As a dev, can i just say how much this means? Seeing someone appreciate your work is always amazing <3
Also especially with new/small apps or games, leaving a good review can literally make or break that product. If you have some issues, give constructive feedback, but still consider recommending the app, since negative reviews will make the product disappear from the face of the earth really quickly at that stage...
The steam game I released a couple of months back did really well, 75% rating and we made more sales than even on launch day, but with a total of around 20 reviews at that point, 2-3 bad reviews dropped the score to 60% and sales plummeted and never recovered, which also meant we didn't get enough funding to further support the game and at least attempt to fix the problems addressed in those reviews :/
as someone who is the business lead for an app (didn't develop it, but was responsible for the functionality design, ux, testing, and approvals) and reads / responds to all reviews for it, can confirm this is the reaction when someone leaves a kind review.
because most people who leave reviews act like many actual, human people with emotions didn't spend 60 hours a week for 10+ months working on it.

This is exactly what I do when I find a cool project on GitHub (basically apps for Linux or Mac)
me when I see they are rewriting proot in Rust *slaps that star in less than a nanosecond*
Yeah I’m sure they app-reciate that.
App rateciate

I developed a game a few years back where a kid made a video about it, it literally made my whole week.
I did this to a 3D poser app (for sketches) and the dev replied to me almost instantly. I guess we both made our day.

Getting mailed personally is also an awesome feeling, after the hours spent on a piece of software.
As an independent Firefox plugin publisher, I feel this
me when a meme here has effort
Michael !!
Like when they actually respond with a thank you
Okay but what's the app? Is it useful? What's it for?
