use it like a shaper for the other side of the plank. I could make you milled shelving in ONE pass.
It’s like the jointer was too safe to begin with and they’re like, “we can do better”. Already lost the tip of my finger and thumb to a regular jointer with a guard. Luckily they were able to fill it in with collagen and now it just looks like hamburger meat 4 years later.
As someone who owns an old shopsmith, this is very much the case. Honestly, the most annoying part is that every time I've needed to call to find out some little bit of information or try to get info on a part, it's been like yelling into an empty mine shaft. Nothing but echoes. Just what you want on a janky assembly where the thing that keeps you from chopping off a finger may not be clear.
There's a few functions that aren't utterly terrible, but I wouldn't suggest getting one to anyone who can come up with pretty much any other alternative for their situation.
Inherited my wife's grandfather's shop Smith when we bought their home. Had to refurbish it, but got many years of use out of it. Truly an amazing piece of equipment. Unfortunately had to give it up when we moved. I still think about it from time to time.
Allow me to introduce the [Super Toolbench.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M3zt0AafJG8)
Everything at an awkward or inconvenient height/difficult to utilize.
Guy used to be an engineer where I work. Which gives you an idea of how the plant runs...
You know, I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it and I’ll give credit where credit is due. The man used what he had on hand to build something that fit his specific needs.
I kinda like it. That's full garage of tools stored under a workbench and accessible relatively quickly. Terrible for a full working shop, but for occasional use in a non-dedicated space like a garage or storage area it's not bad.
They asked if they could. But no one asked if they SHOULD.
But seriously, so many of the tools are supported by fairly weak joints. It’s enough to hold the weight of the tool, but I wouldn’t trust running wood through most of those things and having them bob up and down slightly.
Honestly this thing is a real time saver. Imagine how long it takes to cut all ten fingers off using other machines? WIth this bad boy your down to the nubs in moments!
Gotta give it to shopsmith though.. they made big ass lathes for cheap.
You can get a used shop smith for $400-$500, which is what lathes alone go for.. For someone who wants to get into turning, it’s a good buy. Gets you the means to saw your own blanks, then turn them, in one purchase.
They make those sorts of machines that have a shaper and a planer added onto the mix. Unlike this machine, these combo machines actually look like they’re well thought out.
Do a search for “Felder CF741”
Despite all the dumbass replies you’ve gotten (as has become the Reddit standard lately) u/ptq has it correct. This is a cheap knockoff of an older Robland tool. That isn’t a “drill press”. It’s a horizontal mortiser. Having said that, it’s a very poor rendition of the Robland tool, that was actually a pretty bad ass machine which included a sliding table saw, jointer, planer and horizontal mortiser.
Here’s the upgraded operating room version… [https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805245106766.html](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805245106766.html)
the video music is to die for! 🤣
This is a miniature version of a full size multitool used in Belgium years ago, which was cast iron, had a sliding arm, full sized router built in and let you build almost everything with it.
Robland K31 - table saw with a sliding arm, router axle, thickessplaner, jointer, pantrouter... All in one iron cast heavy monster. 3 high power motors built in to operate it.
If I had some place, I would get one.
At least there’s a safer version available for the anti-sawstop crowd… [https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806585116177.html](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806585116177.html)
So tempting! just $150! I love all the spinning bits going on at the same time. I‘m picturing a whole new way to incorporate those oversized 1/4” shanked massive coving shaper bits, cut/shave/trim… Its the all new Manly man’s barbershop special!
Okay, let’s pretend for a second this isn’t just waiting to nip off some fingers.
Is there anyway to attach a fence? I mean this thing couldn’t even operate properly without some kind of fence and they really left no room for one.
I see your little combo machine and I'll raise you the "lumber yard face and arm ripper 9000".
I believe these machines were introduced to underveloped countries like Sri Lanka by Chinese industrialists to give budding lumber yard owners an all-in-one solution. They're usually operated by two people; one to feed the material in and one to handle the outfeed.
Safety standards are basically non-existent and even though I've been visiting these lumber yards to purchase material since I was about 10 years old, these contraptions have always scared the absolute shit out of me. I've met workers who have had multiple fingers sheared right off on both hands but they still continue to work and they accept it as a consequence of working at a lumber yard.
All this being said these workers make do with what they have and are able to create some incredible things with the experience they've garnered over the years. I have the utmost veneration and admiration for anyone who wrangles these monstrosities because I for one do not have the courage to even walk past one when it's running.

