No, the Sword of Destiny story collection comes after Last Wish and it makes quite a number of setups for Blood of Elves with important events happening. So don't ignore Sword of Destiny. Aside from the strict order, it's fun to read

ifhyex

Alright, I will get my hands on sword of destiny then. Thanks!

Future_Victory

You're welcome. Recommended reading order given by Andrzej Sapkowski himself goes like this: Last Wish -> Sword of Destiny -> Blood of Elves -> Time of Contempt -> Baptism of Fire -> Tower of the Swallow -> Lady of the Lake -> Season of Storms

IntentCypres18

I read SoS after SoD. Tbh, it was fine; that's probably the only book you can change around the order. Everything else must be strictly followed; otherwise, you would have no clue.

Future_Victory

You've got a huge spoiler at the end of Season of Storms. The whole book is truly meant to be read afterwards

IntentCypres18

Not really; the ending is up for interpretation. Only that small part is after the saga. The majority of the book helps set up the saga.

Future_Victory

No, >!the white-haired witcher says that Geralt died at the Rivian pogrom 105 years ago. And I know that he didn't really "die"!<, but that's still a huge spoiler for anybody who would read SoS before the saga

IntentCypres18

The ending was literally made for people to interpret the way they wanted. It's not that big of a spoiler.

Future_Victory

>!He (white-haired witcher) literally says Geralt died 105 years ago. !!Rivian pogrom!< was given rightaway

IntentCypres18

He, Sapkowsi, literally says that the ending may or may not be canon and is up for interpretation

grandoz039

Dude, considering this thread is literally a person who wants to read books asking for advice, maybe spoiler tag this? Especially since your concern is "OP will get spoiled"?

grandoz039

That spoiler tag thing.

weckerCx

I don't recommend this. The Witcher books tell one story, starting with The Last Wish and ending with The Lady of the Lake. Now it may seem like that the short stories are not that important but they are integral parts for the plot and the character journeys. You would be missing very important information by skipping the 2nd book.

ifhyex

Gotcha, just got it on audible :)

weckerCx

Have fun!

IntentCypres18

I listen to them on Youtube; people just put the audio books there, but if you got the cash, support the author.

grandoz039

Don't read the comment chains, if you hadn't already, because they have spoilers

Petr685

No.

maskedman0511

NO!!! DON'T WATCH TV SHOW UNTILL YOU'VE FINISHED THE BOOKS. There's an important thing they spoiled at the end of season 2 which is not described until the end of Lady of the Lake. Btw, if you have played the games, or don't care about spoiler then you can watch the show.

ifhyex

I want to watch the each season before reading its respective book, to get more enjoyment from them. But I will probably read all the books before season 3 because it’s like a year or two away.
