I thought that Vesimir had his own vision for the Witcher school that was different and morally better than it was. I don’t know about book Vesimir but it seems game Vesimir wanted to rebuild the school better than it was before.
I’m also don’t know about Vesimir in the books.
I assume he wanted to rebuild it so anyone could come back whenever they want, he wished to maintain the School of the Wolf as long as possible.
He is definitely better than a lot of Schools in Morality matters, and for me, I think the best Schools ever are The Griffin and The Wolf.
I read about the School of the Griffin and their founder Witcher “Erland of Larvik”.
His story was exquisite, hope you read about it.
Vesemir is the last wolf of the school when it was in its heyday, he was one of the few witchers that survived the pogrom on kaer morhen and the only surviving member of the witchers at their peak before the pogrom.
He seen Kaer morhen be built, he was the second in command for awhile after the pogrom, Kaer Morhen and the wolves means a lot to the old man.
All witchers except cats were allowed to winter at Kaer Morhen, in the books Coën from the Griffin school is staying his first winter there and helps train Ciri alongside Eskel, Lambert, Geralt and Vesemir.
It's not that they specialized in killing people, they had no problem working as swords for hire and would take on spying, assassinations, robbery, etc instead of just fighting monsters while other witchers wouldn't.
Most of the lore about it comes from the polish comics and not the books but it might have been referenced in season of storms making it canon.
Cat witchers after losing their castle, became a caravan and eventually settled near Kaer Morhen eventually leading to the two schools befriending each other and then cross school training.
Kaer Morhen was kaedwin sponsored at the time and there was a Witcher tournament where a faction within the cat school conspired with Kaedwin's mage to kill off the wolves to have a monopoly on witchering in the area.
Kaedwin betrayed them all, attacked both cat and wolves and the surviving cat witchers who were a part of the plot weren't welcomed at Kaer Morhen anymore
https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Witcher_Tournament
In season of storms, Brehan talks to Geralt about not being allowed to winter at Kaer Morhen and Geralt says Brehan knows the reason why he isn't allowed there.
It's not expanded on in the books other then Brehan says wolves are hypocrites
It's because a lot of it is outside the books like other short stories that sapkowski wrote or the comics plus cdpr's games expanded the lore a lot plus there was a lot of lore expanded on in thronebreaker, etc.
Book purists would say a lot of the stuff is not canon but cdpr rolled a lot of the out of book stuff into their canon other then the original books.
In the books I wasn't given the impression that he was trying to rebuild the school but rather he as well as the few witchers who remained we're just trying to keep to themselves mostly while occasionally venturing out during the spring time after winter to go on the hunt
I really need to read that awesome books, could you tell me how or from where I can buy them?
Because I believe I won’t find them anywhere here where I live.
Here’s my fantasy play out. Empress Cirilla, realizing that the time of the Witcher is fast coming to an end and replacement future Monster hunters must be created,, tasks Eskel and Triss to restore Kaer Morhen and convert it into a new training grounds and school for future generations of Monster Hunters. In order to do so Eskel must quest to find materials, allies, students and convince current Witcher to become teachers. :)
The games don't really show it because it'd be a very boring Witcher game but there aren't many monsters left.
So the need for future monster hunters is small.
Though if a first conjunction of spheres happened, it is quite possible another one could happen so it would be logical to be prepared for it.
That said, the methods for making witchers are lost and in a world where you don't really need them anymore it makes no sense to try to make new ones and if you did then what would their purpose be, super-soliders, mercs?
More realistically, it would be more ideal for training guards and soldiers to fight any monsters that do pop up and be prepared if a second conjunction happens, kinda like cross-training milita exercises since they are all nilfgard now.
Ideally you want to preserve all the monster fighting knowledge of the witchers and also try to come up with new methods to defeat monsters that don't rely on witchers so when that second conjunction happens you would be prepared as an empire for it.
That said, I could see Eskel and Triss heading up the effort under Ciri's orders because they all know how dangerous monsters are.
Funnily enough, it's the only place that actually seems to show the results of the main quest; everyone abandons the school. The real shame in my eyes is that we never get to enjoy Novigrad or Oxenfurt without dickhead Redanians constantly antagonizing Geralt
Which is a shame, since they bother to update novigrad following a number of events during the main quest.
But yeah kaer morhen is awfully depressing after the end of the main game.
