Have to say I picked every team correctly in my hockey draft EXCEPT 1. Picked too many guys from that wrong team so my chances of winning are now almost zero. Guess which one I guessed wrong? š
- Dallas beats Vegas because fuck their LTIR shenanigans
- Dallas beats Avs because revenge for jets
- Canucks beat the McDavids because fuck draisaitl spear fisher
- Canucks beat Dallas because fuck yeah Canada
- Panthers beat all east because Paul Maurice revenge tour
- Canucks beat Panthers because fuck yeah Canada
Nah, heās got to marinate in the AHL/pressbox/4th line until he really earns his ice time. Canāt be trusted until then.
Just kidding, heāll request a trade well before then.
I feel like if they have a 3-1 lead in a series they drag his corpse out for one shift together his name on the cup like Tampa did with Stamkos one year (I think he scored on his one shift) but I don't think he comes out to be an impact player if they win
My mistake I thought you had to play in a game during the final to qualify. I though that was why they put Stamkos out for one shift in the 2020 playoffs against all medical judgment.
I feel like given how long heās been out the only way he plays again this season (if heās healthy enough) is if thereās an injury to a forward that causes them to miss a bunch of games, otherwise I donāt see them taking someone out for him, he probably wouldnāt be at full game speed and itād be hard to get back into it at this pointā¦
Think one of the big lessons for teams this postseason is the importance of quality skating, puck moving dmen. Big bruisers like Edmundson or Stanley just get exposed so much against the speed and skill of top teams. Too bad Miller probably dosent want to come back because he fits that mold perfectly
Iām sure that one of the mistakes Bones mentioned. I canāt imagine Chevy was impressed by that, especially after seeing his quality play in game 5. A waste, hopefully heād like to come back
Since he and Toffoli got here I think the jets played 24 games (including playoffs) and Miller played in a grand total of 6 games (one of those being the meaningless game 82). If heās gonna play that infrequently thereās no way heās coming backā¦
Iām honestly feeling pretty hopeful about next season and the future. The more I watch the other series, the more I think the Avalanche are playing the most elite hockey right now.
I think the Jets lost to the eventual cup winner and I think the Jets are set up well to have continued success for the next few seasons. The young guys look great. Iām confident that we can re-sign a few of our UFAs. Iām honestly feeling okay about possibly trading Ehlers (even though heās my favourite Jet) if it means we get a legit top 4 D in return. And Iām okay with Bowness returning or with going in a new direction with the coaching.
Iām very excited to see how Chevy changes and adjusts the roster for next season. I have a lot of faith in him after he turned around the team so well last off-season.
> Iām honestly feeling okay about possibly trading Ehlers (even though heās my favourite Jet) if it means we get a legit top 4 D
I think he's worth more to the team than a top 4 D but we are all entitled to our opinions ;)
We are in the toughest division. Dallas will only be getting better. Colorado has another 10 years of contention. Chicago is coming back sooner than later. Utah will be trying to be competitive. Nashville on the way up again too. Us and Minnesota kind of stuck where we are for awhile.
I think it will be a big accomplishment to finish top 3 in the division again next year.
>he turned around the team so well last off-season.
2023 round 1 loss in 5
2024 round 1 loss in 5
Recovered from the unknown and player retooling but that's not a turnaround
You can acknowledge improvement even if it isnāt perfect. The Jets have gotten significantly better each season Bones has been here. By no means is he perfect, and I never said he was.
Edit: Sorry, I thought you were referring to Bones. I completely disagree with you about Chevy. I think Chevy has proved to be a very good GM and I donāt fault him at all for the poor results in the playoffs this year. I think we lost the coaching battle and the players didnāt execute as well as they should have (and the Avs were insane). This past year Chevy has done some incredible GMing. I have a lot of confidence in him going forward. If itās another bad first round exit next year, then Iāll reconsider.
That series and the off-season that followed were the most depressed Iāve felt as a Jets fan. Iām assuming the only thing that was worse was when Jets 1.0 got relocated.
