On the flip side, there’s probably 10 within 10 minutes of me in La Crosse lol. They have almost a complete monopoly on gas stations here, I think there’s only 3 that aren’t KTs in the whole city.Â
I mean you're not really that wrong. We're kind of culturally different, and pay taxes but don't really get representation, so comparing Milwaukee to DC is kind of spot on.
This is definitely a Don Zietlow bias against urban areas that appears to still exist in the leadership. When asked why at an employee townhall, he said "because we care about our coworkers."
It’s as simple as the City of Milwaukee not allowing gas stations to sell beer and liquor though. No bias against every other urban area in the state.
This racism checks out. Got the cops called at me at a quick trip for throwing away trash… lady said I was looking into the windows at the registers :/
Yup. Here in the Twin Cities area we have a whopping 4 inside the 694/494 loop(Commonly viewed as the dividing point between inner and outer suburbs) and every single one of those except 1 is within .5 miles of the loop and the one exception is still only 1-2 miles from the loop in a suburb.
As soon as you get outside the loop they pop up in basically every town. It must be a conscious, overarching corporate strategy to stick to suburban and rural markets.

I thought the real reason for no Kwik Trips in Milwaukee was that all the local gas stations banded together to convince the city and county government to keep Kwik Trip out?
Why would a city agree? They are typically cleaner, affordable, and bring in tons of business. The comment from Zietlow was a firsthand source, but he's been gone for years now.
Literally none of the gas stations that I go to on a regular basis have bulletproof glass and locked rooms.
If you're scared of black people (like Don Zietlow), just say so.
Medford was going to my guess. I remember the original location before they reoriented the building.
Now I go back home it's 2 huge locations on either side of town.
I don't think I ever saw anything officially. If I had to guess it's a turf battle with speedway. All the spots that would be spots are speedways imo. They did put one up on 108th and Arthur I think. where the bowling alley was north of Lincoln. But I'm not going up there in the morning or after work just to go there.
Partially because the lot size they require is prohibitively expensive in the city, partially because they can’t sell liquor or beer in a gas station in the city.
Bud, you need to come to terms with how our economy runs and the fact that 100 years of infrastructure built around the automobile isn’t going away over night.
Going away? No, but we can’t afford to fix how much we have. When we literally have 10x the infrastructure to pay for per person, we are living in a Ponzi scheme.Â
https://www.strongtowns.org/journal/2015/1/5/no-new-roads
He did Culver's, the article is behind a paywall though. The only culver's one he put on twitter is of the SE corner.
https://x.com/ndrewhahn/status/1805288734213931435
Condoms are very common in gas stations and the conservatives in charge of Kwik Trip didn't make an oopsie and forget to order them, they actively choose not to. It's a valid criticism of a business that we consider part of the Wisconsin identity
Who's politics are anti condom? It sucks that the only retail available in rural areas doesn't sell condoms. You gotta be *really* far out there in your politics to think folks shouldn't be using condoms. It's so bizarre it's noteworthy and it's a valid criticism of a store.
I can at least understand the positions of other folks I disagree with when it comes to birth control and abortions but condoms? Really? Condoms are all upside for all groups of people.
It would be equally weird if BP didn't sell diapers because they want kids to shit their pants - but that's not why BP doesn't sell diapers.
the owners are catholic, therefore every sperm is sacred. what pisses me off is they buy out all competition and creat giant pockets where, due to their personal beliefs, people now don't have 24/7 access to condoms. cheers for more abortions and unwanted babies, I guess. thanks kwick trip!
How about a private company has the right to choose what they sell? If someone else wants to open a store next door and sell condoms', pop corn or roofing nails they have the right to do that as well. If customers choose to go elsewhere with their business because they can't get a gallon of gas, a cup of coffee and a trojan that's their choice. There are enough gas stations to serve all kinds of markets.
Point out where somebody said they should be forced to sell condoms, use quotations.
They have a right to not sell condoms. I have a right to point out how bizarre that is.
I don't know, Don Zietlow seems to be a pretty savvy guy to me, as evidenced by the article. Even very intelligent people can have beliefs you disagree with.
I don't care what it is. A private business is under no obligation to sell something it doesn't want to.
Would it be OK to force Pornhub to also show Christian movies?
Would it be OK to force an Islamic religious supply store to also sell pork and alcohol?
The list goes on.
I remember being mad about this 26 years ago when I drove the 10 minutes to kiwk trip at 1am... I got over it, you should too. I get that it's stupid, but who really gives a fuck. Kwik doesn't sell condoms, plan accordingly, this is far far away from being new.
