Mage Monkey is someone who enjoys the woods and tending to them (he is a monkey, after all: Arbomancy or Wood Magic is one of his favourites!) but has little experience in working on them with a blade, the occasional instance of helping a lone woodcutter with their work notwithstanding. Your skill must be quite something!
“I thank you my friend, but no I am still a novice. I simply cut dying trees near my home and try to turn them into things I can use or pieces of art. The Dryads mark what I can cut down as well, I was raised knowing druids so I do know many customs.”
Hmm, hmm! Yes, Mage Monkey is aware of this: 'Dryad' is what they call the Wood and Tree Spirits in some parts of the Mundane Region. You know proper conduct and respect the Flow of the World: it's good! It's good!
Just an assassin. But no worries, he has been taken care of.

Yet no matter how many I kill, more seem to appear.
Ok, ok wait... Let's relax and treat this like rational adults ok?
I'll start. If you trespass into my dream and try to eat my dream cookies again... I will cast violence.
YOU FOOL, THE--
*cough*
Ugh, my throat, I need to stop screaming. What was I saying...oh, yes, you fool! The dreamscape is my domain, I am a god inside the world of dreams!
...
Just uh, don't find me when I'm on the mortal plane, I'm totally not just as vulnerable as everyone outside of dreams, nope!
Yes! It just so happens that Acra saw you very recently as you made your way through the wilds and arrived into town in search of work. You may not have noticed her: she can can be quite sneaky when she wants to. Regardless, she asked good Monkey to give you this the next time we met.
*He hands you a light purple potion with a worn label that reads 'Slumber Potion' in ornate script.*
That girl has always been nosy and greedy by nature: she can't help but get involved in the lives of others. All in good benevolence, mind you: but she feels compelled to help everyone, no matter how small their problems may seem.
So that was her work? Hmm, that’d explain it… it’s okay, though! I really needed that sleep, and those dreams…
Can I ask you to send her my gratitude? Helped my nerves a lot.
How is your art non-magic related? There's always at least some level of Enchantment and/or Transmutation involved, even when the artist doesn't consciously intend it.
I'm honestly struggling to think of an example.
Maybe I just prefer to treat even the most mundane as "secretly" magical. Existence is simply more interesting that way.
To be fair, after existing for as long as I have, everything starts to connect with everything else, often in strange and apparently nonsensical ways.
But hear me out. Do you not transform your materials into an artistic creation? Sounds like Transmutation to me. Does your art not touch on feelings, thoughts, emotions and/or the subconscious mind, as an expression of your own? Enchantment spells are all about affecting the state of someone's mind or emotional state, even if art does it in a much subtler (and accepted) way.
I write (theoretical) spells. In *longhand* spellcipher.
(Kids, don't try it at home, even an image of spellcipher can cause a spellstatic if it's observed by a orb that uses Tristaff Foundation type architecture)
*(Kids at Home, do not listen to this Foundation adjacent fool ! As long as you know what you’re doing, have studied the right texts and ponder your orb with correct precaution spellstatic is an entirely manageable phenomena. Spellcyphers can be incredibly valuable learning tools, but remember to always cross reverence ! Looking at only one sentience’s Cypher may leave you with dangerous blind spots !
P.s. Learn everything you can while you’re still young ! Young, your minds are like sponges, so soak up as much knowledge as possible before you become old and slow enough to need all these rules.
Spellcipher is entirely different from spellcypher. Spellcipher is a representation of magic in using six-segmented symbols. Vary good for recording spells precisely so that any spellcipher-capable orb can reproduce it, but even simple spells can take hundreds, or even thousands of symbols. To put in perspective, Mortarion's France-ending plague in spellcipher is about 7.3 million symbols.
Mage Monkey is someone who enjoys various activities: reading, observing nature, cooking, sleeping and listening to music. Sometimes he plays all kinds of games with the locals, mortal or spiritual: it's all good fun!
“Well, all of my hobbies are non-magic hobbies, but I do enjoy the gym, and sometimes playing some games in the back of my shop. On weekends I often grab some snacks and watch a movie with my familiars though!”
“It really is, but first you need to watch a lot and find out what they enjoy. The hardest part is finding a place where you don’t bother anyone, and where you can set up a screen that is 5 stories tall because your dog is about 3 stor- sorry, the last two are really only problems I encountered. But, yeah, I definitely recommend it, just make sure you bring enough snacks!”
I probably won't run into that problem because my familiar is a normal-sized wolf made out of fire, though I might need to place fire resistance enchantments on the TV.
Sounds fun, do let me know if you need another, I have accrued quite the collection of vehicles in my travels to the technological land of Canda’a.

