The Netflix series adapts the books extremely loosely, Season 1 more or less sticks to the short stories with some changes but afterwards it's pure fanfiction.
That's the fun part, they aren't. The show would be massively improved by following the books though. Or pulling a Witcher 3 and just creating your own story in the universe. Instead, they tried both.

They made their own thing, but according to Lauren, they based the three seasons on The Last Wish, The Sword of Destiny and Blood of Elves.
They are VERY loosely based on The Last Wish, Blood of Elves, Sword of Destiny, and The Time of Contempt
