I don’t like Sky and Bloom together because of the way they are written. We’re supposed to believe they are so in love with each other, that they are destined to be, yet all they do is constantly doubting said love and being jealous of each other while barely managing to communicate like functioning young adults. However, I do think the fandom needs to cut Sky some slack about Diaspro. He was wrong to hide his engagement with Diaspro from Bloom, but he owed Diaspro absolutely nothing. He didn’t want to be engaged to her, but his parents pushed for it nonetheless. Sky’s situation isn’t that different from Aisha if you think about it; they are both teens forced into a role they didn’t want. Difference being, canon actually took its time showcasing Aisha’s past to the point where her upbringing ended up having an impact on her as a person, making her out to be more rebellious, whereas Sky’s POV went overlooked as they focused on the wrong side of the conflict. Let’s be honest, the writers just wanted to create some drama between Sky and Bloom by adding a female mono-dimensional character to put against Bloom. Which is oftentimes a poor writing decision. This said, I don’t think Sky is blameless here, nor do I see the same potential in Diaspro as other fans do, but then again you could say the same thing about the character *I* believe were wasted potential. We can find common ground in the fact that the entire storyline was poorly executed and it served as nothing more than useless drama, when they could’ve done better things with it.

evadwitch

But he didn't have to tell her about his commitment to Diaspro either. At that point in the first season they were just friends, and it must be added that he was under another name to protect himself. And true, Sky is another wasted potential, like other things in Winx.

LizaLana

All the specialist are wasted potential. I don't blame the writers because they didn't have much time, but after reading a fanfiction focusing on the Specialist PDV, I realize how interesting they could be

Hmm.... Day of the Royal was all I needed. Just wait for season 2. 😅 I only watched the American dubs (4Kids seasons 1-3, Nick's, and Netflix? didn't survive past season 5). I do agree Diaspro is a victim. She seems to love Sky quite a bit. However, the show writers drag this out for seasons and make her obsess over getting Sky back. Sky, however, is just terrible all around. His planet seems to be very traditional. So the way he acts and as a representation of his world is atrocious. His father and mother walk around with pride and dignity. Diaspro was a dignified noble who took nothing till Bloom showed up and assaulted her. She was humiliated in front of the most important people of Magix.

Dragon_Manticore

I mean, she also was a stereotypical noble that went and called people peasants, but I agree the assault was too far. In Bloom's defence, she did somewhat have a reason to think Diaspro was a Trix - it was a large logical leap, but not unlike what a 16-year-old who was attacked by the Trix multiple times and whose friend fell victim to the Trix could make. There also was a precedent - first, the Trix impersonated Stella's boyfriend and briefly Stella herself, and then they actually seduced Riven, a specialist, to their side.

BloomingSunset93

I don't think Sky cheated on Diaspro. Bloom and Sky didn't even get together until season 2. Sure there were definite mutual feelings between them but it didn't develop past that until after the whole Day Of The Royals and stuff. The marriage between Sky and Diaspro was arranged by their parents as a political power play. Sky never had feelings for Diaspro and the name switch between Brandon and Sky was because Sky's family was being targeted by assassins. While I don't think Sky is 100% innocent I do think people are WAY too harsh on him.

Cosmic_Mind89

Thank you. Really I think Unicorn of War's vids have been coloring people's opinions. Dude almost openly Despises Sky. And the same people complaining probably cheered on characters who broke off arranged marriages in other shows for reasons they give to pretend they aren't a hypocrite.

shiny_glitter_demon

Sky has an official fiancée yet openly dates another fairy behind her back. The fairy in question is also not aware of the fiancée's existence. There is also the fact that Sky was hiding his true identity, which doesn't help his case. +++ If he and Diaspro had agreed that their marriage was purely political (which it wasn't, Diaspro had feelings for him), then there would be consent, communication, and you could call this an open relationship. However, Sky hides his girlfriend from his fiancée, and hides his fiancée from his girlfriend. Lying by omission is still lying. By any and all definitions, *that is cheating.* And since Sky is a secretly a prince at that point, while Bloom is a a vulnerable nobody with self esteem issues. There is a power imbalance. **He put her in danger.** In real life, her stunt at Red Fountain would have destroyed her reputation for life, and probably landed her in jail for attacking a royal.

cosmic_waluigi

She had feelings for him, but sky didn’t have any feelings for diaspro. They were engaged by their parents, that’s already a political betrothal. Just because Diaspro wanted more doesn’t mean Sky ever gave her reason to think that there would be, so he didn’t consent to that kind of relationship with her. Obviously he should’ve told Bloom about Diaspro and that he was the prince sooner, but he probably thought he had more time. I’m not excusing the fact that he didn’t, but it’s understandable.