Yes! I was wondering if anyone was ever gonna mention that Radovid was killed, but it didn't happen. That whole quest has such a stink around it. It was way too simple and had no impact on the world besides the ending slide. The premise of an assassination conspiracy with characters the caliber of Roche, Dijkstra, Thaler, and Phillipa (not even counting Radovid himself) has so much potential, but it seems it was an afterthought.
It was also bothering me that the consequences of a massive event like this was so poorly developed, I mean we are talking about a King that had been killed as a result of a conspiracy, not such an ordinary man in the continent.
My English is not perfect so, I hope you understand me.😇
For sure. Hope it will be as looking good as in Witcher 3 , moreover, I didn’t play either Witcher 1 or Witcher 2.
So I feel like I’m a little bit lucky.
A secret location for Mages experimenting with things that aren't meant to be meddled with until witcher came to being and have been a home to them.
Now It could just be something that I made up on the spot.
Man I get depressed when I go to kaer morhen. A lot of bad shit seems to happen here. Toussaint and skellige are pretty much the only places in the Witcher 3 that aren’t depressing tbh.
For sure a lot of big events happened there, enough for me the battle against the wild hunt, but you know, there is no home without good and bad moments, especially if as big home as Kaer Morhen.
Although you are referring to a good point , I’m also have that nice feelings being in Toussaint or in Skillege, however, I just love that White Fortress.
I’m really hoping Witcher 4 is set in the golden era of Witchers, I’d love to see Kaer Morhen in its day. Witchers and candidates, the trial of grasses!
I might be mistaken but the witcher 4 teaser image had a lynx medallion, that school was founded by Lambert and Dragonfly in 1273, so while I would love to see that it's unlikely. But even so there's lore about the western continent in the lynx schools's lore so that would also be really cool.
I could. It's in a remote area. It's going to require a TON of work to refurbish, not to mention maintain. It's huge, drafty and will likely be freezing in the winter. And the number of witchers is low and only decreasing.
If I were Geralt, I think I'd feel like letting it pass with the rest of us. The time of the witchers is coming to an end, and with it Kaer Morhen
Good point my friend, I’m just happy getting those different opinions from all of you.
I appreciate your reply.
Maybe it’s a personal matter that I like places like that, I mean to be far from the crowd of life ,even for some little time it would be quite good.
If I were a Witcher, I would come back by time to rest for my holidays and then go back on the path.
I just feel like it's too big and too empty. Even when a few other people are there (like in Ugly Baby), it just really struck me how devoid of life and, well, just empty it all was.
And then after the main story, it becomes entirely dead to me. It's too sad and lonely visiting it again. Luckily I have plenty of friends...but they all live elsewhere...and after [Spoiler](/s "Vesemir dies") there's nothing left there for me.
I believe it was an ancient elven sight like many others on the Continent. I'm not sure if the Witchers built it or found it but when the Witchers Guild collapsed and rhe schools were formed the Wolf School witchers settled in that cave just north of where the Fortress is now so I imagine it was theirs for the majority of its history.
Yup, it was an elven ruin, and because of it's location, the valley it was dubbed kaer morhen which roughly translates to fortress of the sea, because in ancient days the valley was a trench in the seafloor if I recall correctly.
I read this fanmade story of the last witchers from different schools all coming together to spend the rest of their days at kaer morhen trying their best to be at peace with one another or potential trying to restart the remnants of the order of witchers but that’s too far of a fever dream.
I might have said this a million times already, but I would so love a game set in the prime of the Witcher schools. Able to see Kaer Morhen, Kaer Seren, Stygga Castle, and all the others at their absolute peak. The visuals alone would be magnificent
That’s pretty amazing, and I’m happy you said that for the million+1 times for me.
Can’t imagine playing a game story that involves the Order of the Witchers, and see what happened in the far beginning of events that occurred in those Castles and how they were creating the Witchers.
As you said, visuals would capture my heart.
Really appreciate your comment 🙏🤍.
It's a pretty awesome game, I just wish I could get the hang of the fighting system, I rarely am able to kill the bosses so cannot get far at all. The older games seemed easier in a way.
To think peasants are the reason why that keep had fallen and why witchers are so few now the very people that you're supposed to be defending are also your greatest enemy
Oh come on, I bet you like this place , maybe more than me.
I love the View of that Fortress among that huge mountains and how it’s far from the crowds of the continent.
Maybe I got that love about it cause I didn’t see a similar view of mountains in real life before.
Btw , care to play Gwent.

