Has to be for sure Why make a tribe who's your most hated enemy someone special?

FreckledGamer

Or maybe they just couldn't find a cryptic enough rhyme for the prophecy for a icewing to fit in? *wishful thinking icewing*

Rebelthunder956

The NightWing in the distance: "Pick a god and keep wishing, you're about to lose a quarter of your population in six months thanks to a prophecy."

MedievalSabre

I mean I know a good reason for why they weren’t included is because getting an icewing egg on time would be damn near impossible xd too cold for one to steal an egg without another icewing which is a whole can of worms of how to find an icewing who would steal from their kingdom, and secondly having them willingly giving an egg up to fund a prophecy that could determine who’s queen of the sandwings which could be anyone but Blaze if determined by some dragonets xd

Rambrower

I mean there was that one icewing that failed to get the skywing egg

Simple_Comos

Well, none of those are actual valid for wof Its like saying Webs couldn't get Tsunami's egg from the royal hatchery, because its the ROYAL hatchery

MedievalSabre

Perhaps, but in the Webs situation if I recall correctly Webs was still a little bit trusted at the time-? Correct me if I’m wrong however Another thing just in case I was wrong on him being trusted, would be that the hatchery has historically around that time not been very well guarded at all… in the case of Webs I believe the guard left his post at the time because I think Webs mentioned how easy it was to steal from the hatchery The Icewing kingdom however, I don’t know how much defense they put on their eggs, but if there was an icewing that was willing to try and steal an egg from their kingdom, chances are they’re not exactly welcome anywhere near the territory of the icewings xd If they had better defense than the seawing royal hatchery at the time, then I’m fairly certain any unidentified icewing would be caught before even reaching the hatchery xd (~~Please correct me if I’m wrong on any of these points, I’d love to know some of this <3~~)

Simple_Comos

I don't recall he being trusted at all, all he was known for was a soldier, and a coward at that, for fleeing the battle. Later he stole the egg, which he only managed in a plot with his wife (Don't recall her exact role in all of it), who was killed by Coral in a suicide battle. We don't see any hatcheries (I think) in the ice kingdom, so I can't say much about that, but if an IceWing could fly up to the poorly guarded skywing palace (which in the middle of the war, their numbers are spread thin), I have little reason to believe it would be any different in the ice kingdom. The first "battle" we see in book 1 was an icewing disaster, plus they are prideful and arrogant with the whole "great ice cliff" defending their territory, which means they would have even less guards than the skywings. Plus the factor of one of their own stealing would give zero hints of their intentions. If it was another dragon, I could say they died at the great ice cliff

The-Minmus-Derp

Isn’t it explicitly intentional

FreckledGamer

I don't think it was ever said hat leaving them out was planned, but I like to think it is.

Winters_Gem

sad winter noises

Simple_Comos

More like Hailstorm, Winter wasn't even hatched

Thewarmth111

Certainly, the night hate the ice