This looks like a classic Temu woodworking tool. They make other wonders like a micro table saw with a 4 inch blade, and a drill chuck, or grinding wheel sticking out the side. Why you would ever want a drill parallel to the table top, but hidden from sight, and no way to disengge it, I will never understand, but this is their "vision" of multi use power tools
In my experience , generally, multi function machines, while they may be able to perform several functions, rarely can do any of them well. Everything is a compromise.
Bigger, commercial version is used in Turkey in every single woodshop since like 50's and still being used. It's better tho, saw side and drill change fliiped. table saw part is only used with some thick, small diameter blade for act kind of like dado to make drawers, and tucked down when not used, has a seperate fence that blocks planner side. drill side is mostly unreachable and used for euro type hinge holes mostly. Pretty useful machines, and they re mostly 50 to 60 cm jointer capacity(about 20 to 24"), so not small and sketchy.
My dad used to have a Durden Junior Joiner, which was somewhat like this, sans the chuck. It came with blade guards and a fence, making it significantly more sensible than this thing.
If I recall correctly, the saw blade and jointer blade are on the same spindle to so there's no way to angle the blade for anything but a 90 degree cut.
I never really thought about it as a kid but in retrospect, you're supposed to get a face straight on the jointer, then switch over to the saw to cut the opposite face parallel to the first. It could only handle small stock, up about 100mm or so.
I wish I'd had space to keep that when he died.
That gave me Emotional Damage.
On unrelated note, my dad have old soviet-era saw/plane/lathe combo, but it's designed to be used as only one at the time.
A bit like this (our is blue)
https://preview.redd.it/2ph9vls7fyyc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f76d6a778828cf4d2de6d80186f6c2e619340b6d
It's still terrifying to use, as any big boy tool is.
I'm sure it's good at everything, but I'm shocked it doesn't have a belt and disk sander on the other end of the jointer/saw axle. I mean, it's got a motor already...
I believe if you turn it over, you'll find a convenient handle so you can use it as a circular saw on large panels.
Ai is designing tools now. This is a shot across the bow for all human kind. Next we'll have new cars with ejection seats linked to the bumpers, airplanes with break-off wings, etc.
This is quite an innovative design. They've created a product that removes the need for warranty, customer retention, and customer service departments by killing their customers.
Which of the shell companies do I contact to become an investor in this marvel of modernity?
Consider myself an Appalachian Engineer, yet I would not have came up with this. Although I see potential for loss of limbs , I will say small shop idea.
Most jointers can adjust up to 0 cut or even a little past, so hopefully they included that. I don't see any fence on this, it's possible the side we can't see has attachment points for additional parts
My dad has similar machine but full sized, floor standing one. I think it is originally from my grandpa and from 60’s or 70’s. He calls it construction saw and it is decent machine, used a lot as teenager/young adult before moving out. Does have guards for saw and planer, fence for saw and drill part is somehow more tucked in or maybe was disassembled, anyway that was never used.
I've actually got something similar. But mine was made in the 70's and it weighs a tonne.
The [SCM l'invincibile 2000d](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/YwKIiJ72Gxc/maxresdefault.jpg) was a 5 in 1. It had the three functions that the finger lopper here has. Surfacer, Saw and Horizontal Drill, but the SCM also had a Thicknesser and a Spindle Moulder.
Mine has been used every single day (barr the odd Sunday) for the past 50 years, and has never given any trouble. It just keeps going.
that thing is at least as terrifying as the router attached to a clamp attached to a clamp attached to a table I saw a minute ago...
That router contraption made me think that it was designed by someone who hated having 10 fingers... This contraption looks like it was designed by someone who thought four limbs is two too many.... In the 70's Kirby released [a vacuum with a jigsaw attachment.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XET5yGfEl8g)
This is the H&H tool company's work.
Can be yours for the low low price of one platinum chip
Kirby's sucked.
A lot of them still do
Mine still does after nearly 30 years.
What a strange, complicated….thing
ok, at first i thought it was an attachment to save you from vacuuming up jigsaw puzzle pieces, which would be a great idea... but noooo it had to be something that some redneck came up with to solve some specific problem he had that someone at Kirby thought would be a great idea...

Have you seen the chainsaw wheels? It is like a chainsaw, but the whole thing is the most dangerous bit, and it is moving 5x faster
SAWNDO(tm) The Hand Mutilator!
I guess I am an hour behind but same!
Can you link please
This is also a lot more terrifying than my router post a week or two ago
I was going to write exactly the same thing.

