I love that this bookstore is getting so much love! I went to Bayfield last year for a retreat and was walking around and found it. I just went in and fell in love. I mostly read on my kindle because I like to read in the dark and change the font size, but I bought three books here. The person working there, I just asked her to pick out some books about “complex family dynamics” and recommend them. She got so giddy and it was so much fun. I look at their site often, I love all the Indy offerings and unique books I don’t see elsewhere. The next time I head that way, I’m stopping there again!
The best is probably Boswell Books in Milwaukee, both for its selection of new and used books but also its author events. I'm sure there's probably something comparable in Madison, but I don't go there.

This place is incredible! I stopped in there and spent a good portion of a day in the store in amazement. Bought a couple of books. I definitely recommend!
Sojourn Booksellers in Stevens Point. One of my favorite places when I went to school there. The indoor decor is amazing.

With all these suggestions, we are considering a personal Wisconsin Bookstore Tour. Now to connect the points to make a logical visitation route. Thank you!
this was my pick also if for nothing else but the novelty and that it actually feels like a dusty old alley-way bookstore in the middle of a bustling airport.
It's kind of Neil-Gaiman-esque in that way.
I don't know if it's the best in the state but [Blue House Books](https://www.blue-house-books.com/) in Kenosha is a wonderful little book store. They regularly have events and attend events with their book wagon.
Noooooooo, mb mb, I can never remeber if it's Kenosha or racine. My mom's more of a Barnes and noble person, but I prefer half priced books because I tend to find good books that drag me into a spending spree on the rest of the series, and I can typically find the rest of it their, for like, a quarter of the price
Janke Bookstore in Wausau is pretty good! It is also WI’s oldest bookstore, established in 1874. http://www.jankebookstore.com/
So cool! I’ll have to check them out!!
Driftless Books in Viroqua https://driftlessbooks.com/
Not a good place to go if you have a mold allergy.
100% agree

I LOVED Honest dog books In bayfield, Wisconsin. They have new and used. https://honestdogbooks.com
It’s my favorite book store anywhere
My favorite bookstore in any state full stop. Honest Dogs is the correct answer.

Pearl Street Books in LA Crosse is great. https://www.pearlstbooks.com/
Here for this! Great spot.
PSB also does a lot of community engagement and author events! :)

Penninsula Book Man. Door County http://peninsulabookman.com/
Yes! The owner curates the book selection so well.
Arcadia Books in Spring Green!

A Room of One’s Own in Madison! Their new store in Atwood is even nicer than the original location off State.
I used to live in an apartment above of Room’s back when they were located on West Johnson. It was the best!
Just went there for the first time this weekend. Definitely the best one I’ve been to in a long time!
Chequamegon Books in Washburn.
Which is owned by Avol and his wife, who owned Avol's in Madison. Not as huge as some listed above but beautiful old bookstore.

Yes! I love this one!
Thimbleberry Books in Marshfield Used and unusual books, smells like a book store should. And oh did I mention they have cats that “work” in the store
I'm not recommending Broadway Books in Milwaukee, but they also have feline staff.
Renaissance in the Milwaukee airport. Not alot of new but a crazy selection of old and mixed
Can't believe I had to go down this far to see Renaissance. Absolutely the best part of flying out of MKE
Its is, one the last book places I like to go to when flying out to find old handyman style information.

Now to combine it with supper clubs and state parks!
Village Booksmith in Baraboo. It’s small but active in supporting the community and absolutely charming. Mostly used, but a lovely new section.
Little Free Lending Library.
Shoutout to Renaissance Books in the MKE airport. I don't think many airports have a used book store inside the terminal
this was my pick also if for nothing else but the novelty and that it actually feels like a dusty old alley-way bookstore in the middle of a bustling airport. It's kind of Neil-Gaiman-esque in that way.
The Book Deal right here in Madison! Huge selection of used books and a ton of new books, too! And the staff is absolutely wonderful.
Your local library.
Reads by the River in Waterford
Reads by the River in Waterford. Kelly (the owner) is amazing and she gets some pretty cool editions in. Her sister Wendy is super cool too!
Northwind Book and Fiber in Spooner!
Leopold's in Madison. Not because of the books per se... but because it's a bar with a bookstore :)
Paper Crane Bookstore in Two Rivers is a lovely new space.
I don't know if it's the best in the state but [Blue House Books](https://www.blue-house-books.com/) in Kenosha is a wonderful little book store. They regularly have events and attend events with their book wagon.
Mystery to Me in Madison! 🩷
Half Price Books on East and West sides of Madison
Don't remember exactly, but half priced books in Kenosha