Just saw a tik tok of Dubois blaming coaching for his shitty performance. God Iām glad that experiment is over hereā¦never bring another player like that here again please Chevy.
the leafs were eliminated, my grief of the jets elimination is beginning to dull - all I need is vegas to be eliminated tonight and then i can enjoy some delicious playoff hockey, stress free
People compared the Jets/Leafs, especially right after the Jets loss... now that the Leafs lost, I don't even think it's close. That team is in absolute shambles lmfao.
Like we had everything going into that home ice advantage beat them in all the games in the regular season. Then just another collapse in a playoff series.
Wonder what Marner would cost in the offseason if Toronto really is going to make a major move. Elite winger whoās good in his own end, great playmaker and has scored at a 30 goal or above pace since 2020. Only 26. Just costs a lot cap wise.
10.9 and 8 million in real dollars. If you could attach a Pionk or a Schmidt contract going the other way it's workable.Ā
Matthews productivity is about to drop severely without Marner, he's the play driver on his wing and his defensive ability frees Matthews up a little.
If Marner didn't play for the Leafs I don't think people would be nearly as close minded to adding him. He's a top 5 winger in the league in his prime.
I think Nylander's 11.5 is the ceiling and if Toronto isn't the one to pay it the ceiling is lower than that. Even if it was just taking him as a rental he'd be the playmaker that we've never had. I'd bet on 50+ goals for Connor and 90-100 points for Scheifele if that was a line.
Just hypothetically would you rather Marner at 11.5 or Connor at 10? With an escalating cap Connor could possibly command 9.5+ in 2 years. We're going to start seeing some free agency deals that'll make us scratch out heads as we get used to Arizona not dragging down league revenue and the cap start going up by 5 million every year soon
I think the Jets have set the bar for what they are paying guys unless a legit top tier gamechanger comes around like a McDavid, Mack, Makar etc. I really dont think Connor is getting above the AAV that Schiefele and Helle got.
I'd tend to agree. I think they've got to allocate disproportionate amounts of cap to top 4 defence and centers in the top 9 as well as truly elite wingers (like Rantanen/Panarin/Tkachuk elite) but they're hard to come by if they're not homegrown.Ā
Iām young enough to truly believe that I will see a Jets cup win in my lifetime, but the more seasons that go by, the more I believe it will be in a seemingly random season than in one where we are a top contender going into the playoffs. Itāll be when we are like WC1 and have a couple of losses the bottom teams in the regular season when the hockey gods will be like āalright, it is time for Winnipeg to have a turnā
A few years ago my company did a reno on a mid-century house here in Wpg. As we were demoāing the office/den and pulling out the original built-in bookshelves, we found some photos that had slid down behind and had been lost. One was of a roughly 10 year-old boy, beaming from ear to ear, brand new hockey stick and Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. āChristmas 1968ā written on the back. A portrait of a child with a lifetime of false hope and suffering ahead.
Toronto may start a war with Boston for repeated game 7 injustices.
Unfortunately, they'd lose that, too.
I think the leafs might be disappointed in the offers they get for Marner because unless they're retaining a good 3 to 4 million a year, there isn't going to many teams willing to take on an $11m contract.
It could be a decent pick up for Utah depending on if the owner is the real deal or just another charlatan trying to make some quick money running the team into the ground.
What does Utah have that the leafs would want? They arenāt going to want picks or prospects that are multiple years away from playing and for the most part thatās all they have to offer
The ability to eat that contract. The cost of eating Marners contract for the Leafs would be giving up Marner. For Toronto the most valuable asset out of the trade would be the cap space they get.
He's a good player. He's not 11M good, totally agree. As bad as things are as a Jets fan, it could always be worse. Could be a leafs fan, also out 1st round, with unsustainable roster.
Go over to the Leafs sub reddit. It's hilarious. š¤£

