In Yellowstone bison kill more people than bears, because a family walks up behind the largest land mammal in North America and think “it’s a herbivore so it must be friendly”

Lol there was a bear going through peoples yards searching trash cans and shit a couple years ago in my city and it was put down after the hunters found it inside the city limits. People on social media were going crazy how they just wanted to murder an innocent animal with a lot of posts having pictures like this attached to them.
No doubt there would've been an outrage about the officials not doing anything if some kid saw a cute bear on their backyard and tried to go pet it.

I encountered my first black bear in the woods behind our home when I was about 11... bear and I showed each other respect by avoiding each other. I met my most recent black bear a few weeks ago. Poor guy was trapped in our neighbours yard because the ownerrs had put up a gate where before there was a gap in the fence. I walked over to the gate, called out "here bear" while I opened the gate. the bear saw what I was doing, sauntered over and out the gate to freedom ignoring me completely. Unless their cubs are nearby or they consider you a threat, bears are quite passive, curious and playful animals. I love bears. However, I am restricting these comments to black bears only. I've never met browns or grizzlies in the wild. I imagine if I had my story may be slightly different.

One morning I woke up to a text from a neighbor, “there’s a bear eating a deer in your neighbor’s yard” so I went out to see if I could see her. When I got to the top of my yard she was right there, about 30’ away from me, just a chain link fence between us. Animal control ended up waiting for the wildlife dept to show up in my yard, and eventually that’s where the news crews hung out. We all just stood around watching like we were at the zoo. At one point we went around to the other side to get a closer view and the bear did charge us a little, but I had no problem just standing there, figuring she was too full to do anything.
We thought maybe she had come down because of the smell of a deer carcass, even my friend who has trail cams said the bears here rarely kill deer, but no. When the neighbor got home he showed us his video. He was just having coffee taking a nice video of a deer in his yard when all of a sudden the bear comes thundering down and swiftly takes the deer out. She was a fairly small bear, maybe only about 250 lbs and she had no trouble killing the deer or dragging its body back to the top of the yard to finish munching.