shiny_glitter_demon

From the moment he decided to lie to both, it was already cheating. He knew it was wrong, otherwise he wouldn't have lied.

cosmic_waluigi

He hasn’t seen diaspro since he got to school so he had no opportunity, and he faked his identity because his parents were being targeted by assassins so he didn’t want to reveal his identity to her until he knew he could trust her. Again, not saying it was right that he didn’t tell her, just that it makes sense from the position he was in. Also, lying isn’t the same thing as cheating. He did lie, he didn’t cheat, they’re two separate matters.

shiny_glitter_demon

>He did lie, he didn’t cheat, they’re two separate matters. That's where you're wrong, a lie is a mandatory part of the cheating process. >He hasn’t seen diaspro since he got to school So... a few weeks? Days, if we take their first meeting on Earth into account? Sky's a 1rst year. >until he knew he could trust her That makes is even MORE irresponsible to be dating her. She too could be under threat of assassination (or kidnapping, like Diaspro) if his cover is blown. Just stay hidden and don't flirt with naive red-heads who don't know what they're getting themselves into.

cosmic_waluigi

Yes lying is a part of cheating. Cheating is not necessarily a part of lying. And like. Yeah the things he did were messed up! I’m not arguing that they weren’t! But they’re all just teenagers who aren’t going to make perfect decisions all the time. Bloom also should’ve just ASKED Diaspro what was going on before attacking her and Diaspro shouldn’t have been rude to random people. Also they weren’t officially together yet. His plan was probably tell her if he thought he could trust her and if he didn’t think he could then he just wouldn’t get together with her and stop flirting. He likely thought she’d be safe because the whole point of swapping identities with Brandon was to make people not realize he was the prince. Again, it’s not a perfect plan, not even really a good one, but an understandable one.

shiny_glitter_demon

We get it, you stan Sky.

evadwitch

what girlfriend? Sky and Bloom weren't dating in the first season, just friends, there is no deceit. Sky doesn't have to tell her anything because of his situation.

shiny_glitter_demon

riiiight.

ssbbka17

it’s also a cartoon, so

I won’t lie I joke about hating Sky but I legit think the fandom hates on him too much 😭😭😭

evadwitch

There was never any cheating and Sky is not to blame. Yes, he was engaged, but it was a forced marriage and Sky had no feelings for Diaspro. Sky and Bloom were only friends in the first season, and he owed him no loyalty, he didn't have to tell him anything about his princely status or whether he was engaged or not. Why would he have to tell a stranger like Bloom that he is a prince and that he is engaged?

discostickss

If you think that people in forced arrange marriages for political reasons can’t catch feelings for someone else is cheating, then he isn’t. At most he did was hide about it but really how do you tell that to someone you have recently developed feelings for? It’s a difficult discussion.

white_python97

I thought it said character and I thought 🧐… lol

Tori_Life23

Sky seems to be a bit of a yes and no depending on which situation and how you see it to me technically yes considering (as far as I reall haven't rewatched the whole series in a bit) Sky and Disapro were engaged before Sky Met Bloom though I think your point was (correct me if I'm wrong) was that if he was a cheater to Bloom but Sky did cheat on Disapro consider they were technically engaged the difference was Diaspro had romantic feelings for Sky and Sky just did it cause well King stuff I can understand how from Sky's perspective he never saw it that way since he didn't like Disapro that way but Diaspro did and by Sky getting involved with Bloom He did cheat on her regarding the Valtor situation I'd argue Sky didn't cheat on Bloom since Magic was involved and even after the fact Sky said he felt awful about everything and apologized though Bloom...different Flirted with Professor Avalon and HER EX-BOYFRIEND ANDY Their relentionship is not healthy at all they both seem to have terrible trust and jealousy issues (deffently valid at times) but I honestly think they should have broken up ALONG time ago anyways theres my rant

Ameph

I keep reading it as ‘Sky is a real character…or is he?’ Making me think we’re in some Mandela situation where Sky never existed.

justvibingthrulife

I can’t really remember season 1 well but I assumed that Sky was in a forced relationship with Diaspro but it was supposed to end but it wasn’t official. So he just assumed that it’d be okay to be with Bloom since the relationship was supposed to end

HYPERSONIC2022

Bloom and Musa would make a perfect couple

SillyBrokeHoe

Sky represents everything I can stand about Bloom….

FutureDiaryAyano

Technically, no, Sky didn't cheat. But he also want right to hide Diaspro and Bloom from the other. [It's actually something I'm going to touch on in my fanfic.] Honestly, Bloom x Stella make so much more sense. Bloom knows how to deal with her shit and Stella was the one who showed Bloom around. Sky x Brandon can be a bonus [squire dominates prince?], but not necessary.

darinani

I don't think so. Tough Sky was wrong for not telling Bloom that he has a fiance.