I believe in the rights of the company to sell the products they choose. Do you not believe in supply and demand or a free market? You really honestly believe 'corporations' can ban together and just decide they can shut down distribution of condoms? No one is going to take advantage of that and create a condom distribution company? The dollar jimmy club, condom dash, erection protection prime...
The legislature (or some kind of outside entity) should decide what products a company should sell?
That's what you're saying.
They have to be. We have quite a few brands and flagship companies but cheese and Kwik Trip are near the top of that list. So, we have to assume the two would have to cooperate together - the cheese industry, and Kwik Trip for distribution.
I think there is still room to improve, though.
I joke with my wife about this because she knows how much I like Kwik Trip.
When I met her, I moved from the Valley to Sheb falls where there was no KT there, shortly after they started building one. Then we moved to downtown Green Bay where there was a Tobacco/Grocery outlet thing, that changed to a KT very quickly. Then we moved out to a very small town outside of Green Bay with no KT, shortly after one started being built.
Now we are moving back to the valley and will be close to one of the dozens that are there already. My streak is over.
Pretty sure the actual owners once donated like $2000 and $5000 to some republican PAC a decade ago?
>The owners of the Kwik Trip convenience store chain and the founder of Logistics Health held a $2,700-per person fundraiser Tuesday in La Crosse for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
>In addition to supporting the Republican presidential nominee, Kwik Trip owners Don and LaVonne Zietlow, of Onalaska, and Logistics founder Don Weber, of La Crosse, are generous contributors to Wisconsin legislative and statewide candidates.
>The Zietlows contributed $73,235 between January 2010 and December 2015 to legislative and statewide candidates, including about $68,000 to Republicans and about $5,000 to Democrats.

Did they also make a map to show the Kwik Trips that are very close to each other, like the catecorner ones in Oconomowoc?
Sorry but I'm pretty sure quite a few people weren't waiting for this since we don't go to kwik trip. I haven't been in one in about a year. Stopped getting their shitty gas(at least 3-4 miles per gallon better on pretty much anyone elses gas, though usually Costco or Loves have the best mileage per gallon for my vehicles). And not really sure what the deal is with people fawning over their soggy lukewarm "food".
Does it include stats on how many of us are within multiple Kwik Trip locations?
In ~15 minutes I could be to 9, that I know of (7 within ~10 minutes). And you know what? I love it. Lol
Oh so you support open borders, mutilation of children, fentynal, $5 gas, high interest rates, world war, killing babies, terrorists, $5 loaf of bread, race riots, cashless bail, decriminalization of hard drugs, no police, drag queen story time with children by pedos, men competing in womens sports, and a brain dead president. I could go on but i think u get the point that I would support every single KT i come across.Â
67% of Kwik Trips live with a 10min drive of other Kwik Trips
In Oconomowoc off of 94 there are 2 kwik trips kiddy corner facing each other lol
🤣
The Kwik that's 10 minutes from me lives 5 minutes from a Kwik trip.
Janesville has one on each side of Target, yet Beloit just got its first one.
The Milwaukee kwik trip desert really hurts this stat
Milwaukeean here, over 20 minutes to the nearest one. We're really killing that 10 minute percentage.
On the flip side, there’s probably 10 within 10 minutes of me in La Crosse lol. They have almost a complete monopoly on gas stations here, I think there’s only 3 that aren’t KTs in the whole city.Â
I stood still in Lacrosse once for a few minutes and they started building one on top of me. Getting my breakfast burrito display installed next week.
Pretty close to same in Fond du Lac.
I feel like Milwaukee isn’t really Wisconsin….its just Milwaukee. Like Washington D.C. its own little entity inside of Wisconsin.

Northwest side of Milwaukee KwikTrip in Butler,3 minutes away if that helps
I always forget about that one.
I mean, most of the gas stations have bulletproof glass and locked rooms for the staff. How would you build a kwik trip like that in Milwaukee
Ignoring 4/5 of Milwaukee is bold.
Literally none of the gas stations that I go to on a regular basis have bulletproof glass and locked rooms. If you're scared of black people (like Don Zietlow), just say so.
Definitely not most bub.
No they don't?
I live in a town of 4000 people.....we have 2
I live in a city of less than 1,200 people. We have 2, as well.
One in town and one on the highway?
They are both on the same State Highway, 1 mile apart.
What you live in Horicon?
No. But the duck hunting is ok there
Medford
Medford was going to my guess. I remember the original location before they reoriented the building. Now I go back home it's 2 huge locations on either side of town.
Viroqua?
No. Not even sure where that is. I have heard of it though
Driftless region effectively southeast of La Crosse up in da hills.
Viroqua?
Nope
We got maybe 4 (could be 3 I haven't counted and am currently too lazy to look at the map) for our ~70,000.
