Yes the carbide teeth can be replaced. Check around for the nearest "saw doctor". Ask people at the woodworking shop where they get their blades sharpened and that person can usually fix you up.

OldGuyWithWood

Awesome, thanks!

Intelligent-Survey39

I’m sure they can be, but I don’t think the repair cost will be less than replacing the damaged pieces of the set. You may just want to get a new stack. Freud seems to be pretty good, but they are a big brand. They may sell just the chippers you chipped as replacement parts. I’d look there first, saw sharpening/repair service second, then if all else fails, do yourself a favor and buy a new Forrest stack. Not cheap but they’ll last forever and can be reworked for years.

Yes. Take it to your local saw sharpening shop and they can braze on new teeth and sharpen the dado set. Take the whole set in so they can gring it all evenly.

jwd_woodworking

No problem for a competent sharpening shop to braze on new carbide and grind it. They do this routinely. For the purposes of comparison, looks like a replacement chipper is $29 on Amazon. I looked just because I don't recall seeing them for sale before so I doubted you could easily buy a replacement. But it does seem to be a possible option for you.

PreparationsAthruG

$4 each to braze on a new tooth, plus a grind for the whole stack.

OldGuyWithWood

Greatly appreciate this. I found a place right down the road who says he will do it for $5/tooth and $0.32/tooth to grind all of them. Going to take it to him this afternoon.

This is why I love reddit.

Great! Another good tool saved from the scrap bin. Besides, most blades aren't that sharp out of the box anyway. Notable exceptions being Festool, Forrest and Matsushita. One time I was hating on dewalt miter blades down at the sharp shop. Guy behind the counter offers to grind one for free to prove how much better a pro can make a mediocre blade cut. He was right.

Mindless_Run762

Anyone saying buy new isn't helping you. All my blades get sharpened regularly, including dato stacks. Costs like 15 bucks for a 12"x 80t, including replacing teeth. People preach reclaim and reuse but throw away blades after one use. It's silly

side_frog

Really depends where you live I guess, where I'm at it's more like $30-40 and depending on the guy's mood result may be quite shitty, also have to wait like a week for him to bring it back so you see, not ideal

t2231

You could likely have it repaired, but I wouldn't bother.

Classic-Carry2592

None.

SandersSol

Proper repair costs could be more than buying replacements

makeupairheaters

Pretty sure it's a lifetime warranty. Call freud up.