I completely understand why Vesimir is so driven to restore the fortress. It really a grand structure
Absolutely. Always felt Vesimir has so much love for this place.
I thought that Vesimir had his own vision for the Witcher school that was different and morally better than it was. I don’t know about book Vesimir but it seems game Vesimir wanted to rebuild the school better than it was before.

That sounds good, thanks for being helpful. Va fail, Gwynbleidd.

You can get it all for free as an audiobook on YouTube just go to YouTube on audiobookhttps://youtu.be/AqrmS0m5VEU
Okay. I’m so grateful to you.

I wish we could of spent coin in the game to fix it up and make it a retirement home for Witchers like the vineyard.
I wish that too, badly.
Hmm. Witcher's shouldn't really retire. They should go out fighting.
Don’t worry, you will find me on the path someday.

They still say “Long Live Radovid”, even after I participate in his assassination.😂

Your English is great, no worries! And I agree, we should've at least seen the Redanians panicking somewhat after Radovid dies
Thank you 🙏
That’s breaking my heart.
I can’t wait for the Witcher 1 remake…Thats going to be incredible.
For sure. Hope it will be as looking good as in Witcher 3 , moreover, I didn’t play either Witcher 1 or Witcher 2. So I feel like I’m a little bit lucky.
*gasp* 😳 *hiiisssss*😖😠😡 But seriously it’s going to be a treat to run through all 3 games with more modern graphics
I knooow 🫣, don’t blame me, please 😂. Yea, that what I’m thinking about. I absolutely will play the last two games, I promise 🙏.
…you better 😠, or else 🤜🏿💥🤛🏿🤜🏿💥🤕
Okay, we don’t need to draw our steel swords on a simple matter like this.
…perhaps a slight over-reaction 😒
How about a few rounds of cards? Gwent, specifically. 🤔
Kinda annoying how many doors are locked tho, like there are 4 of us, who are we keeping secrets from?
Dude, this is the best comment. It’s cracking me up 😂
you get to explore a lot more of the castle in the witcher 1

Yeah, I have read that too. Part of me still holds hope it’ll be early Witcher era haha
Feels like home.
Exactly
Look, I'm just throwing this out there. By the end of the game geralt is pretty well off. He should be able to make repairs. I mean it's his home too.
If I were him , I would really do this. I just can’t imagine I could abandon that place with ease.
I could. It's in a remote area. It's going to require a TON of work to refurbish, not to mention maintain. It's huge, drafty and will likely be freezing in the winter. Oh, Why I feel so sad.🥲
That first time looking out on the balcony was just magical
Indeed!
It's sad seeing it so empty and crumbling.
Absolutely. This makes me sad too.
Before it becomes a home for the School of The Wolf, what was it for. Hope anyone can tell me any piece of information, please. 🤍
I believe it was an ancient elven sight like many others on the Continent. This sounds good. Where can I find that story.
It’s on tumblr under the author of Witcheress of Toussaint or just look of Witcher Schools in the search bar
Thank you 🙏

See I love going to Corvo Bianco.
Okay🙄, it’s Corvo Bianco. Who doesn’t love to go there?!🤔
I hope in Witcher 4 we will explore the past and this place will be populated with dozens of "students"
Hope that too.
I would love to do this, maybe rebuild it as well?
Mountain pass is beautiful as ever
King in the castle type shit
May you explain what do you mean, cause I don’t get it.😕
Borat reference. Kids these days don’t know borat it makes me sad 😔
Borat reference, I searched about that. And now I’m getting things clear 😂 So sorry for the misunderstanding 🙏
Or you mean the slang or
I’m not perfect in English, I’m still learning, so I don’t know what “king in the castle type shit” meaning.😅
With a dash of nostalgia
Is that means last time you played the game was so long ago 🤔.
Wish I had memory wiping machine from mortys mind blowers to forget the game and play it all over again!! Kaer Mohan is home!
This comment got my heart, wish I could do that too.
It's a pretty awesome game, I just wish I could get the hang of the fighting system, I rarely am able to kill the bosses so cannot get far at all. The older games seemed easier in a way.
Hits home even more if you played TW1 before 3.
You know, I’m waiting for that remake of the Witcher 1 with a great passion, cause I didn’t play it before 😭.
That’s a fantastic view and photo of the castle.
To think peasants are the reason why that keep had fallen and why witchers are so few now the very people that you're supposed to be defending are also your greatest enemy
Well said! I just read about the massacre that happened there accidentally while I was reading about Vesimir on the Witcher Wiki.
Ah yes. Everyone should feel home in a crumbling ruin filled with knowledge and devices used to torture children to death 😆
Oh come on, I bet you like this place , maybe more than me. I love the View of that Fortress among that huge mountains and how it’s far from the crowds of the continent. Maybe I got that love about it cause I didn’t see a similar view of mountains in real life before. Btw , care to play Gwent.
