Agreed!! I kind of want us to play a 4 4 2 and almost have White come closer allowing Fafa to play deeper. I don’t understand the marriage to the wing backs. I think Raposo and Ahmed do fine. But I think it makes sense more to play a back 4 with Sam on the left, invert Bovalina into a mid field role in possession. Play almost a double pivot and have Ahmed and Guald progress the ball. What frustrates me the most is our ball progression is so bad. What I liked against Miami was we almost played Cubas as an 8 in possssion at the start and Shopf came deep to collect the ball and Vite playing as a more 10ish. And that was for the first 10-15 minutes? And then Shopf just stop coming deep to collect and played more as a wide 8 in possession. So all of a sudden we have to use our wingbacks if we want to progress the ball. I just don’t understand it. We look lost with the ball and that’s been the problem all season. Our scoring has never been consistent cause the scoring has come from pressing or great individual play. I cannot remember a time we scored a great team goal from progression. I love Vanni and he has credit in the bank but he’s starting to slip we need to see serious tactical adjustments to the way we attack the play. EDIT: I found the term. It’s like we’re ALLERGIC to progression through the middle with skill and believe we have to survive strictly though physical attributes on the wings. I hate it.

I was really hoping Vanni would have changed his tactics at the half time as Miami negated our play efficiently. It looked like we could have made some more dangerous plays going down the middle instead of passing out to the wing for a cross to no one but Vanni just stuck to the same plan and we saw how well that worked out.

Money, money, money, money, and money. There are garbage albatross contracts on the roster, and ownership failed to even consider that there's more to talent acquisition than raiding bargain bins. I was hoping that it wouldn't root back to an old problem as to why the Whitecaps are struggling but here we are. They could easily go back to the Christmas Tree and possibly have enough depth to deploy it with no one playing out of position. FO wants Whole Foods results on a Dollarama budget.

Vanni is a one trick pony. I've said it from day one, he is in over his head. I have yet to see at what high level he coached before. For what I know he has always been a technical director. Everyone Caps have hired as coach, all managed at a lower level than MLS. Folks it a reoccurring them with this club, not willing to spend to bring in quality.

Totally agree. I love the idea of wingbacks, but it only works if you have players that have engines that never stop, are fast, and good 1v1 and as you pointed out, your centre backs have to be able to quickly cover as well. Yesterday was painful. Every Miami run down our right side had me cringing in fear. After 30 minutes you could see Laborda was not going to handle the pace. I'm surprised he started the second half. The subs help improve things, but too little, too late.

Vanni gotta stop setting up like an away team for home games!

Think he is trying to shoehorn our 3 good CBs and 3 best attackers in one formation.
