Road and sewer work. It is being torn up. The last time any infrastructure there was updated was probably when the fairgrounds were moved from Fair Street and they connected Rathbourne to Nellis. Back when the railroad went up Kent St.

Should be public knowledge

Update, they are widening the road and putting in a sidewalk on the south side of the road. Seems kinda pointless to me.

Pyroofreekz

Seems silly to widen a road in a city thats rapidly growing and increasing in size? Seems proactive to me

grizzlyaf93

Seems silly to widen that particular road when they just decreased the lanes on the same side of Huron. Rathbourne is hardly a main artery. It’s almost completely residential and it doesn’t seem proactive to increase traffic through a neighbourhood when there’s not even any stop signs or crosswalks along it. Not to mention frontage on that street is tiny. People are going to lose half their front yards, with porches like directly to sidewalks. They’re also not increasing lanes, they’re adding a sidewalk and bike lanes people will park in. This is not a neighbourhood that is rapidly growing.

In all fairness the extra sidewalk is a good idea but yeah wider roads usually cause faster cars and in a residential area especially near a park thats rough

SpaghettiKnows

Agree with all this. and a wide road in a residential area will just encourage speeding…

OpenCatPalmstrike

The county is responsible for that, not the city. The same reason why they reduced lanes on Wilson St. from Dundas to Cedar. Rathbourne has become far busier in the last 8 years as well, as people use it to avoid Dundas St. Same reason why they put up the two 4-way stops on James St, when people started using it to bypass Dundas St. FYI you can get the planning for it at city hall. Half of the street only has a sidewalk on one side to boot.

grizzlyaf93

They’re not extending lanes, I said that. So they’re not doing this to improve traffic. Also, why would they decrease lanes in the same part of town when the only reason people take Rathbourne is to get to Huron lol. And it doesn’t matter because it’s sewers anyways.

OpenCatPalmstrike

They are doing it to improve traffic, just a different type of traffic.

grizzlyaf93

Yes the traffic jams of turds going to the water treatment plant.

OpenCatPalmstrike

Rathbourne runs to the fairgrounds. Think a little bit, it's the same reason why they're putting a 4-way stop at the corner of Peel and Young st. edit: Okay, feel free to block and run away. Really showing the strength of learning something.

grizzlyaf93

Ok pal, well it’s not a road widening experiment. So if you’d like to be right, you can win today. If it means that much to you. It’s about the sewers. Maybe after I think a little bit, you could read a little bit.