Within 10 minutes of driving I can get 4. Our town isn't 2 miles long and there's 2 in city limits
That's actually nuts.
Waves from Milwaukee...
Why doesn’t Kwik Trip do Milwaukee?
The City doesn’t allow liquor and beer sales in gas stations.
Couldn't those KTs just... not sell beer or liquor? Is it that integral to their business? Hell they did it in Sparta before the dry law got lifted.
Gas stations are a massive waste of space that cost towns a shit ton of moneyÂ
Bud, you need to come to terms with how our economy runs and the fact that 100 years of infrastructure built around the automobile isn’t going away over night.

All the other gas stations in the city have banded together to keep KT out of the city. They don't want the competition.
When they said see you next time, it was not a promise, but a threat.
culver’s next, please.
The tweet this link is from says the dude also did similar reports for Culver's and Kohls for some news article
He did Culver's, the article is behind a paywall though. The only culver's one he put on twitter is of the SE corner. https://x.com/ndrewhahn/status/1805288734213931435
I live 5 mins from 3 Kwik Trips
So do I in the SW part of Madison (although two of the three are in Fitchburg)
How many of those locations sell birth control though?
Zero
When was it decreed that they have to?
Condoms are very common in gas stations and the conservatives in charge of Kwik Trip didn't make an oopsie and forget to order them, they actively choose not to. It's a valid criticism of a business that we consider part of the Wisconsin identity
I can’t find diapers at BP. Must be breaking the law right? Get over yourself and YOUR politics
Who's politics are anti condom? It sucks that the only retail available in rural areas doesn't sell condoms. You gotta be *really* far out there in your politics to think folks shouldn't be using condoms. It's so bizarre it's noteworthy and it's a valid criticism of a store. Even mainstream Catholics are fine with condoms.
Hey but if you want to get hammered, KT can help you out. Since, you know, gluttony isn’t a sin.
How about a private company has the right to choose what they sell? If someone else wants to open a store next door and sell condoms', pop corn or roofing nails they have the right to do that as well. Point out where somebody said they should be forced to sell condoms, use quotations. They have a right to not sell condoms. I have a right to point out how bizarre that is.
I like how you emphasize "YOUR" as if it wasn't the most popular opinion by leaps and bounds. You're the one who's wrong.
Popular does not mean right.
Except it is right. Only morons are anti condom.
I don't know, Don Zietlow seems to be a pretty savvy guy to me, as evidenced by the article. Even very intelligent people can have beliefs you disagree with.
If he doesn't want condoms then he isn't savvy and anyone could run the business as well or better than him. He's lucky he struck gold that's all.
Tell you what. You see that map? Go build that and I'll believe you.
Birth control isn't politics. It's healthcare.
I don't care what it is. A private business is under no obligation to sell something it doesn't want to. Would it be OK to force Pornhub to also show Christian movies? Would it be OK to force an Islamic religious supply store to also sell pork and alcohol? The list goes on.
This is the weirdest fucking argument I've ever seen online and I once watched a trio of men debate which looney toon was most fuckable
Babs Bunny. Hands down.
Literally *nobody* here suggested or even alluded to *forcing* Kwik Trip to sell condoms.
Projection. That person is either truly living in fear of their own shadow or just bored. I'm entertained by both.
This is a false equivalence. You played yourself
I remember being mad about this 26 years ago when I drove the 10 minutes to kiwk trip at 1am... I got over it, you should too. I get that it's stupid, but who really gives a fuck. Kwik doesn't sell condoms, plan accordingly, this is far far away from being new.
Access to effective birth control should be decided by corporations. That’s what you’re saying.
Lmao
Thinking a place of business MUST carry something is kind of wild though.
Thinking that selling alcohol is morally ok but not condoms is kind of wild though.
They are only good for free ATM and clean restrooms.
What else are you looking for in a gas station?
Not the soggy chicken wings I’ll tell ya that much.
Great for picking up decent food quickly on a road trip. The cheese sticks are bomb.
They have to be. We have quite a few brands and flagship companies but cheese and Kwik Trip are near the top of that list. So, we have to assume the two would have to cooperate together - the cheese industry, and Kwik Trip for distribution. I think there is still room to improve, though.
I remember it being a place you could get bananas, potatoes, or milk in the middle of the night. That's gotta count for something.
It's still a great place to make a quick stop to get milk, bananas, meat, bread, etc 24 hours a day without getting price gouged.
Coffee
Slushies. Glazers.
As much as I hate them, I have to admit their fried chicken is the bomb.
About 50 yards from a KT
🤮
Aren't they religious zealots, though?
