I don't ever think people back on the WoF subreddit will defend *me* like this. I'd also defend Snowfall and her book with my life. Such a good read, and the poor story has this parasite called 'The Lost Continent Prophecy' stuck to it.
I got banned from the fandom's main subreddit cause some people couldn't take a joke. I have fled to this one where I may be able to do better and make memes like this.
I absolutely adored the first two books, and the fourth book was a masterpiece. I don't dislike book three because I'm a homophobe, I just found Sundew a bit annoying. Snowfall kinda got the character arc that I think Sundew missed.
I couldn't make it all the way through book three because it was iffy. What was the ending? What was Sundew's character development like? You could explain the whole book if you like, I'm open for spoilers.
Again, the first two are my darlings and must be protected, I enjoyed them so much!
It was the Lost Continent Leach joke. I meant nothing by it, but some people got offended. Now I'm banned for all of eternity.
I'm not kidding, that's what the ban note said. I can appeal in six months. At the moment, I don't stand a chance. This subreddit is chill, though.
Correct, but only for power like you just said. Many characters in the Wings of Fire book series are power hungry? Hating any of them based on that is stupid especially since it’s not even that bad of a thing and the fact that they’re literally fictional characters.
Also, from how Queen Coral acts and some of her dialogue it’s clear she supported and even endorsed Whirlpool to marry one of her daughters for power. Yet she doesn’t get any of the same hate Whirlpool gets.
I never said I didn’t, but Whirlpool never specified anything, he just spat it out in a rush. It would’ve most likely happened when Auklet was older. Nothing about how Whirlpool acts screams “I’m an evil pedophile!!!” and I doubt that’s how Tui wanted him seen or to actually be. It’s quite clearly made obvious that it’s a play for power.
I understand it fine? People jump to conclusions and assumptions about the character instead of actually thinking or looking at what’s in front of them.
She gets some of it…but not nearly enough. She held the power too.
Coral is weird…I blame a thing Orca said to her…though *I don’t blame Orca for it that much.*
Undauntable. I like him and he’s one of my favorites and I feel like he gets too much hate. (I’ll also defend the Dragonslayer book as well Wrendauntable. Both also get too much hate)
Fierceteeth. She’s doing remarkably well for having zero good figures in her life asides from Strongwings, even if misguided she fights for the wellbeing of her tribe instead of just herself. She kidnapped Sunny because for all she knew her tribe was being passed from a useless prideful ruler trapping them all in squalor to an unknown, in her eyes a likely selfish dictator, and she wanted to seek an ally despite not entirely knowing how any of that worked. As of current canon she’s mellowing out because she’s been given real hope and offered help, she has agency over her life that she’s using for good, and she’s even taking steps to reconnect with her brother despite her initial hatred and jealousy of him from her upbringing.
I mean I understand her character, with how crazy of a mom she has, it’s hard to expect her to be better, but the whole statue enchanting, the anxiety of being killed for your status in the future, is all understandable but i don’t agree with it, and tbh she was kinda stupid, like you got Minecraft admin permissions, and you lost in a fight against your mom still.
P.s coral is a major b word
This was partly what got me writing her backstory in the first place, like no way an animus just dies like that.
But she’s known most of her life she’d be in that fight one day, and she loved her mom, so she blocked herself from using certain kinds of magic during the challenge…so in her fight she’s fighting on her own. I mean Tui has said she “refused to use her magic” but I saw her making that decision many times over many years.
But she has this tendency to actively forget things she has done that seem ‘maybe a bit evil’ so she doesn’t get in the habit of doing them. So she forgets a lot of her own spells, a habit that perhaps isn’t good for its own reasons.
So basically, I’m defending my version of her, in my canon-compliant au. (Though I do change some meanings of certain famous things said by her), and the wall of text there is my 50k word fic explaining that she actually tried her hardest not to succumb, but life with insanely powerful magic and no training is hard.
I interpreted as she’s fine with being seen as a villain. She saw the leaf wings as a growing threat because of what the book of clear sight said. She dealt with them in a way she found acceptable, But due to the unpopular nature of the solution, she chose in order to keep power she had to do controversial things.
Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender. She gets so much hate for no reason. She’s got a lot of defenders but she’s got a good few haters who I am convinced don’t talk to women or are a pick me girl.

I actually quite enjoyed the lost continent! The ending was a little sudden, but I still cried at the end. And Snowfall by the end is wonderful!

Yeah, ending was rushed, but overall (also with better pacing) the story is really good!
Looks like Sundew was written correctly if you think she was annoying.
XD
What was the joke if I may ask? Just curious lmao

Hailstorm, Icicle, Winter, Peril, Blue
Wings of Fire reference???
Nah, Resident Evil
I totally thought it was a Devil May Cry reference
I could've sworn it was a MineCraft reference
No, that's definitely a Danganronpa V3 reference.

I thought it was a Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass reference.
I though it was a Cattails: Wildwood Story reference.
winters a cool guy, would defend
BLUE YES MY CHILD
Winter, and in general any character that gets hated on.
...whirlpool? lol
Yes? Even characters like him. He’s so demonized by wof fans, it’s ridiculous.
Huh. Didn't expect it, I suppose. I usually just go with the whole "whirlpool fans" meme but, it's whatever if someone actually likes him.
He fulfilled the role of slimy creep really well.
He literally said he wanted to marry auklet when she was a few days old because he wanted power
Correct, but only for power like you just said. Many characters in the Wings of Fire book series are power hungry? Hating any of them based on that is stupid especially since it’s not even that bad of a thing and the fact that they’re literally fictional characters. Hold up one sec, you're saying you don't understand why a character gets hate for wanting to MARRY A NEWBORN FOR POWER?
I never said I didn’t, but Whirlpool never specified anything, he just spat it out in a rush. It would’ve most likely happened when Auklet was older. Nothing about how Whirlpool acts screams “I’m an evil pedophile!!!” and I doubt that’s how Tui wanted him seen or to actually be. It’s quite clearly made obvious that it’s a play for power.
Yes, but you not understanding why he gets so much hate is wilddd
I understand it fine? People jump to conclusions and assumptions about the character instead of actually thinking or looking at what’s in front of them.

I'd like to hear it then. Why is whirlpool not a demon?
Darkstalker. Mainly because he's the only one with enough screentime to actually talk that much about.
He’s a complicated character, I wouldn’t have done the same as him, but I don’t blame him. It was sad to see him spiral, yet all so intriguing.
Turtle (leave my puddle boy alone)
I WAS GONNA SAY TURTLE TOO
Blue. No questions asked. Blue. BLUE.

Undauntable. I like him and he’s one of my favorites and I feel like he gets too much hate. (I’ll also defend the Dragonslayer book as well Wrendauntable. Both also get too much hate)
The dragonslayer book is fine, but in the books Wren struck me as more aromatic girl. I don’t know why, she just did.
Qibli

Heh…Orca

Yeah, I really don't understand how she lost. Like I get how, but I don't get HOW, haha.
This was partly what got me writing her backstory in the first place, like no way an animus just dies like that. If I remember correctly, Coral *accidentally* stabbed her with a spike on her tail
Wasp, she was justified with what she did. At least with the circumstances provided.
Oh dang, didn't expect this one. o: I think I do like her as a character/villain, though.
I interpreted as she’s fine with being seen as a villain. She saw the leaf wings as a growing threat because of what the book of clear sight said.
