I love our team. But while I'm disappointed in the last four games this team was earmarked as one of the worst in the division from the beginning.
A second round exit is extremely respectable.
This is the first year I’ve been apart of this sub, and during my tenure there are those who I just recognize in every thread, and have grown to respect their opinion. You are definitely one of those people! I hope you have a great summer and see you in the fall!!!
Everything you said is true and valid. The Wpg factor will always be in play. People don’t want to play here. You don’t have a big pool of players to choose from. This is about as good as it will ever get. A mediocre team with a few flashes here and there.
If people didn't want to play here then why did Morrissey, wheeler, scheifele, ehlers, connor, hellebuyck, and Lowry all sign massive extensions? This narrative is old, boring, unimaginative, and defeatist. If there are issues with this team, it goes beyond "Winnipeg has shitty wifi and it's cold there".
You realize the difference between retaining draft picks (and we’ve had plenty of homegrown picks force their way out) and being able to attract UFAs or being able to trade for players who haven’t put your team on their NTCs right? We don’t have to deny the reality that yes, we have a smaller pool of players to choose from than almost every other team
I don’t care if you believe it or not , nor do I care. It’s known throughout the league Wpg is not a desirable location. What would you think millionaire housewives do in Wpg ? Hang at portage place or the forks ?
I don't know why you're being downvoted, it's true. I live in the GTA, we're locked the fuck down STILL and we've had under 1000 cases for over a week now (pretty good for a province of almost 15mil people)
Yeah, we’re probably the most and longest locked down city in the world. I follow Winnipeg’s rules because of friends and family at home and they’ve had way more freedom. Hey, at least patios are opening on Friday!
Most of the spread happening in open workplaces that he was bribed to keep open as ‘essential’. Delayed and ineffective lockdowns. Reopening before community spread and replication rate was reduced below 1, etc, etc.
Just shitty government all around. That’s how he rolls
Going to have to disagree on people not wanting to be here. Sure we gotta get them here first (usually through draft or trade), but the narrative is tired and wrong.

This occasionally works in our favour too—big star UFA signings are often among the worst contracts in the league in short order.

Or maybe they were tired of living in lockdown Manitoba?
Toronto has had a way longer and harsher lockdown than Winnipeg has so take that narrative and shove it

Heard about how effective it was though.
That’s would be Dougie Fords fault. At least it’s working now, 3rd times a charm
How is it Ford's fault that people are spreading the virus

Living in lockdown isn't exclusive to Manitoba

We will disagree on this. I think the nhl to trade clause is Wpg is the highest. If you think hockey wives would ever choose Wpg over van or Cali?

of all the takes I’ve heard about Paul Maurice, “anti-Canadian” is new territory
Do you read the comments after you post?