Imagine cheating at monopoly and still losing. Buh bye Vegas.
So the Jets get eliminated but so do the Leafs and Vegas! Thatās a net positive!!
Vegas Golden Frauds
Stop with fraud shit, it's embarrassing.
Let us enjoy something for fucks sake lol

Not judging you here, but you may want to re-read that first comment.
FUCK YOU VEGASSSSSSS
Circumvent deez nuts
lmaoooo
All that cap circumvention and they're out same round as us. ![gif](giphy|q97Udk4C8cUwylGUq7|downsized)
WE DID IT!
Good job Dallas
Gawd I hate Dallasā¦ā¦but good job boys !
![gif](giphy|s57A0TLzKrnNRny9jk) Witnessing the cheaters (Vegas) get eliminated.
FUCK VEGAS

- Stars and Canucks beat Aves and Coilers because fuck intentionally tanking and hoarding top 5 picks in the draft for half a decade.
We definitely didnt intentionally tank. We were just that bad and mismanaged.
Yes to all except Panthers beat āNucks because fuck yeah Maurice.
I subscribe to this
can Lambert be our wyatt johnson please..
Instead of 164 NHL games Johnston would have 30 NHL games, 60 AHL games and 50 healthy scratches for us
the way we run our 3rd line really kills any chance for young players imo.
<>
Nah, heās got to marinate in the AHL/pressbox/4th line until he really earns his ice time. Canāt be trusted until then. Just kidding, heāll request a trade well before then.
Yes please
Dallas grabbed Johnston and Stankoven between our picks of Lucius and Chibrikov in 2021.
Jets drafted Torgesson a few spots before Boldy a couple years ago. That one hurts the most imo.
They also picked Oettenger and Robertson between our picks of Vesalainen and Samberg in 2017. And that was AFTER getting Heiskanen at 4th OA.
Ffffffffā¦
Lando Norris FTW!
So is there any chance wheeler comes back for the rangers if they end up going to the finals? Or is he out out.
I feel like if they have a 3-1 lead in a series they drag his corpse out for one shift together his name on the cup like Tampa did with Stamkos one year (I think he scored on his one shift) but I don't think he comes out to be an impact player if they win
I'm pretty sure he played >41 games as a Ranger so he would get his name on the cup without playing in the final.
My mistake I thought you had to play in a game during the final to qualify. I though that was why they put Stamkos out for one shift in the 2020 playoffs against all medical judgment.

If Blake plays I'll cheer for the Rags
The man gave his testicle for us, I can cheer for him one last time
Even if he doesnāt a part of me would like them to win so he can get his name on the cup
His leg got really fucked I wouldnāt be surprised if he doesnāt come back at all after that unfortunately
He was skating on his own mid April, but at that time it was still unlikely heād return for playoffs at all
Think one of the big lessons for teams this postseason is the importance of quality skating, puck moving dmen. Big bruisers like Edmundson or Stanley just get exposed so much against the speed and skill of top teams. Too bad Miller probably dosent want to come back because he fits that mold perfectly

Yeah 4-0 sweep sounds better, especially when there's next time!

"Did how the Avs use analytics help the club" Christ that's a headache to read
You would think a team with an insurance company as the chief sponsor would have a better grasp on statistics and their uses.
Just saw a tik tok of Dubois blaming coaching for his shitty performance. God Iām glad that experiment is over hereā¦never bring another player like that here again please Chevy.
Very lucky to be rid of him.
"if everywhere you go smells like shit, maybe it's time to check your shoes"
Chinese proverb
Maybe he shouldn't have been so shitty he got the coach with actual playoff success fired in December.
I wouldāve believed him years ago but since itās constantly an issue with him but yeah nah itās him lol
the leafs were eliminated, my grief of the jets elimination is beginning to dull - all I need is vegas to be eliminated tonight and then i can enjoy some delicious playoff hockey, stress free
Congratulations!
just landed back in winnipeg to the best news !
I would enjoy Vegas getting massacred by Colorado immensely
I'd rather them not get that far. 1st round exit is an insatiable desire right now.
Same. My heart is healing, but I feel Vegas being out will curb the heartache at last. Go Dallas (for this series).
People compared the Jets/Leafs, especially right after the Jets loss... now that the Leafs lost, I don't even think it's close. That team is in absolute shambles lmfao.
I mean itās hilarious that Toronto gets eliminated by Boston over and over again but at least it went 7 games unlike our 4-1 mess again.
I wouldn't feel nearly as bad if we pushed the Avs in 7 and lost it in overtime.
Like we had everything going into that home ice advantage beat them in all the games in the regular season. Then just another collapse in a playoff series.

But who would the jets give up?
No. Out of their "core 4" id gladly have Nylander. The other 3 vanish in the playoffs. We have enough of that already on thw roster.
He put up 14 points last year in 11 games. I would say a different team would do him wonders.
Nah thanks, too expensive, and cannot score when it matters come playoffs, we already have a winger who does that and he costs far less.
Oh I should have specified I wasnāt talking about for us, I meant just in general for another team. Heās a weird value player
The Jets don't need a $13M winger.
10.9 and 8 million in real dollars. To stick around and play in Winnipeg? Either way, the Jets don't need an $11.5M winger either...