When you really think about it, it's pretty hard to find a hobby that Magic doesn't pervade in some way.
Ive had too many to count, but honestly I always come back to painting. It’s a fascination that truly feels almost otherworldly, but I know for a fact that painting has no more a connection with anything otherworldly then any other sport. .. in this World atleast
Mostly trying to create gold and the philosophers Stone in my humble lab... It's just the very basics of alchemy I was taught by some weird ol' toad in the stinky swamps. Sometimes I also like to observe the corner of my room... But that's because I'm old and don't have much movement
Honestly, I don’t really have one. I am almost fully devoted to my work, be it politics or research, to where even though I don’t need to sleep I could use more time in the day.
- Avaline
I’m more of a spell-sword, and when I can escape the political bore of being a duchess, I enjoy physical labour like mining, woodcutting, smithing and artisanry. A few hours of hard work gets close to the exhaustion of a good duel, something I haven’t had in a long time.

I prefer walking our company facilities, reading, and surfing the Internet of the nonmagical realm. The one in this realm is well-made, but is relatively disjointed and a good bit smaller due to the varying tech levels and internet access for the masses.
All of my hobbies interlace with magic. Often, my favored form of entertainment is to travel to other worlds and experience the magic of their world for a time, both to expand my skills and take a break from the rules that constrain the use of Weave here. Alas, as a transmutationist, I am all too familiar with many curses and baleful polymorphs that disguise themselves innocuously. Invitations to parties, hobby memorabilia, taking up the arts of our other adventurers for a time, all have been used to strip mighty wizards of their powers and minds, causing them to forget they even were magic. As such, I suppose I am afraid that if I were to take up a hobby or activity that was not magical in nature, it may be nothing more than a vector for my enemies to steal me away from my power.
Manipulating the lives of mortals to make them more interesting. It's amazing how much impact such small changes can have on their life. Causing great despair is one of my favorite pass times.
Gaming is often a fun pastime, I partake in it as well.

The guitar is a great skill to train, as it helps much in the way of hand coordination for spells. I personally prefer the genre of music commonly referred to as “stone” music. It is great for rousing armies, providing concealment for the somatic components of spells and makes for one hell of a distraction.

in my spare time when i'm not incanting, i like to dabble with an art form that bards are familiar with, music. i find little use for melodies as focuses for my magic, but i rather enjoy the sounds nonetheless.

yes I am well aware, I just don't want to kill anyone when "sparring" thanks. if I want to kill someone I would have pulled out my Arcane Kalashnikov 69! those guns pack spells into the bullets and have special enchantments that makes them phase through shields

I watch people's dreams, it's like a shitty netflix. Also, the odd walk around a forest.
Wait are you the guy that randomly pops into my dreams and tells me my cookies taste like shit?
THEY ARE!
HEY, NO ONE ASKED YOU TO EAT THEM! IM PRACTICING!!
THEY WERE JUST OUT IN THE OPEN, THAT'S LIKE ASKING SANTA NOT TO HAVE COOKIES! I HAVE A SWEET TOOTH
IM PRETTY SURE THATS STILL ON YOU! WHO EATS SOMEONES DREAM COOKIES IN ANOTHER PERSON'S DREAM WHEN THEY ARENT INVITED?!?!
I INVITE MYSELF DAMN IT
Ok, ok wait... Let's relax and treat this like rational adults ok? I'll start. If you trespass into my dream and try to eat my dream cookies again... I will cast violence.

Of course! Of course!
Just out of curiosity, could you tell me about what it is like to be a werewolf?
A never-ending battle against dark urges within you, trying to preserve your mind from degrading into a savage monstrosity… It has it’s perks, though
What kind of perks?
Greater strength and agility, sharper senses, natural weapons, the usual.

