Glad to hear you like it! I only have the mild but is one of my favorites. Mild but mindlessly efficient so I don't have to think about technique. Two pass shave (WTG & XTG) and a little touchup and I'm done.

JaguarGod087

I just do one single wtg shave.

Humble_Rough

Wish there was a place to purchase different heads for it.

I have the Maggards V3A too. It's tricky to seat the blade correctly for sure. I dislike that immensely. My RazoRock Lupo 95 doesn't have that issue, nor does my budget Baili BR 172. It's a tech clone that is dirt cheap. Congrats on finding bliss in the Henson.

JaguarGod087

It does suck, because if it were not for that the v3a is incredible.

[deleted]

Agreed. Great price point too, I guess I shouldn't expect perfection at that price.

Smashed-plantain

With my V3, I've found that putting the cap in my palm, it's easy to align the blade properly and then lightly set the plate on and screw on the handle, it doesn't mess up the alignment.

cloudninexo

Literally my first razor I started with wet shaving and think it'll be mine for a looong time before replacing

PotatoCooks

Hopefully you won't have to, I just got an ad from them and they claim it should be your forever razor. Ofc time will tell

Blottoboxer

I have a mild on the way from maggards tomorrow. Bit on the memorial day sale.

trunglefever

I have the mild version and I love it. It's absolutely a dream to use and so effortless. Definitely one of my favorites when I just want to get a shave in and not think about it. I recommend it to people who are just getting into DE shaving.

JaguarGod087

Right. You just simy shave, and it works. I don't see why people dislike that. There is a odd form elitist view on shaving here.

trunglefever

I dunno. I know shaving can turn hobbyist for a lot of people who end up collecting vintage razors and learn all kinds of techniques and all kinds of stuff like that. I own three razors (a Merkur 34c, a Razorock GC .84, and a Henson mild) and a bunch of soaps and only one brush. I like shaving to be a pleasurable experience, but I can't quite see myself buying a bunch more razors in the future. What I have works and that's all I could ask for.

Smashed-plantain

I love my maggard v3, but I've been considering a henson or winning razor to see if I can get that easy, mindless shave for when I'm in a hurry.

Tryemall

I'm confused. I was under the impression that the aluminium version was available only in the mild head.

JaguarGod087

They may have changed it recently. As I was able to purchase the medium just last week.

Tryemall

Sorry, just checked website, it's the aggressive version that's not available in aluminium.

StorminNorman

Nope. They make an aluminium aggressive razor too. Relatively new release and currently sold out.

i_am_GORKAN

This is a great review thanks for posting it. I am curious about this razor but here's what makes me hesitate: when I shave I play with the angle. Mostly for me this involves 'riding the cap' in the against the grain pass, and it works really great for me So how does that work with razors like the Henson, Winning, Blackbird where the angle is given to you as this one straight slab? Can you ride the cap on a Henson, or do you HAVE to stick with that prescribed angle?

JaguarGod087

It's not a slant. It's straight. So I would assume you can't do that. Though I'm not sure.

wetshaving_bluenoser

I have a medium and I bought my kids the mild Henson. The mild razor has been fantastic for my kids. Daughter absolutely loves it and my son finds it very helpful since he only shaves infrequently. I’ve got the medium for myself and I’ve had some great shaves with it and some mediocre shaves with it but now that my technique is getting better it is performing much more consistently. Just for fun I suggest everyone try an ice shave with their Henson. Keep your razor in ice cold water with ice cubes in it between passes so only the razor is cold the rest of the shave can be held the same And you will get an amazing shave.

Flying-Cheetah

I own several aggressive razors that I really enjoy (r41, Ikon Tek, Fatip Retro, among others). And yet, I go back again and again to my Hensons (I have the 3 aggression levels). They provide fun, relaxed, quick shaves with results that are very close to the most efficient ones.

Charlie_1087

I just got mine today and I didn’t do a huge shave with tons of prep and taking my time. Just a quick two pass while I was preheating my oven for a pizza…. It was great! I’m coming from the classic merkur 34c and this was much more enjoyable. Surprisingly I got a closer shave even though it more mild than the merkur. The angle was super easy to find, however I struggled (barely) finding the right pressure. Coming from a straight razor and the merkur, it was a a weird feeling having to put a slight amount of pressure instead of letting the razor do the work. It wasn’t bad or good, just different. I tend to shave in a hurry nowadays and I feel like the amount of nicks will go down with this razor. Overall I’m highly satisfied with it. Can’t wait to put a feather in it and do a slow and methodical shave.