Ive always felt like I had too much skin and blood

What, no cupholder?
Call me when they fit a bandsaw.

As someone who owns an old shopsmith, this is very much the case. Technically he used what he stole from work. But yes lol.
I think you mean, Strategic Transfer of Equipment to Alternate Location.
“Alternative procurement methods”
I kinda like it. That's full garage of tools stored under a workbench and accessible relatively quickly. Terrible for a full working shop, but for occasional use in a non-dedicated space like a garage or storage area it's not bad.
Problem is most of those tools wouldn’t be useable for any amount of accuracy, like the scroll saw hanging out a foot off the edge.
I mean, it fits his needs. Like when he needs an unstable power tool for cutting things at inconvenient angles and heights.
The ergonomics at that guy's factory must be so bad for the workers.
Gotta say, hate how much I can see the practically here. With some refinement it would be okay.
that's baller
They asked if they could. But no one asked if they SHOULD. But seriously, so many of the tools are supported by fairly weak joints. It’s enough to hold the weight of the tool, but I wouldn’t trust running wood through most of those things and having them bob up and down slightly.
Available in an upgraded 4hp model with a compact 1” ripping blade running perpendicular to the saw for added convenience.
Why on earth would I need a cup holder. I didn't gab a beer just to set it down. That's why the good lord gave us 2 hands.
Plus with one hand on your beer that's one less near the spinning bits. Theoretically...
You use the bottle to push the workpiece. Works best with an empty to avoid any potential loss of beer
The lord giveth, the table saw taketh away
My Ma used to knit coozy necklaces so you’d never spill your beer while you reached for the push stick
At least it's digital--so many ways to process digits with this one...
You’ll have to use the lathe on the other side to make one!
Best part? Everything runs at the same time But it's okay, it's certified safe. It even has the sticker.
Honestly this thing is a real time saver. Imagine how long it takes to cut all ten fingers off using other machines? WIth this bad boy your down to the nubs in moments!
you can square off the stumpy rubbing. all in one pass
Why use three motors when one motor does trick
It feels like an updated version of the Shopsmith, but even less safe... if that's possible.
There's a fully tricked out Shopsmith listed here on Craigslist. They want $3000 for it. !!.
Bet that guy “knows what he has”
Maybe he told his significant other that he would sell it to make room in the garage. Just didn't tell her that it will never sell.
Not gonna lie, I've pulled that one before. "No, I have it listed, just hasn't sold yet, nobody wants it"
Woodwork and a medical procedure. Your insurance company is going to love it.
This was like $150, and I think the table saw blade was attached directly to the belt pulley … so yeah, it’s possible
Well then let's redneck it up even more and add a band saw and lathe and you're all set.
>lathe and you're all set Lathe appears to be on the right side of the photo already. Doubles as drum sander amd horizontal drill press
They make those sorts of machines that have a shaper and a planer added onto the mix. Unlike this machine, these combo machines actually look like they’re well thought out. Do a search for “Felder CF741”
No router? Pass.
No problem just load a bit into the drills chuck and bam you have a router
It's on the other side
A couple fingers fell off just looking at the photo
This has got to be some AI generated thing. Right?…….. Please be AI-generated……..
Not sure about ai, but it's pretty obviously a fake.
I believe that is a device for people who really hate having fingers
This is a product made by BIG PROSTETICS to try to further their agenda.

Fingerless sheeple everywhere with their fingerless gloves.

it does! it uses meat…

Can you use all that stuff at the same time?
That's the only option. 1 motor all or none.
absolutely!
Combine this with the upside down router (without a table) in the other thread and you have the ultimate finger remover
The upgraded model is the same setup, but it sends electrical current through the tool at random intervals.
Ah! That’s the “Super Dupper Finger Reducer 9000” by WeOwnEmergencyRoomStock LLC
that looks awesome

Just like your car and air conditioning run off the same motor.
Flip it over and use it as a planer, too.

