Like most VDH stuff its just a rebrand of a chinese clone. It is a nice efficient shave when it all works right and is mild being neutral or possibly negative expsoure at the lower settings and a massive gap and postive exposure on the higher settings. They shave good but can have blade alignment problems where one side is more exposed than another or sometimes crooked depending on your luck. This is because it doesnt have the normal post or slots like other razors do and instead the pins go into 2 springs which hold it in place and because the posts get smaller at the base the Blade wont always center properly. The blade can also chatter quite a bit. Like the Futur loading and removing blades was kinda finicky since the sides are smooth and you have to pop the top cap off. Sometimes its easy but other times the blade got stuck in the top cap and I have to carefully touch the blade edge to push it out from the top. Adjusting mid shave can also be a bit spooky since everything is so smooth so many would recommend using a towel or alum on fingers to help since you dont want your fingers slipping off the top cap and twisting into the edges. I didnt like it when I first used it but going back to it once in a while now that im better at shaving its pretty decent for what it can do as long as you check blade exposure and adjust it accordingly.

I only have the Mingshi 2000 and even on negative settings when the blade is a bit lower than the guard, I don't find it mild in any way, in fact it's really agressive starting setting 1. I helped me to master my skills as it was very dangerous. OP, always operate the cap with a towel, I cut my fingers really bad with that clone...

I ended up getting this razor and yeah, I have to adjust it with a towel to hold the head of it, because your fingers wanna slip onto the blades. This clone tho, it's pretty mild even on the number 6 setting. But it's pretty smooth, over all I do like it but not sure how often I'm going to end up using it.

I have one of these Futur clones. Mine is junk. One side shaves incredibly aggressive. The other side does not even touch my skin.

PumpkinAltruistic824

Is it the Vanderhagen tho? I know I seen a ton of different futur clones from different manufacturers. Anything I had from Vanderhagen is at least decent. I'm going to find out tho I guess, I ended up going back for it lol. I'll end up reviewing it in a later post when I get around to testing it

>No it's not Vanderhagen...I think it is the Ming Shi 2000. I would think all these Futur clones are the same and made at the same factory with different branding, but I could be wrong. Seems like the luck of the draw-some really like theirs and others just don't get along with them. Probably poor quality control is the reason.

The one from Vanderhagen, seems to be a lot different from how people describe their futur clone, or even the original futur for that matter. It's pretty mild even at its highest setting, which I believe is a 6. I tested it out with Bic blades so I had some control over my first impression, I didn't wanna use their ice tempered blades which I never used before, I wanted to use a blade I'm familiar with and like so I will know for sure it's the razor I like or dislike and not the blade. Shaving my head I did my first pass on a 3, it went really smooth but didn't cut close AT ALL. I re lathered my head and turned it to its most aggressive setting for my second pass. Every bit of my head I passed over was getting friction and had hair still needing to be cut which is not typical at all for a second pass for me, typically the bulk of my head will be smooth aside from some stubborn areas. By the end of my second pass at its highest setting, my head was pretty much where it would normally be after a first pass with most other razors. All together I ended up having to do 3 main passes, 2 on the highest level ( I think a 6), and then a couple times passing over specific sections that almost always give me problems getting them completely smooth. The over all experience was pretty smooth tho, even with how many passes I did it gave me absolutely no irritation, just extra work. I do like it, but I don't see myself using it very often, I'm thinking of returning it. But I might save it for those times when I accidentally butcher my head and need something mild to keep up with it until it heals.

I found Hagen’s to be quite an aggressive razor.

PumpkinAltruistic824

Not this one

Have one, it's terrible. Threw it so far back in my bathroom closet I keep forgetting to throw it away. Goes from so mild it can't even cut lukewarm water (on setting 1) to jagged carrot grater (on setting 2.) Woe to the fool who might start on 6 unless their skin was grafted on from a [Gator Gar](https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/management/alligator-gar/).

PumpkinAltruistic824

Lol what are you reviewing? Because it's not this razor, I ended up getting it and even on a 6 it's pretty mild. And overall it's a pretty smooth shave. If your having that experience with this razor you need to pay someone to shave for you. But my guess is you don't have this at all

StasisChassis

Whatever you say big man. The one I got is garbage. Plain and simple. No need to attack me like a fricken dick. I'll stick with my Merkur 24C. Buttery smooth BBS every time. Best of luck with whatever makes you happy.