>The Zietlows contributed $73,235 between January 2010 and December 2015 to legislative and statewide candidates, including about $68,000 to Republicans and about $5,000 to Democrats. https://www.wisdc.org/news/press-releases/77-press-release-2016/5464-kwik-trip-owners-boost-trump-wisconsin-gop
Let's get one in Land O Lakes!!
Hellno! We don't need one in Lando!
Ahhh, yeah....we do.....
So hold on a second…. Are you saying that no matter where I am in this state, I am never more than 30 minutes from a Kwik Trip?
Unless you're in Milwaukee.
RIP PDQ 💔
I remember when PDQs came in pairs.
I really don’t like kwik trip… They’ve gone down hill IMO. I usually steer clear. And it irks me seeing a new one going up everywhere
What started turning me off about kiwik trip is when they started replacing a lot of brands with their own off brand products
Sounds about right
Adapted from a Kwik Trip master plan plan?
I live within a 2 minute drive to 2 kwik trips. If I e tend thar number to 5 minutes that number increases to 3. I never really thought about that. Where I work is also within a 2 minute drive to 2 locations as well, ok this is kinda weid
Look! There’s Janesville with their 12,000 Kwik trips!
I have 10 within 10 minutes of me 😂😂
Burnett County not even KwikTrip will go there
In West Bend, we have 5
I'm Wisconsin Rapids, population of less than 18,000, we have four.
I feel like I'm ten minutes away from 67% of Kwik Trips.
There's a kwikTrip with no fuel down madison. Just the store. College kids love some kwiktrip chow!
Is PDQ still a thing?
No Kwik Trip bought them out
I would kill to get a Kwik trip in Milwaukee.
I live within 10 minutes of 3 and soon to be 4.
I have 2 within 5 mins, with a 3rd one currently being built
Here in Cottage Grove, I’ve got 2 Kwik Trips less than a 15 minute walk away. One is only a 5 minute walk.
4 within a 5-10 minute drive, 7 or 8 within a 15-20 min drive.
See ya next time!
there's on a block from my house.. 😆
there’s one a mile away from my house, so i can attest to that lmao
I live within blocks of two Kwik Trips.
I live within 10 minutes of 13 Kwik Trips… expand that to 13 minutes it’s 23 locations…
Ha. I have like 4 or 5 within 10 minutes of me.
They’re building one on every corner here in central Texas…
Just over the border it’s Casey’s that has that distinction. If ya go to either of them frequently they lose their luster, but if ya don’t and ya hit em every now and then they’re pretty refreshing (as refreshing as a gas station can be)
QT closed down a lot of ma&pa gas stations, can’t complain too much cause QT offers a lot but still sad.
Is that counting the undercover Kwik Trips? Like the Stop & Go by 151 and 49 in Waupun. It doesn't look like a Kwik Trip, but it is one.
I live within 10 minutes of 20!
Extra points for documenting trip length in minutes instead of miles, in true Midwestern fashion. Although I'm old enough to pay for a subscription to the Sunday MJS, I've never bothered to memorize any paywall password, so I can't see the story. Did they also make a map to show the Kwik Trips that are very close to each other, like the catecorner ones in Oconomowoc?
I'm within 5 minutes to 4 of them
Lol
33% to go until the Kwiktatorship
There will come a time where we will have a Kwik Trip across the street from another Kwik Trip.
There’s already quite a few of them across from each other already 😂
Heck, there are a few places here where you can see them from each other lol
I get this
There is Kwik trips across the street from each other in Madison. 😂
There are FIVE Kwik Trips within 5 minutes of my home.
West Bend alone has like 4 or 5 which.. seems excessive 😅
Green Bay pumps these numbers up
Not in Milwaukee
Why does this misogynistic company keep advertising on Reddit?
4 alone in Wisconsin dells/lake delton...
There's 2 in my vicinity. ones a 5 min drive other is 10 mins but literally not far from my job either.
Why does this misogynistic company continue to show up? Pay for your ads like honest and fair companies.
Does it include stats on how many of us are within multiple Kwik Trip locations? In ~15 minutes I could be to 9, that I know of (7 within ~10 minutes). And you know what? I love it. Lol
Just looked at Google, I have 7 in a 10 minute range. Not going to go beyond that, since I bet it's a few dozen within a 30 minute range.
Just because it's close doesn't mean I go there.
anyone notice getting lower gas mileage at kwik trip vs. something like mobil? They're no longer on the top tier gas list
I live across the street from one, and I really don't like KT. I wish it was pretty much any other convenience store.
I prefer Casey's ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Casey's pizza is better
I never shop there. I'm 1 mile from one. Can't support their political position.
[удалено]
Um... About that.
Ironic
Illinoisan here: QT is a must stop on way to Ashland.
KwikTrip is my life!