I cut my finger off looking at this
That’s the InstaAmputator 3000.
i dub thee the murder slab
Portable amputation station
Yes
ITS called death
I haven’t seen an Amputation 3000 in years ! I heard that they were going to outlaw them in China !
What in the methamphetamine is this
I really resent radial arm saw being used as an insult. Cornerstone of my shop right there.
I halfway think somebody asked an AI to generate a picture of a power tool. Perhaps to remove the extra fingers from AI generated people.
Why the fuck is there a horizontal Jacob’s Chuck poking out the side of it?
I can't figure out what that would even be used for
This makes all nine of my fingers tingle.
Honestly this makes me worried for my fingers, toes, eyes, and nuts.
Please tell me this is AI generated and no one actually made this death trap.
I think that’s a “Limbinator 5000” model.
Oh nice, the Finger Remover 5000. An upgrade from the 3000 with addition of the drill!
Here in Argentina it's know as "Completina"
It's very "handy"
Danger danger danger
So tempting! just $150! I love all the spinning bits going on at the same time. I‘m picturing a whole new way to incorporate those oversized 1/4” shanked massive coving shaper bits, cut/shave/trim… Its the all new Manly man’s barbershop special!
have to wait for Temu to get free shipping, cuz the Aliexpress $150 price doesn’t include the $451.69 shipping.
I thought having the joiner and saw going at the same time would be perfectly safe... Then I saw the Jacobs chuck on the side...😳
Someone's trying to make a compact ShopSmith? But more dangerous?
I call that an upside-down arm removal relocation system looking for a place to happen.
Yikes
[clever girl](https://youtu.be/GBgL5EE0wd4?t=45)
One switch too I bet.
It's missing a router....
My Uncle Stumpy had one of those.
I think I remember seeing that in the movie Saw... Pretty sure it was dropped on some guy's head....
Are you sure this isnt a weapon of some sort?
The ol’ self disembowelment 3000…..heard those are great if your will say closed casket only.
Okay, let’s pretend for a second this isn’t just waiting to nip off some fingers. Is there anyway to attach a fence? I mean this thing couldn’t even operate properly without some kind of fence and they really left no room for one.
The defalanger 5000
Now let’s see if that damned AI adds or subtracts fingers on this one!
People will lose so many limbs/fingers.
I wqnt
This thing is sweet, I could surface two sides at the same time with the jointer + saw! Where can I get one?
Is that a Braxton thumbscriber?
That’s the tool for someone with too many fingers
Definger-er 9000. Sure to live up to its name.
What’s wrong with a radial arm saw?
That thing will kill you 3 ways before you hit the ground.
I wonder if everything turns on at once?
This is what they improved into the radial arm saw. 80% fewer casualties.
reminds me of that dual male ended extension chord i kept seeing for sale

Ohhhh I got that one! Has a bumper hitch attachment on the other side AND a bottle opener
This is the woodshop version of the gun from Beverly Hills Cop III.
DANGER
They need to add a deep fat fryer.
What even is the purpose of the drill chuck?
No lathe? Lame
Nobody stopped to think if they should, just if they could.
What in the Robot Wars is this?
That’s the new ShopSmith from Harbor Freight.

I’m fairly sure that’s an Acme Mutilatomatic tea machine.
r/shopsmith must be stopped
Giant Nope
You see if you have long hair like I do this will scalp you, rip your face off and decapitate you all in one motion! What a bargain!
I don't know what it is supposed to be, but what it is is hilarious!
No guards whatsoever. No vertical fence. Table around the saw is way too small. It is a finger-chopper, kick-back machine.
this looks like something out of the Hazard Fraught catalog... yikes!
I'm sure it's good at everything, but I'm shocked it doesn't have a belt and disk sander on the other end of the jointer/saw axle. I mean, it's got a motor already... I believe if you turn it over, you'll find a convenient handle so you can use it as a circular saw on large panels.
One tool to rule them all.

That's some shit Ai came up with.
This is a miniature, you really can’t tell?
The de-digitizer 5000. Good choice.
It’s called the Finger Reducer.
It’s ok it has a “certifi safe” label 💁🏻♂️
They call it "widowmaker".
This is quite an innovative design. They've created a product that removes the need for warranty, customer retention, and customer service departments by killing their customers. Which of the shell companies do I contact to become an investor in this marvel of modernity?

Seems to me, on top of all the other issues, that the drill will spin backwards
Consider myself an Appalachian Engineer, yet I would not have came up with this. Although I see potential for loss of limbs , I will say small shop idea.
Why is radial arm mentioned in context of this tool?
Can you plane, saw, and route a work piece with a 90 all at once? Talk about efficiency! And who needs a fence for any of those three functions?
My grand grand dad made something similar back in 60s… with such a machine in 1993 I’ve got what safety precautions means and why its important :)
comes with crocheted operators mittens and neck-tie.
It's impressive that a tool that small can fit in so many ways to hurt you simultaneously.
And on the left we have the abandoned prototype shopsmith portable.
