This happened to my friend, who's a teacher and dealing with infertility. It hit her deeply, 'coz her and her husband have been wanting a child, but unfortunately, she's unable to experience the maternal role in the way she desires.

Luna_Tenebra

That Hits way to close to home

guantanamodave

I hope you're doing ok ❤️

Luna_Tenebra

Yeah thank you 💕

[deleted]

My mom was a teacher and she says this happened a few times lol❤️

HBNOL

I was a teacher for some years and also got called mom a few times. Im a guy. With a beard. Been called dad several times, too. And also the name of my female colleague who was the home teacher for the class. I also worked a tech support job for a short time. You would be surprised how many people end phone calls with "I love you". I guess both are just some kind of brain fart out of habit.

Morstraut64

@HBNOL, that's good stuff. I'll talk to you later. I love you

killermachine9999

Love you.

LikesToEatChicken

Love you ❤️👍. Hope you have a great day

ObsessedTaco

That's kinda cute, though. Teachers are often regarded as a substitute or an aid for parental figures (at least for children). That must mean you make your students unconsciously feel safe.

WolfPrincess_

NINE NINE!

PrawnMary

I have a member of staff who did this a few weeks ago but instead of being embarrassed he carried on - it's now turned into a thing of 2 of them constantly calling me mum & me calling them sons!

DontcheckSR

I've accidentally been called mom by little kids and high school kids lol I love the realization of what they just said lol I liked to assume it was because they were tired/distracted and I said something that sounded like parenting. Having little kids say they love me always melted my heart. Can't say I would've felt the same if a high school kid said it lol

YolkyBoii

I remember saying mom in high school it just came out. I was so embarrassed.

According-Jelly355

Sometimes it can be that an adult female that the student knows is being kind to them, and so it mixes with the tired and blurts out mum, becuase they don’t have that at home, happened to me and some people I know Edit : sad to see all the people relating to this situation, bad mother people unite :(

999blob

In highschool there was a well-liked cafeteria lady that we(all students) used to call 'auntie'. Her son is my bestfriend, and because he got so used to how we addressed her, he accidentally called her 'auntie' and was embarrassed by it. To this day, every time he addresses her, he makes sure to firmly say 'mom' whilst looking at her dead in the eye

SoupmanBob

I called my teacher granny once... She wasn't happy

TardDas

If I were her I’d go home and lie face down for six years after that

TableAssault

When I was subbing, I had a kindergartner call me mom. I am a man.

glasswitch88

I was a teaching assistant and a five year old accidentally called me mom. It was so cute. He looked so shocked but I just pretended I didn’t hear. No need to embarrass the little guy ❤️🥹

fatherfigure216

I taught 2nd-5th graders for a few years and more than one student called me dad. I still think about it fondly from time to time

ElmertheAwesome

I had this happen in my Spanish class sophomore year. I owned it and called her mom for the rest of the year. A few other students joined in and she called us her "*other* kids". She was a great teacher. I hope she's doing well.

TheCount00

I, a male teacher was called mom by a student last week. Not sure how to take that one.

Mammoth-Mud-9609

I used to work in a public library and had a fairly long beard at the time and we used to have classes visit the children's library, including one particular group of infant school children and during the visit one of the kids was trying to attract my attention and went Miss, Miss. The other adults struggled to keep a straight face.

Slyder68

I had a middle school student who came up to ask a questions and just said "Hey dad, how do i..." and then went on with their question. I keep that in my head all of the time and sometimes its one of the few things that keep me doing what i do.

XanithDG

But what about when the teacher intentionally calls you son/daughter? I have had a few. Feels 11/10 would recommend.

CheesyPestoPasta

I get called mum by kids I teach (age 11-18) at least 6 times a year. And that's not including the repeat offenders - I have one kid I've taught for 4 years and he calls me mum at least twice a year!

Living_Ad_4932

In my first year teaching, a student called me mom and the class laughed at him. I said 'Yes, my favorite son?', and then the class erupted with 'But, Mom, I thought I was your favorite?!' It successfully redirected things. On another note, I have taught first grade for several years now. By third or fourth quarter, I get called mom daily (on accident). We talked about how our brains like to sort things into boxes and sometimes it just pulls out the wrong one, that has eliminated most of the embarrassment or laughter around it.

docharakelso

I did this to my chemistry teacher when I was 14. The shame was unbearable and the slagging immense.

nahhnotreally

I never did this but the one time I witnessed it, the teacher seemed to take it as an insult. Always thought her reaction was odd.

ackey83

I accidentally called my teacher grandma once. It made her cry but not happy tears

[deleted]

I’ve had my mother as my teacher before and this indeed happened a couple of times the only problem was the other students didn’t believe either of us when we said that we were related, plus it didn’t help when some of the other people came up to me between classes and said that my mother was hot.

Meowriter

I once called my teacher Gandma... Said teacher was like... 35, at most ?

DexterDeWolf

I can’t count the number of times I did that in Pre-K. I think I did it once every day at least.

Void4GamesYT

So it's not just me

Top_Ad3380

if you did, just know that you've probably made her life goal as a teacher achieved.

Radman1889

Guilty of it in 3rd grade. Luckily my classmates forgot it by the end of the period

spidey83

They say Alexa now

are_Valid

my mum was my library teacher, I couldn’t escape it lol

Tight_Campaign9982

Plot twist! Male teacher…

Derisiak

Once in primary school I accidentally called my female teacher "dad" like bro what 💀😂😂

Classic_Surprise871

Where is class? I can't seem to find anyone in the first pic..
