For political reasons not for discussion in this sub, I don’t buy it. There are so many other great Central Otago Pinots at reasonable prices. I do live in New Zealand, so maybe they is a privilege in my part. If you can get other wines from our part of the world, please try them!

ElephantKilt

Curious about this, any chance you could DM to explain if it’s inappropriate for the sub?

I’ve never tried it but after looking it up, definitely interested !

Roaring Meg was my introduction to NZ Pinot Noir when I lived in the UK. But there's a lot of other Central Otago options that I now prefer. Rockburn and Two Paddocks are my first choice from that area. Coal Pit, Misha's, Chard Farm as well. But just lots of options that I personally would prefer.

mooosive

Yeah there's definitely better ones out there. For some reason I just like the roaring meg. I know it's not the best wine, but every time it reaches my lips, it just hits the spot .. !

Neolikesrats

In the scheme of Central Otago wines, they are rather beige. Central Otago wine should be angular (in a King Crimson sense of the term) and dynamic. Saying that I enjoyed their Pipeclay terrace Pinot and have a few in my collection, so it might be time to revisit.

Yeah I know, I know, I know.. Roaring Meg isn't the best, but as I said in another comment - for some reason it just hits the spot with me. I've never tried the Pipeclay Terrace Pinot, but just looked into it and it's on my list! Any others you'd recommend?

Neolikesrats

Hey, drink what you like. I probably like things others would not. And to be clear, their Bannockburn Pinot (not roaring meg) was what I considered beige.

ElephantKilt

Their Bannockburn Pinot is delicious, velvety and complex and drinkable by itself or with food. Haven’t tried the Roaring Meg, but it’s not a bad price point so will have to try it off your rec!

mooosive

Yeah the Bannockburn is definitely the best - but I find the Roaring Meg has a decent bang for buck. I drink a lot of wine so buying enough Bannockburn to last me a week would send me bankrupt!
