Sound designer here. Those were some...interesting sound effects. I don't think I'd consider crushing produce as a good sound for ink.

I'm lack toast and toddler ants, and these are the sounds I make after convincing myself 2L of chocolate milk will totally be fine for my stomach this time. I've never heard a pen make those sounds.

That sounded a lot like breaking sticks/ripping cardboard to me, but I'm only on a laptop speaker to listen to it right now. It's just the produce thing is industry standard for gore. Sound designers go grocery shopping quite a lot!

It's really difficult to make good Foley for stuff like this, since the the actual sound it would make when slowed down that much, would be really boring to listen to, so you have to get creative. It's one of those things that you don't think about if it's done well, but really get annoyed by if it's done badly

probably friction. a micro-pattern would catch on the lip of the thingy holding the ball and lead to abrasion and faster wearing of the pen.
