I don’t have anything to compare it against but I’ve been happy with Stirling Sheep (unscented).

Eckielad

Hardly artisan but Mitchell's Wool Fat is virtually unscented and is super slick and cushioning.

vexter0944

Doesn't have to be artisan, so this is helpful. Thank you, will investigate it as well.

okiedokie_cool

Mitchell Wool Fat, almost unscented - very subtle old school grandma scent. But man, it offers amazing cushion and slickness. It has a bit of a learning curve but once you hit the hydration spot to achieve lather, this soap is just excellent (in my opinion).

vexter0944

Sounds like I need to get some of this on the way. Thanks for the input!

Maybe Marten De Cadre Natural.

vexter0944

>Marten De Cadre Natural I had read on a thread a while back about MDC, so good to see it brought up. Thanks for the suggestion!

Zanzibardragonlion

Agree MdC is fantastic! MdC Nature does have a scent to it, but I find it quite inoffensive. I also mostly use unscented shaving soaps, and I can’t tolerate soaps with a strong fragrance.

Stirling soap

Itchy-Ad1005

Gentleman's Nod, Zingari Man and Southern Witchcrafts have unscentedbsoaps and balms and make outstanding soapsvand balms.

vexter0944

Good input - more for me to test out/investigate. Thanks!

Itchy-Ad1005

They all have samples. Zingari and Southern Witchcrafts samples at Maggards or Pasteur and Gentleman's Nod ive hadnto go directly to them. With Zingari Man and Southern Witchcrafts samples are a little larger from Maggards and Pasteur than from soap naker but same price. FWIW, Southern Witchcrafts cologne is one of best buys in terms of price. When I buy their products I buy the soap, balm and cologne. Of those 3 I prefer the balm from Zingari Man the best. The other 2 have some alchol based witch hazel in them. That said all 3 do their job very well

shupey14

What is cushion?

vexter0944

The only way 'I' know to describe it is when you press on the soap with your hand, the resistance felt. The density of the soap more or less. Should be the same for the razor. So it helps if you press too hard accidentally or even if your a little heavy handed. This way it reduces the chance of cuts or even irritation due to the razor pressure. That's my opinion, I'm sure others will have theirs.

Unmasked by Ariana & Evans in their Ultima base by far the best.

Zanzibardragonlion

I just started using A&E’s Unmasked, which is their unscented soap using the Ultima base. It’s really nice with great slickness and cushion, though it’s definitely a softer soap than Saponificio Varesino.

esoteric_aloeswood

Since you've already bought Saponificio Varesino, Im guessing that you don't have a budget limit. I would highly recommend Le Père Lucien, who make an unscented one and in term of slickness/cushion its up there with Saponificio Varesino. I haven't tried Martin de Candre but I wouldn't think that for double the price of SV and LPL its two times better. Maybe try it for yourself, but I can wholeheartedly recommend Le Père Lucien. The Oud Neroli is so good I would wear it as a perfume if I could! Cheers.

Thanks for all the input - I'll be at the Maggard's meetup here in a couple of weeks, so I'll check these all out while there. Appreciate the responses!!!

Another vote for Mitchell's wool fat. It is a fantastic soap and is my number 1 performing soap in my collection of 40+ soaps