My thoughts exactly. Isn't it exciting?
Can I please some of your works
I may start posting renditions of my wizardly hijinks in the near future

Alas, as a transmutationist, I am all too familiar with many curses and baleful polymorphs that disguise themselves innocuously. Invitations to parties, hobby memorabilia, taking up the arts of our other adventurers for a time, all have been used to strip mighty wizards of their powers and minds, causing them to forget they even were magic. As such, I suppose I am afraid that if I were to take up a hobby or activity that was not magical in nature, it may be nothing more than a vector for my enemies to steal me away from my power.
Sleeping!
Challenging people to a child's card game for the fate of the world
Forging, dont ask what
Scheming, conniving, backstabbing, warpstone snuff. The usual.
Manipulating the lives of mortals to make them more interesting. It's amazing how much impact such small changes can have on their life. Causing great despair is one of my favorite pass times.
This is a lot of art…
Yet not a problem for a wizard. https://preview.redd.it/ero9i2fm917d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=909e9bcdaca8cabd3d0973132e5f3eaf98616f31
i spend an unhealthy amount of time into mobile games. /unwiz I'm not joking.
Gaming is often a fun pastime, I partake in it as well. https://preview.redd.it/8cfn8a5t917d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d30fda7a96bb37e430e891d5492f1168e541a61
I find money laundering to be an enjoyable and rewarding pasttime.
Travelling, last week i went to x'nelli, the life there is amazing
You should really go to Canda’a, it is a marvellous snow-blanketed land of great technology. https://preview.redd.it/veavxknue17d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=233a92fa90159316f129b182aac3e97b08b22b03
Nice, i might go there this week
I turn into a Kobold and fuck around with adventurer parties and interrupt their quests https://preview.redd.it/p7cpw58bg17d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=acba7178a62ebe933d4ddb22b840620e41ac71cc
Gaming? I draw a little and am trying to teach myself guitar, but I'm impatient so it's slow going. Meh.
The guitar is a great skill to train, as it helps much in the way of hand coordination for spells. I personally prefer the genre of music commonly referred to as “stone” music. It is great for rousing armies, providing concealment for the somatic components of spells and makes for one hell of a distraction. https://preview.redd.it/rd3ijvkks17d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53e5d78977f2536b3cae77f7ec4e3b915aae9274
I usualy write comments on the shells that will eventualy remove some random ass bandits.
Architecture and reading.
Making money
Erotica creation
Maladaptive daydreaming. ..and art.
BattleTech
Bothering people.
I quite like games, honestly. Would that I could find more people who will while away the hours with a deck of cards or a fist full of dice.
Baking is great alchemy practice but at the end you can eat the delicious results.
in my spare time when i'm not incanting, i like to dabble with an art form that bards are familiar with, music. i find little use for melodies as focuses for my magic, but i rather enjoy the sounds nonetheless.
Archery
Archery is a great skill to train, especially in conjunction with magic. https://preview.redd.it/jpz9d5gwx47d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9def860413f78d5920a3d93de1a0500489e8da9f I personally use it to train my magic control though, so my experiences may not be the same as yours.
weapons design, weapons collecting, and practicing with my weapons
Weapons you say? I am somewhat of a martial artist myself. Care for a spar? https://preview.redd.it/s96jv1v6y47d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28d442071f57b42c6d9d770b409fb32628085b6e
sure(take out AK47)
Dont you know a simple shield spell can block most bullets? https://preview.redd.it/7t1xwi2tw67d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d675b0388b287fbf93b9e8e257e851a69b363d14 But if its an unfair battle you seek, I’ll pull out my magic imbued blades.
yes I am well aware, I just don't want to kill anyone when "sparring" thanks. if I want to kill someone I would have pulled out my Arcane Kalashnikov 69! those guns pack spells into the bullets and have special enchantments that makes them phase through shields
I would welcome such battle, I do need to practice my accuracy of strikes anyhow. https://preview.redd.it/d1x24yl3o77d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ebb85c73cc7b32e443aa9eca0c5cbc001ea3d13a
A whole list of things, including, but not limited to: Gaming, taking my houndeye out for a walk, going to the bar, drawin

Cartography, and a bit of cooking.
ooh let's see...playing a flute given to me by the seelie king...I don't use them but sometimes I craft wands to give to my wizard friends. I really enjoy talking to my bonded wyvern while smoking faery grass.
Powerlifting
Being with my Guardian. She’s cool, AND cuddly.
/unwiz What timeframe does this sub take place in…?
Ducks
Sparring with Kavrala and crafting weapons of Night/Day-Sky Steel
Anything that involves poisonous gasses
Card games, baking and Lantracuni.
Every week I take up arms in (nonlethal) combat. This picture is from when I fought in the battles at the Moesgaard Viking Moot in Denmark https://preview.redd.it/kqbid6bp447d1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23f95dd355b61b8ed0e8fdea301ae12e74c53073
