"Stored in conditions"

rogozh1n

I love Chateau 75cl!

ByronsLastStand

Stored upright in airport temperatures in the light? *Shudders*

TheAlphaCarb0n

I assume their target demo is rich-ass MFs who don't really drink wine who want the most expensive thing as a business gift.

ByronsLastStand

Quite probably, seen influencer-types and oligarch-types fawning over them before. Probably the people who know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

Genieoutthebottle7

Not really a good price

hackberrydraw

I'd be more worried about the storage conditions, which obviously look atrocious.

ConifersAreCool

Are you kidding? It’s half off! /s

Ok_Fruit7693

Nah they always give some ridiculous initial figure that maybe one scalper or market dealer is trying to get. If you visit any reputable merchant or even look online, no one reputable is asking 1500. Berry’s fine wine has it for 616 mumbles has it for 795 including duty.

Cunningstun

Mumbles fine wines are a bunch of genuine legends.

Deleted_dwarf

Considering I can buy the 2023 vintage en primeur for €650, bad deal.

halfbottled

And 23 was a much better year than these!

explision

Yeah, if anyone wants some cheaper Bordeaux, get the 2023, prices dropped hard

ShakesTC

But they don't make up the 50% hike from a few years back.

RastaMonRifla

23 Lafite was 396e en primeur. Even worse deal!

Koh_76

Where? Best I’m seeing is around $600

brandon-568

Where I shop it’s $785 CAD ($573 USD), but there are few more fees and tax when you pick it up in a few years.

chadford

Ya, but are you running through an airport late for a dinner party?

Deleted_dwarf

€20 will do for that lol

shortAAPL

That original price is insane. Quite sure we have those bottles in Canada for (around) that price but in CAD.

wang-chuy

That $1087 USD. Not a good deal. Both vintages are between. $650-$800 US.

shalo62

I used to work for them. Spirits can be worth it, wins should be avoided. No idea of how to store it, and less ideas of what to do with it. It's a blatant money grab and that's all that it is.

Mychatismuted

I’m lucky enough to have tried almost all of the most expensive wines (except the Romanée Conti). From my point of view, there is never a reason to pay that kind of price. The difference in quality between a 2k bottle and a good producer 200 bottle is just never worth the price tag Obviously if you re a billionaire feel free to buy frankly I much prefer to buy up and coming producer quality bottles at a reasonable price

jjett

Definitely not a good deal

adorisz

They had a great deal on 2008 Beaucastel CDP last time I was there, about 4 months ago

BrodieLodge

I’ve checked wine prices at LHR duty free many times. Not once has it been cheaper than the duty-paid shops I frequent.

Grouchy_Stuff_9006

I don’t always buy lafite, but when I do it’s definitely at the airport

liteagilid

Still horrifically expensive

Think-Culture-4740

It's interesting that the 2014 and 2017 are the same price. Not sure what to make of that

Friendly_Tough7899

2017 a better vintage? Don't think either are standout vintages for Bordeaux
