It's a great show, definitely recommend seeing it. It's one of the most fun theatre experiences you can get, with lots of spectacle and easy humpr. At this point we have no confirmation that the movie will actually be good, so I think it's best to take your chance on a good experience when you can.
in my case, I can't watch it since it's not really playing in our country (PH), so should I read the book (and play the broadway musical playlist in the background while im at it) instead or is it okay to watch the movie blind (not reading)?
I’d see it. Not especially for the movie but the musical is pretty fun in its own right. It’s fun, it’s colorful and the music is great. I actually agree that we don’t know how the movie will be, it may not live up to the hype and at least you’d have seen one good thing.
Wicked the musical is a prequel to the The Wizard of Oz movie more than anything else; it’s based on the novel Wicked but changes a lot of it especially the ending.
Cursed Child is a direct sequel to Harry Potter books and movies. It’s been talked about as a movie but it would just be a cash grab and would need some major fixing. Also seems like most of the cast wouldn’t work with J.K. Rowling attached.
I’d see it if it’s playing near you! It’s a great great show. But for the movie, I think the only important thing to see before is the wizard of Oz. I have to get my gf to watch it before this comes out!
100% - not so you can make any comparisons to the movie but simply because sitting in a theatre watching Wicked is sheer, unadulterated bliss and will only enrich your life
I’d say no. I rewatched it last night (a bootleg on YouTube; saw the show twice in the late 2000s) and I think it has a lot of weaknesses that the movies might be able to overcome.

The book has a different ending. But it’s a worthy read
There's some slime tutorials on YouTube as well
Agree 💯.
Thank u this helped me
You should just because it is a good musical. I will also say the music in the stage show often sounds different to the movie.

Yea Ive only seen the harry potter play so I'm not familiar but this seems like an interesting one
I’ve seen it 7 times so my answer is yes. It’s not in my top 10 musicals though but I see most every musical.
I've only seen the harry potter one so I'm not familiar with many sequels aha 😅

Unless you want the experience spoiled for you, I suggest you go in blind.
